Autumn in Deerington just feels right somehow. Maybe it's the return to a landscape not unlike his first introduction to the place, or maybe it's his impending nuptials. Whatever the reason, when the new month rolls around and things begin to return to a pace approaching some version of "normal," Wes feels like he can breathe a little easier. Even the ceaseless oddities of this place seem well-considered, somehow, when set against the backdrop of changing leaves and darkening skies.
Despite his fears to the contrary, Grady has come back to life after all. For a man who's been shot and severed and stabbed more times than Wes has energy to count, the death flu seems to make him inconsolable. But he's back, and Wes has yet to realize that the appearance of one cabin resident will spell the withdrawal of another.
He hasn't seen Jean-Paul all day -- which isn't unusual, but is hardly preferable -- so when he spots him from outside the window of Grady's shop, he's more pleased than he is surprised. It's already getting dark, but Wes figures he can give them both a ride back to the cabin, so he pushes open the door and sidles up behind the man. Wes winds his arms around his waist and hugs him at the back, signing in front of the both of them.
When did your hair get so long? We ought to trim it when we get home.
