Considering there's never been any Aquaman movies from I'm from, I think we can safely add time to the list of concepts where logic no longer applies.

[ Which, on one hand, duh. Join the club. On the other hand, it's the first time that, well, time itself has been brought up directly outside of the hazy mystery decade they've woken up into. That makes it interesting. ]

Or it could be a dimensional difference instead. Yours could have a fondness for the underdog to go along with reincarnation and personal lightning bolts.
