Luke looks from her burnt fingers to her face, concern creasing his brow. Obviously none of them are okay, it's just... what do you say?

"I know what you mean," he hears himself saying softly. "I guess one thing I'm trying to keep in mind is that... I can give in, be whatever it is people think I'm gonna be, or I can try to be something else. Something I choose."

It's the first time he's even come close to articulating what's been going on in his head since he first found out about his father, here or at home, and he's a little surprised to hear the words out loud. It's probably nothing like what this girl's talking about, but... he can't possibly know what she fears.
