Desired CR: Joyce being new, I'm open to pretty much anything! adults she can commiserate with on her free time, kids she can take under her wing and look after, people she can let down her hair around, people who can show her the ropes of how Deerington works, people just as new as her who she can talk to about the sheer insanity of being here, anything, really. Unwanted CR: uhhh nothing romantic, as of yet, at her canon point she's happily dating Bob Newby.
Event Ideas:
BURNT OUT Joyce knows how to swim, and thank god, because she's going to take it upon herself to serve as a lifeguard and pull people out of the water if they're drowning. she won't be trying to fight monsters, her priority will be getting folks back to shallower waters, so if a tentacle monster appears, uh, I guess pray she's faster than that? also she'll be collecting like. a Rubik's cube belonging to Bob, a useless 80s phone with a scorched mouthpiece, her old wedding ring from her first marriage which she will promptly pitch back out to sea, and a tape of the Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go?"
when it comes to the festival, I think I'll have her just stick to water and soda. this will be the very first time in a very long time that Joyce will ever feel relaxed enough not to like, poke too hard about the beach, and will even dance if you ask her to, although she herself won't be initiating—I imagine she'll just chill on the sidelines, eat a snack.
THE BALLROOM DREAM at first, it's the same as with the festival! she'll be on the sidelines, eating snacks and chaperoning, and she'll happily go along with someone wanting to dance as well. then she'll suddenly find herself alone in Deerington, and that will likely remind her all too much of the Upside Down, so she'll be operating under the assumption that the town is not safe and look frantically for the Hawkins crew. this will also be how she finds herself leaving the hotel the first time, and she'll race back as soon as she realizes she's back in town and out of the hotel.
CAN'T YOU SEE ME? I don't plan to have Joyce's funeral, mostly bc I've got Richie's in the works already! she will be attending other people's funerals, though. lmk if you want her showing up at yours specifically!
