He got that a lot, to be quite honest. And, truthfully, he had a tendency to cultivate a bit of that "odd" atmosphere. If you were harmlessly odd, came across as a strange, overly kind, old-fashioned bookseller, people tended to find it easier to trust you.

There was something about what Luke said that made him smile in that certain way one did when they were amused by something only they would know. Not smug, however, nor patronizing, but a little endeared by whatever thought had occurred to him.

"You know, that sounds a great deal like someone I know. I have a feeling you two would get along, he's rather fond of people asking endless questions. In fact, he'd probably encourage it. Not that he ever has many of the answers, himself, but he prides himself on the asking of them, regardless." He gave him a sympathetic smile, though, and reached out with his grace to send a small wave of reassurance to him, for all the good it would probably do with his powers as hindered as they were in Deerington. It was instinctual, and it would have been easier to make himself stop breathing then to stop himself from trying to soothe the aches of the humans he met.

"I certainly understand the feeling. It can be terrifying, knowing that the people you care about are here, going through the same horrors you are." Or worse. There was only a brief pause before he visibly perked up, nodding his head decisively. "But that doesn't mean you should be alone, either. We have to look out for each other while we're here. Let's me show you my home. I'll make you a nice, hot cup of tea-" Oh, wait, the young man sounded rather more American then English. They preferred cold tea, didn't they? "Or hot chocolate, if you prefer. And you can meet Crowley. He pretends to be a rather horrible creature, but he's actually very kind. Just don't tell him I said that."
