The thing is, it's a lot easier to keep up with everything that's happening in the Marvel universe when you're not actually living in the Marvel universe. If Gwen were still in her home world, reading comics religiously every Wednesday, she would know all about the Five and their mutant pod people. Things being as they are, all she knows is that the mutants live on Krakoa, and a bunch of them are being brought back to life, and that she's one of them now.
