Because when everything starts to return to normal and she realizes she, at some point, toppled backwards, when her head is clear and the ringing is down to a steady drone that she can deal with while it fades—it's not like she has to listen for Neo's voice or anything—she blinks a few times and looks up at Neo and actually... processes it for the first time.
