[Lucille listens to the stranger, remaining solemnly quiet. He describes something unnatural underneath the water -- something that might exist only in stories. She isn't someone who believes in monsters, fairies, and other fantastical creatures, but she still peers down into the darkness below, anticipating something great and terrible following the ship. But she sees nothing.

Nothing but endless water.

She nods, agreeing with his second theory. She knows that all too well. The darkness brings with it unsettling noises and equally unsettling dreams which only seem to grow worse as each day ends. She's beginning to wish she had never boarded the boat at all.]


Indeed it does. The longer the voyage, the crueler the tricks, it seems. [She says contemplatively, once again peering over the edge.]
