((OOC: oh thank fuck because I was trying to figure out the entire time I was reading your post how I was gonna respond to you without spoiling anything. also tl;drs are great, no need to be sorry!))

She almost, almost doesn't hear him. It's what happens when she's so intently focused on something: she mostly stops listening and tends to shut out the world around her. None of what's happening makes sense, and the lasso means so much to her. So of course she's rather fixated on it. But nothing could ever shut out Steve's voice.

If this had happened to her a week earlier, she would have been overjoyed. Shocked and uncertain, much like him, but just happy. But now...

Diana inhales deeply, back stiff as she forces herself to turn and face him. Now there's pain mixed with that joy. Seeing him standing there is like a punch to her heart. This is the second time she's gotten him back... and if this is all a dream, then it'll wind up being the third time she's going to lose him. She wants to cry; the tears well up in her eyes. She just can't tell how much of it is from joy and how much of it is actual sorrow.

"Steve." She swallows the lump in her throat. "It is. It's me, and we're both here somehow."
