Plotting Post: Mine Exploration

Sup, this is the plotting post for exploring the mines on Mount Rheum! The main log post is here.

As your character may or may not know, there’s an abandoned mine on the west side of the mountain, previously blocked off by un-traversable, eternal flames. These are now unlocked! Majima will be exploring the mines and likely making some kind of network post about it later, but heck feel free to live ur best ghost miner life.

The environment is kinda sorta dangerous because of horrible fires, ash, and ghost residue. It's fiiiine.

Ideas/Wishes pertaining the event:
- I'm gonna be real I've always wanted to play out a cave-in with limited oxygen reserves. LET'S TELL EACH OTHER SECRETS
- I put in a monster request months ago for what is essentially RPG treasure chest mimics and I'd love to play through getting personally victimized by one. Bonus: They taste like lobster, please enable me in this terrible culinary experiment.
- Investigating the remnants of the miners and the lone woman, ofc
- Gimme that tasty F.E.A.R. CR, he knew those suits were going to come in handy eventually

Character Name: Newt Scamander
CR Wanted: Any...? All??? Having a jolly (read: probably not jolly) good time in the mines
CR Not Wanted: What could possibly go wrong?
Ideas/Wishes pertaining the event:

-Newt can't do much about the fire part for others or for himself.
-He can cast bubble head charms for people. The description mentions they should be basically upside down fish bowls, so it'll give people some clean air and avoid ash in their eyes if they want that. Newt will be using it for himself at least and offer to others.
-Please don't let this dumb man wander off on his own.
-He won't keep any gold, but he'll probably pick some up to examine it and regret it.
-Newt doesn't have a strong aptitude for spiritual energy or anything, but he'll probably be able to feel some of it since HP world does have a lot of things like ghosts and what not existing so I imagine that he'd be able to get a feel of some of it.

I'm excited to see this finally happening AND I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO DO SOMETHING WITH THE MIMICS. Mostly because you bet your butt that Newt might try to capture/keep at least one to study them proper.

If that includes possibly trying to eat one THEN WELL. Why the heck not. They can do some investigating together after the mimics of course.

Character Name: Peter Parker, though in this he'll be Spider-Man.
CR Wanted: survival/heroing/anything tbh
CR Not Wanted: N/A
Ideas/Wishes pertaining the event: Peter's a sticky boy who can stick to cave walls and help people swing across stuff and etc. etc. Generally if you need him for something, lemme know, because he'd definitely go along in case anyone needs a hand. He also has a strong spider sense so if you want your character to almost get burned alive and for pete to pull them to safety, he can also def help ya there.

YES LET'S DO IT majima will be so insulted that this giant land bug tried to saw his limbs off, how dare this happen >:(

We could also toss some treasure bugs in there since they tend to cohabitate for slightly sinister reasons ijs

MAJIMA INSULTED AND NEWT LIKE. Oh, the little fella is kinda cute don't you think? LIKE NO??? IT TRIED TO DO BAD THINGS. I am all for them taking a dead one (probably the one that attacked Majima in the first place) home so they can, well, try it. Encourages terrible culinary experiments. Definitely.

Yes, I read about the treasure bugs too!!! Newt canonically keeps questionably dangerous animals, but is very good at what he does when it comes to studying them, so there's that. Even if...some question probably how he can so happily keep things that could kill him. Details.

I mean think of all the rad things they could do with the leftover claws, too! Okay, so mainly just annoy and pinch people with them but still.

But yes good, I love these dumb monsters and this all sounds wonderful \o/

Character Name: Vira-Lorr

CR Not Wanted: Can't think of anything specific but will let you know
Ideas/Wishes pertaining the event: I'm looking at this as a nice surreal horror exploration. Vira-Lorr will, provided she gets some information from Majima, be coming as a magical combat expert with some familiarity in spiritual matters.

I'll inquire with the mods about anything unusual she might see beyond the standard, but it should be a nice, creepy little adventure.

Fool's Gold: She's not the type to take the gold herself, but I wouldn't mind if someone else did around her and thought she was burning.

The Onelthes' third eye sees the future, and as a mystic she does have some familiarity looking into things of the dead and unquiet spirits. Her third eye is muddied and fuzzy, but would she be able to see any specifically unusual aspects about the place? (other than potentially get a feel for the directions to go)

Ah, well I do know there are a couple things that someone with a spiritual sense could pick up on, like that there's one place where a bunch of bodies were, and the lady who died in the mines. I don't know if there's specifically anything about seeing the future, though!

With Newt doing mimics, I had a thought about that potential cave in. Maybe a spell to keep it from completely caving in around them, but not enough to actually break them out. Conserve air while others dig them out. One of them injured, tight, charnel spaces with the smell of death and ash all around them?

*nods* I suspected that would be the case. She won't be able to notice anything other than what's in the write up. I can work with that very easily.

Good thing there's no actual active ghosts of a dream sort in this place. She's currently not very good at handling the undead dreamers.

Character Name: Lance
CR Wanted: ALL OF IT.

Ideas/Wishes pertaining the event: I love anything where characters have to survive and make hard choices. I'd like to give Lance something cool to do, some way to play to his strengths and talents. He's the sort of guy that'll throw himself in harm's way to help/save someone even after only knowing them for a short time, so he'll be good for hero-ing.

Stuff that Lance can provide:
- high tech paladin armor with a booster pack. jump over crevices with ease and save people from falling to their deaths!
- his suit is also made for space, so it has air and oxygen recycling abilities. If there's a cave-in situation he can turn that on and not use up other people's air, but his suit's isn't unlimited either.
- his bayard can be a rifle, sniper rifle and a broadsword. so unlimited energy blast ammo to fight monsters?
- comedic relief! gallows humor and goofing off are his specialty. He is also skilled with puns, but it's not his go-to.
- despite being the goofball of Voltron, Lance is pretty smart, he has a good sense of direction and he can problem solve on the fly, and he also has enough smarts to get into a school that people have to be at the top of their class to enter. So if there's a problem presented that needs a creative solution backed up with hard logic and facts, he can provide if pressed.

Majima sort of prefers the active ghosts, GO TEAM. I mean, at least he can fight the violent ones, but what do you do when they're not angry, just disappointed...

But yeah if you'd like to do some exploring I'd be game c:

Any preference as to who gets injured? Majima heals quite quickly, so I don't mind getting him pretty messed up, but he'd also be Super Worried about Vira if she was the one hurt.

Hmmm. How about Vira gets her ankle wedged and caught under rubble. A sprain, not a break, to serve as a reason to hobble afterwards, but that looks more worrisome while they can't see properly?

Her basic earth spell basically jams a big spike of earth up from the ground below, so she wouldn't be able to cast healing, focusing on keeping it up instead of casting another spell. (would also help avoid her accidentally hurting Majima by healing herself.)

Oooh, out of curiosity, would Lance be foolish enough to pick up one of those cursed lumps of gold in this place?

That works, maybe he could help shore it up with available materials and they could argue about whether she should actually try to heal herself anyway, because look at least then Vira would be okay

Character Name: Vigil
CR Wanted: ALL THE THINGS. I'd especially like to see him using his abilities to help out the team, maybe rescue someone? I also wouldn't mind having him discover the hard way that his stone skin doesn't do anything against Deerington monsters.
CR Not Wanted: I don't want him to die, but I'm up for just about anything else.
Ideas/Wishes pertaining the event:
- Vigil can control earth/stone, so he'll be handy to have around during a cave-in. But using his power to tunnel through earth is both tiring and takes a long time, so there's still plenty of room for tense trapped CR! :D
- He can also see in pitch darkness, so he can scout if/when the lights go out.

I am brand spanking new to this game, but what better way to get to know the new guy than a cave-in!

He can be injured, or not, either is good with me.

Ideas/Wishes pertaining the event:

-As I stated earlier, what better way to get to know the new guy than a cave-in?
-Azwel can fight beasties or even other people, as his weaponry is 100% magick.
-He's really intelligent in a place filled with really intelligent people, but he's got mad 1500s-era survival skillz.
-Drag this man out of his comfort zone and into someone else's! Make him tend the injured/oxygen-starved/etc.

Character Name: Justine | the Dresden Files |

CR Not Wanted: This isn't a thing.
Ideas/Wishes pertaining the event:

- I'd love for Justine to get stuck in the mines somewhere. She doesn't get trapped often and this seems like a great moment for her to get close to new CR or show off her fancy ability to panic.
- Justine will likely get hurt. Nothing to serious but something with a lot of blood.
- She isn't much of a fighter and she's going on this trip to assist Majima the best she can. With that in mind, Justine will be setting up a first-aid tent outside of the mines. Which means that animals from the area could attack and smell blood or what have you, if you wanna do anything with this let me know. Justine isn't a doctor but she can keep people alive until either a doctor arrives or they get off the mountain.

Ideas/Wishes pertaining the event:

- Airy is used to being underground but that doesn't make it any less unsettling. Maybe something with slight claustrophobia? or darkness and tension, even if they find a large cavern.
- General mayhem but Airy being able to show off her awesomeness. She can create light but she'll be distracted with the ash.

We should do more with Airy & Vira! I am really enjoying their CR so far and Vira keeps Airy on her toes lol. Airy might accidently pick up gold but she wouldn't unless there was a lull... she's naturally curious. I'd also love for Vira to learn about Airy's magic too, since it's kinda weird.

I will give you ALL the FEAR cr, though I have to warn you, I will be slow. I'm working now, so my brain gets sucked dry during the week... :(

Also, limited oxygen reserves likely means they're stuck down there for a while, which also means people are gonna get hungry (and thirsty, but shh). Say they take down one (or more) of these things because it's attacking and eventually they have to eat it? YUMMY
