save us both

Truthfully, Neal's been waiting for this moment, although he hadn't quite known what to expect. Since meeting the man in the pawn shop and being mistaken for someone else — specifically being told that he strongly resembles another resident of this very small town — he's remained curious about the circumstances and watchful for this supposedly similar man. Thing is, this guy is a spitting image at first glance. Identical out of the corner of Neal's eye, in fact.

"Me?" he asks as he considers feigning ignorance and acting as if these circumstances aren't extreme. Except that's hardly believable, and truth be told, he wants to get a closer look himself.

Returning some wine to the shelf — he doesn't have the cash for it, anyway — he turns towards Jean-Paul and offers out his hand. Neal's dresses finely in a well-tailored suit, recently cleaned and pressed by the looks of it, and while its hardly the kind of outfit a person would normally wear to the store, it makes him feel a bit more normal under these very abnormal circumstances.

"Neal," he introduces, taking a better look. Jean-Paul has shorter hair, probably due to his barbering partner, the same blue eyes, like a mirror to his own, but an accent that greatly differs from Neal's non-regional American. "You must be Wes' partner. We met at the pawn shop. Québécois?" he further presses, not quite able to suppress his know-it-all nature. Besides, it's buying him time to take in more details and hopefully smooth some of the potential ire pointed in his direction.
