When the sleeper doesn't do anything unusual, Gansey started to relax. He continued to be wary, a sign that the new town was changing him, but he stopped assuming that he was being robbed.

"We usually show up here in random beds. At least that's what I've been told." Most people were supposed to show up where they were going to live, which made him wonder why a stranger had shown up in his house. That might have been how Noah ended up in Monmouth but it wasn't the normal way to find roommates.

"I hadn't really thought of it like that until now." Maybe he hadn't wanted to because it would cause the lyrics to run through his head. It'd take hours for it to go away. "I've been here about a month. The hows and whys of it are complicated. I haven't quite grasped it completely yet."
