professor ratigan . the great mouse detective

a. arrival

[One would hardly imagine this to be the general state of the afterlife. Ratigan had always imagined something far more...indulgent. Cherubs and grapeeating and whatnot. While the professor had always understood that he was not destined for nirvana, this was offputting. It was hardly classy at all.

After a few moments of yanking out his hair at the thought of his previous defeat, Ratigan struggles to regain his composure. And soon, he's off - scurrying out of the bed and into the darkness where he sees...]

Felicia. Darling. My most precious babe, you must be terribly frightened.

[His cat is here! She must have faced some grisly fate at the hand of Bas- His wretched canine. That hardly mattered now. What mattered at the moment here was situation assessment. Perhaps finding some fine wine and more suitable arrangements.

So, if you're out wandering the streets of Deerington today, you might see a terribly overweight feline scurrying about. Felicia takes care to avoid much in the way of human contact at the moment, sticking to climbing the occasional rotting post or building. She looks well-groomed by all appearances, and given the bow in her hair, it seems like she belongs to someone. No doubt that she's of a different make than the average stray animal in town.

...Ratigan, of course, is perched on her back. Clutching on and surveying the landscape.]

b. all you can eat

[By this point, the good professor has realized that rodents are a common sight in Deerington. Not entirely a welcome one and not entirely an intelligent presence. He loathes the embarrassment he felt attempting to communicate with one of their kind...

Either way, he has realized that a large definitely-mouse may not necessarily be the most welcome sight at the buffet. Even with a rather dapper ensemble, he hardly wishes to take the risk of being outright eviscerated by one of the giants.

So, during the buffet, you might find Felicia once again. Here, she is a bit more affectionate, taking your attention away from your plate for a moment. If you have some sort of wine or alcohol, you have especially made yourself a target for this. Should you turn away from the feline, you will absolutely find small chunks of your food missing. Or, if you're quick enough, might see the culprit himself grabbing it and stuffing bits of organ matter into a small sack flung over his shoulder.

After all, he has no qualms with eating meat from the giants. They'd do just the same to him. Besides, that pairing menu has given him some ideas.]
