Alright, being a plant and all, Fern can't exactly partake in a pancake breakfast like a normal person. That sucks, but while he can't eat or drink he can still smell (somehow), so that combined with his memories of enjoying food means that he can at least take in the smells. That's normal, right? Not weird?

Maybe a little weird, especially since he's acquired a cup of coffee to hold as he wanders. He's sniffing it when he hears what sounds like total sacrilege. Stopping, he glances over and sees... wow, that guy is very red. Not that he has any right to say anything.

"They don't have syrup at a pancake breakfast? That's messed up."
