There's perhaps something more amusing about his motions than just him being terrified of her. She hasn't moved any closer and yet he's still trying to distance himself from her. She's not stupid enough to not fear his power, knowing full well that an angel could end even her existence but with his skittishness in just her presence, it's keeping her confidence high. Not that she'd ever drop it even around a powerful angel.
