It took him a moment before he realized that the grip had released him, but the instant he did, he scrambled to his feet as quickly as he could. Had he not been backed against the fence, he would have backpedaled and put distance between the two of them. As it was, he pressed himself as far against it as he could, reaching down to try and grasp onto his divinity, to throw it up around him like a shield against any attempts to regain that hold on him.
