Intro post
WELCOME TO DEERINGTON!
Hello new players, and hello old players with new faces! We're thrilled to have you in the game and we hope your time here is horrifically wonderful! Please feel free to use this space to introduce yourselves to one another and show off your new characters! Below is some useful information for all new players of the game and how you can expect the game to function! You certainly do not need to read it in order to plunge into the game, but we felt it might prove useful for some people and help you adjust to how the game works quicker!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THIS MONTH
Check out this month's Prelude to catch up on what the setting will be for the month! New characters will receive any items/newspaper from the month's Prelude.
Please read our Story So Far post that will be available to all characters ICly. This is a good point of reference for anyone who wants to dig into the meaty core of the game's story.
Requirement for all new characters: Please make sure to comment with your character to the AC Page by the 20th. We will assume you've withdrawn your acceptance if we don't see your character on the AC page by then. This would be seen as idling out and you would have to wait for one application cycle before reapplying.
Content Warnings: Please make sure to check out our player-maintained content warnings excel sheet. We strongly encourage all players to fill this out.
PRELUDES, EVENTS, AND MORE
20-25th of Each Month:
You can expect a Prelude post made each month to provide details about Deerington's setting for the upcoming event/month. Prelude posts may just be descriptors of the location or may be deliverable posts by NPCs like Sodder or the Dog Keeper. Preludes occasionally will contain gifts or necessary items for a character! All Preludes are accessible to characters accepted during that month's application cycle. For example: the Prelude for December has gifts and settings that are accessible to every character accepted in December.
11th of Each Month:
A plotting post containing the event prompts will be posted so that players can read the event and plan for it ahead of time. There should be time for new players to get in on the plotting since all events officially go live on the 15th.
15th of Each Month:
We hold one event per month. Many of our events have a lasting impact on characters that will sometimes carry over a month or two after the original posting. We always clarify what parts of these events may carry over, and even as a new player, you may be able to access certain elements from events posted before you were in-game so always make sure to check out the Preludes for details about any carry-over prompts!
We provide content warnings for each of our events. Each event typically has a specific horror focus, and some events may be more specific than others. Please make sure to read the content warnings closely.
All of our events are specifically designed so players can feel comfortable opting out of any of the events without completely missing out on what's going on. Never feel you have to engage with any part of an event that makes you uncomfortable!
Mini-Events:
Some game-meta mini-events will be posted along with every other event. Clues to how to access these mini-events will be given in prior months. These mini-events are for players who want to get heavily involved in the story elements of the game. They are entirely optional. All mini-events are logged here and can be accessed at any time during your time in Deerington. All mini-events were created so that players can take their time exploring the story elements on their own schedule.
15th of the Month:
We have a CR meme that is posted every month on the 15th. We used to have this be every other month but have recently decided to make it every month.
End of Month:
Our Test Drive Meme is posted towards the end of each month. All TDM events can be used in game canon! You can also use direct TDM posts as AC! 10 points for a top-level (new characters only), 3 points per log comment, 1 point per network comment (all players).
STARTER INFO
While we have provided you with your essential links for joining the game, we have compiled a useful list of links you might be interested in for further immersion of the game!
↪Story So Far provides a general timeline of events that have occurred in-game for the first two years, just about. You do not need to read all of this to get into the game, but it may help with characters who are investigative.
↪ Social Media in Deerington: Social Media is a large part of how characters interact in Deerington. They use deerFeed, deerlyBeloved and Staggr. Read up more on how each of these apps function in the game and get your pages set up!
↪ Death Certificates: This will help you keep track of your character's deaths in-game as well as any symptoms they might be experiencing. Most new characters won't have to worry about this but heck, what do we know? Maybe you'll want to get to dying sooner than most!
We hope our information has been helpful! As always, feel free to ask any questions you may have, and we hope you have fun!

Wu is a reluctant King who (sort of) set aside a life of ease and luxury to turn his kingdom into a set of smaller democracies. While in the show he's mostly defined by his position, he's also a kind, odd guy who just wants to hang out with animals and sing them lullabies, or to spend his time at the sauna or spa. He's never really had friends, and he's really going to hate Deerington, so come say hi!
Happy to keep TDM threads canon, and come hang out on plurk

Meet Andrew. He's an amnesiac homeschooled kid who just wanted to have a good time on a field trip but then Silent Hill Tropes had to happen & he had to have an entire existential crisis. Will horror protags ever be able to catch a break? NOPE. Meet Andrew from The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope which is a segment of short-choose-your-fate games. The game is still somewhat new so SPOILERS BE EVERYWHERE MAN. Andrew's existence itself is a spoiler so you'll want to tread with caution.
Anyway, Andrew hallucinates on a regular basis and has some serious reality distortion issues that Deerington won't help with. But all in all he's just a regular guy trying to cope with the guilt that he's responsible for the gruesome deaths of his entire family :')
u know
the usual
Really though. Andrew's psychological state / appearance in game is a little funky so feel free to read more about it here. I'm linking it for the sake of people who want to avoid spoilers so aye.
I look forward to many upsetting threads w you all. I'm Milk and I also play Eddie Kaspbrak (and sometimes Nicolo di Genova tho verdict's out on that right now) so pls feel free to come hassle me on plurk @ clussy.

This is Fox Alistair from RWBY, aka that American psuedo-shounen anime where all bad things happen and teenagers try to stop the apocalypse. He is from the backwater desert of Remnant, Vacuo, ridiculously chill (except when he's pranking you or being sassy), and also has telepathy because he can read your thoughts and project his thoughts to other people.
Please check out my Permissions post for more information about his telepathy and how it will be affected by warping.
Fox will also be living in Clarke Acres in a slightly run down farm house.
And in conclusion:

Glynda is a strict, non-nonsense teacher at a monster fighting academy. Her job is pretty stressful because you can just imagine what it's like trying to teach a bunch of heavily armed teenagers monster hunting, but she's dedicated to her students, has a special telekinetic power that lets her magically reassemble and fix things, and doesn't have the worst grasp on her temper. Basically, she's a Texas anime expy of Professor McGonagall, right down to being the loyal right hand of the unhelpfully mysterious headmaster. Glynda is going to be the principal at Deerington High School, so any students and fellow teachers and expect to see her there!
For those of you who are familiar with RWBY she's from a few weeks after volume 3, and more specifically from right after she sends team CFVY away in the After the Fall novel. For those of you who aren't, just know that her life has recently gotten so much more exhausting and complicated and she probably hasn't slept in a week.

Hey guys! Pedro here, first time playing this adorable but complicated bundle of energy Luz Noceda! She is the eager young apprentice of Eda the Owl Lady, where I intend to have her wake up to very soon! She'll be helping her place of business, possibly attending school and likely getting into a whole bunch of shenanigans and hullaballoo, some of her own accord! I'm playing her right at the end of her season (season 1) so she'll definitely be disoriented but looking to get the skinny on everything happening to her soon!
Since I've been
stalkingkeeping up on her TDM, I'll be looking to make those permanent with the exception of her appearing in a different place. I just figured it'll make things easier if she shows up at Eda's all "BWUHHH" and being filled in ASAP, but obviously still meeting people along the way!I'm Pedro, happy to play but I do work overnights (and am EST) most night, though I will try to play when I'm awake! Plurk is
Happy to play Luz off you guys, take care!

+1 tired colonial marine
Heyo this is Black Widow's player bringing in Corporal Dwayne Hicks from the 1986 space horror movie ALIENS. Hicks is a 28 year old Corporal of the Colonial Marines in the year 2179 who accompany Ripley and Weyland pencil pusher jerkoff Burke to investigate the colonists on LV-426 when communications are lost and the thought of an alien/xenomorph might be the cause. Things basically go to hell really quickly and Hicks ends up assuming command of what's left of the squad and tries to keep everybody remaining alive while trying to get off this damn rock and dealing with hundreds of xenomorphs trying to kill them. It's A TIME to say the least.
He's a bit of a shy guy and the quiet one out of the squad but definitely knows how to lead and make tough decisions when he has to. If I can find a way to bring the xenomorphs into this setting via an event or something at some point, trust that I will. c:
Just a general note for content warnings here: Hicks comes from a world with themes of space horror, body horror, aliens/xenomorphs, and alien impregnation into unwilling hosts. If you ever don't want to deal with any of that, it's totally cool, just let me know and I'll steer clear of it being brought up or mentioned.
Other than that, looking forward to him being here! o/

Heeey Deer! I'm Jessi, and I'm bringing in Adam Parrish from The Raven Cycle.
A bit about him: he's sassy when he's comfortable around others, fairly introverted, extremely smart, and clever. He was once tied to a magical forest named Cabeswater, and is currently a student attending Harvard while lying out his ass to all his college friends because who the heck wants to hear a sad old story about some kid from Virginia.
He's also Ronan Lynch's (
Feel free to hit me up on plurk (

Hi everyone! My name is Luna and I'm currently here with my original character, Mirai Akarui (
For anyone unfamiliar with RWBY or Pyrrha, she is an extremely talented warrior who's training to become a Huntress. She also has a bad habit of saying "I'm sorry" too much. Remnant deals with monsters named Grimm that feeds on fear and that's fantastic when Everything is Okay™.
Pyrrha is taken from the end of Season 3, so although RWBY is now in its 8th season, I feel like it's probably a good idea to warn anyone who's blind and interested in RWBY that she will be coming with a lot of baggage and spoilers to boot. If anyone would rather me not spoil anything, please do let me know and I'll do my best.

Hi, I'm Selina and I'm playing Gansey, an obscure nerd from the Raven Cycle books. He's obsessed with a dead Welsh king that he's searching for in Virginia.
Yes, Virginia. Don't ask unless you want a history lesson.Gansey had some triggery things happen to him when he was a child related to insects. So he has some PTSD that he pretends doesn't exist, an epic case of insomnia, and a fixation on boat shoes. He builds model towns when he can't sleep and owns a bright orange Camaro that you'll be seeing (and hearing) around Deerington. He's the son of a wealthy politician so he can be charming and hides behind a lot of masks so that people don't see the real version of him. At his canon point, he's also fated to die in a few months so he has some issues related to that.
Gansey has weird magical talents that are barely discussed in the books. He can find lost things and he has voice magic that was never clearly defined. I headcanon that the reason why he seems so charismatic is accidental use of that magic, but I don't play that often unless it's discussed with everyone involved.
His two best friends, Ronan Lynch (
He arrives right after he died and was resurrected (he's not even sure he actually was resurrected) so he's going to be a bit confused for a few days.

This is Julio, I used to play Max Caulfield here until I failed AC (sob, the shame). But I'm back with... uh, still Max Caulfield, because I love her. Her canon is Life is Strange (Season 1), which I will always recommend to people. It has it's flaws, but it is beloved.
Figure 1 - literally Life is Strange in a nutshell.
Max is an "average" young adult in most respects - just add in a dash of time powers (and apparently that's enough to screw up your whole life). She's from Arcadia Bay, Oregon, but is CRAU with three years in Wonderland (a DWRP game that ended) and two years in Deerington.
I've decided that, as of her entry into the game, all she remembers is the very start of her canon. She'll slowly regain all her memories of her canon, then of Wonderland, then of Deerington over some to-be-determined period of time.
It's great to be back. I'm really excited for a fresh start. I'm looking forward to making new friends and reconnecting Max with everyone! :)

This is Evelyn from the wonderful 1999 film The Mummy, a movie so near and dear to my heart. I've wanted to play Evelyn for a long time, and I finally worked up the guts to app her! She's approachable and easy to chat with, and comes with her very own Book of the Dead (dampened to revive plants only, how utterly boring).
She's coming in right as she goes with Imhotep to save her friends, so she's a little jittery but she'll be in good spirits soon enough. If you have any ideas or want to say hi, I'm over on plurk at

I'm Hebe, fresh and new here bringing you all Rufus Shinra from Final Fantasy VII. He's coming from a few months after the end of the original game events though he'll be accompanied by Dark Nation, his massive genetically engineered guard hound.
Rufus has a knack for living through near-death experiences such as jumping off of buildings, sliding down an air vent for literally 70 floors, and telling a remanent of Sephiroth to bring it on. So he's going to have a lot of fun here and I'm sure things won't be boring.

I'm Erin, and I've joined the RWBY cast and will be playing Robyn Hill. Robyn is the RWBY spin of Robin Hood, where she's a hometown hero for Mantle and something of an activist for equal rights and basic necessities for all. In Deerington she'll get to pretty quick work on launching something to help the Wastes, feeling that it's horrible to refer to them by such a derogative term.
For those familiar with RWBY her Semblance is truth detection. For those not familiar, Robyn is able to use her Aura to coat her arm and another person's arm with a light. If the person it telling the truth, the Aura will turn green, if they are lying it will turn red. Due to the nature of this I have created an opt out for her semblance. You can also find more information there.
Finally, at the prompting of the RWBY cast, I now have a Plurk and discord. Please feel free to add me at
Let's have fun, and I look forward to exploring this experience with you all.

He's from the old Warcraft comics, which are fun but definitely not high art, so his backstory is incredibly weird. At least he can do cool things like teleport and conjure food!
Excited to be back! You can find me at
