JANUARY'S EVENT SIGN UP + PLOTTING POST

Welcome to the event for January that extends into February! The official timeline for the events over this month and the next are:

Jan 15th: The Sinkhole appears.
Jan 16th: Golems come down asking for help and providing help. The sickness begins to spread.
Feb 12th: A regular mod event is scheduled.
Feb 20th: Conclusion to finding the cure for the sickness that begins to spread in January.

Any player accepted into the game between January and February application rounds can take part in this event! The information from January will be linked to new players in February.

There will be a regular event posted in February on the 12th. This event will be for all characters.

Then the sign-up only event for the sickness plot will be posted on the 20th of February. Only characters signed up for specific roles on this page may take part in this event.

The effects and world changes of the January event will last until the end of February.

MEDIC/EXPLORER REQUEST FORMS

You have until February 20th to sign your character up as a Medic and/or an Explorer.

Characters must fit what they are signed up for in some way.

Medics should have medical knowledge, however characters who have a tendency to be nurturing or caring may also be signed up as it would be expected of them to have good intentions for helping people.

Explorers should have the stomach for...you guessed it: exploration in dangerous places. They don't have to be fighters by any means. They could just have a knack for wanting to find things, wanting to help in a different way than a medic.

Characters who are signed up can still get sick. Neither role is immune from the flu!

Characters do not have to do anything with the roles they are given. You can sign your character up and then do nothing with it! You don't have to partake in the Find the Cure event on the 20th of February either! As always, these are options to further your game experience.

Characters can take on both roles if they would fit both roles. If you want to have them be both, please fill out both forms and put them in the appropriate sections below.

Details on what a medic or explorer entails can be found on the event.

Once you are signed up, you can choose how and when the golem grants your character their temporary abilities. If we see a character that doesn't make sense with a role, we will reach out to you to ask for further clarification.

Still reading through everything so forgive me if I've misinterpreted anything, but for the "explorer" contingent who accept the golems' request to help in Jan, what is it they're asked to help with that month? The medic role seems straightforward, they can offer medical assistance over the course of Jan.

On the explorers' side, are they expected to do down into the hole and poke around? Or do they not receive any specific direction until the end of Feb?

- I don't know if she'll go down the hole. Maybe if Majima or one of her other close CR goes or if she has someone to go with. She'll be acting as a medic and will be focusing on healing people.

- I kind of want to mess with her sanity... either monster or sickness.

- Maybe death??? I don't like death for death's sake but something turamatic and fun and maybe to show some of her growth in Deerington since I don't think she's realized how much the town has changed her.

- She's been learning to fight and has an ice dagger, so it might be cool for her to help save someone.

AIRY MILLER

- F.E.A.R stuff for sure! She will be doing her recon thing with her composition notebook.

- Airy is very powerful and it'd be great to have her face something extreme to show off that power. That said, one of those paralyzing things could totally kill her.

- I don't know if I want her to die though.

- She can help anyone!!!

- Lots of exploring.

Anyways Franciscus is definitely going to be worried about Oso, especially with the forgetfulness symptoms. He might end up just sitting by Osomatsu's side and trying to remind him about everything they've been through together while that happens.

Plotting - Vira-Lorr (Warning for mention of gore/body horror)

- Am I going to send what is basically a D&D style witch down into the horrible place with all the silently screaming monsters looking for answers? Is the sky blue?

- So, yeah, she'll be entering the sinkhole. Exploration horror is a likely result. She's going to be avoiding the icky somewhat with a little magical floatation, but like all of her magic, it's spotty at best so she won't always be so lucky.
- Fighting horrors is a very likely option. I am going to call what we see down in this place as "Undead" in general, so her magic isn't especially good against them, but she has some defenses. Most of these fights will be 'positive' experiences but...
- I want to get Vira-Lorr stitched into the flooring. Non-fatally, but that's part of the raw horror of this event isn't it? This can be either her and her partner overpowered and both added to the tapestry, one hand free enough to slowly fight their way free... or someone finding her afterwards, perhaps waking her up as they step on her and have to help her free. I would prefer that this not be fatal, however. Just mind-numbingly horrific.

- The Flu: Ok, it's been cleared up that flu shots were an event before the November Event and that most of them had been destroyed. So, Vira-Lorr won't be vaccinated.
- Vira-Lorr, despite her injuries, won't catch the flu initially. She'll be taking precautions and using her magic for self-recovery (hazardous for those around her). However, she will get sick around the start of February. She'll be suffering the lower-tier (through body disassociation) symptoms while helping to Explore, and wearing a mask the whole time.

- Event: For the 20th, she will be joining the Explorer side of the event. It's far more in her nature than Medic, and her basic healing magic is pretty spotty right now, and prone to hurting others.

- Special: She's going to be potentially getting a Surprise Grant around this time, so god knows what that will do, or how it will help.

Azwel has learnt nothing from the mine experience. His curiosity will lead him into that goddamn sinkhole and he might come back out missing some more of his already precarious sanity.

You bet your ass he's gonna catch that flu, too, and be baffled because back home he came through the plague unscathed. But that genetic immunity is pretty specific.

He'll be going into the second part of the event as a Medic, so that'll be fun with that flu. Still, he'll wrap up in iso gear and soldier on.

Plotting - Reaper

Reaper is basically going to go exploring and walking around on corpses doesn't bother him nearly as much as it probably should work place hazard. He's hopefully going to be allowed to be an explorer and he's a tactician and he has excellent directional sense especially in the dark.

The Flu: I will likely not be having him endure sickness; he's already still suffering after his brush with death. Moira probably walked by and stabbed him in the ass to vaccinate him or something. He will dealing aches and pains already, and he expects the mask he's wearing under his other mask offers double protection.

Sink hole: You better believe he's going down there. He will not be stitched to the floor because he's going to likely wraith his way over the yellow-brick-body road and not draw particular attention to himself. He will be happy to take on the lickers and the winter lanterns, and his abilities will allow him to contest them quite well.

He might even be a team player! I mean... he'll save people with disparaging comments. If your name is Chloe and you're going to die, he'll probably show up and kill whatever is making a meal out of you. If your name isn't Chloe, he'll likely still save you because it means killing stuff and he needs his reaping if full working order (he gets 50% reaping healing now, guys! Uncle Jeff makes it so!).

I am hoping he can team up with one other person who may share his... ah, eccentric abilities to reduce an enemy to a twitching mass. Or not. I'm not the boss of you guys.

I believe that I will sign Allura up to be both a medic and an explorer! She has basic first aid and intense combat training, can do some magical space healing with her abilities to manipulate people's energies and/or supply them with her own. Downside of doing that energy/quintessence part is that it means that in Deerington she actually takes on the injuries/illness of those affected. SO. That...would be fun to play with, potentially?

So things that in general I would like for Allura to do this month...

➤ Explore the sinkhole! Anyone who wants to partner up and go down into the depths with her would be appreciated. General exploration, with some monster subcategories below....BECAUSE I AM IN LOVE WITH ALL THE MONSTERS I CAN'T CHOOSE JUST ONE.

➤ Open to stitches! either having her get stitched or saving someone from being stitched. As to how far the stitching goes could be up to discussion. I'm thinking maybe the latter just because she's got superhuman strength and so it would be more difficult for the walking carpet to subjugate her long enough to tie her down.

➤ Licker Encounters! Oh yes, I want this. Let's fuck up some creepy zombies.

➤ I am VERY tempted to have Allura get fucked up by a Winter Lantern, though how fucked up I am still deciding. I realize death here may be a more appropriate avenue if she ends up losing her sanity in the process. Anyone who has interest in those creatures too, hit me up!

Allura MAY not be getting sick, depending on how badly sinkhole goes for her. If she gets out mostly unscathed she will get the virus.

Lance | Voltron

Lance will go into the sinkhole, but he won't be extremely excited about it either. His natural curiosity and the desire to find answers about this town for the sake of helping innocents and of course those he cares about is what will send him in there. I am also signing him up as an Explorer, and he wasn't around for the flu shots so he will also be getting sick, though his symptoms will be manageable.

Sink hole:

• Lance will have his armor and the booster pack on the back to help with getting down there and hopping over the ickiest parts of the bodies on the floor.
• He also has a keen sense of direction and survival instinct and likely Garrison survival training. Not to mention tech in his suit to help with mapping areas and all that. However, when he went into the mines, parts of his suit may have been damaged and don't work quite as well.
• Down for encountering all the monsters in the hole. Zombies and lickers should be fun to fight off. Lance has a sword to cut anyone out of being stitched to the floor. And he'd be wearing his armor so I'm not sure he'd get badly stitched himself, but that might be fun to play around with.
• I'm interested in the winter lanterns, maybe fucking with Lance's head, but not to the point of needing to kill him. I'm still figuring that out, but I'm interested in it having a lasting affect on him. Suggestions are welcome especially if you want to play together with this idea!

Flu Symptoms: Lance is going to be doing all he can to stay healthy, but it won't work out well for him eventually. But his symptoms will be mild to medium for the most part, and he'll still be functional. I'm down will all the symptoms listed happening to him at different points, especially the skin flaking part, since we all know how he feels about his skin.

Additional: I am not opposed to killing him at some point in this event, if he does die it would be because I'm looking for the right opportunity to make it impact him in some way. I'd want him to die for a good character and narrative reason, not senselessly. So I suppose we'll see what the second part of the event has to offer.

Sinkhole:

-Skye is going in the sinkhole. So any F.E.A.R. people or anyone else who is game and wants to meet up outside/inside let me know! If anyone has a gas mask or anything that might help with the stench, Skye would be forever grateful.

-Someone wanna give her a gun? She doesn’t have her own outside of her ICER which is just a powerful sedative gun, and it doesn’t have many bullets inside it.

-More than willing to help save people, so if you want to be saved let me know. Just a warning though, Skye isn’t someone highly skilled with things like this, so she will panic but try to remain as calm as possible.

-If anyone wants to save Skye, I’m sure she’ll easily get in over her head. Running is going to be difficult as is, and she is likely to trip. She’d rather not become part of the ‘carpet’, thanks. Maybe her gun jams(if she gets one). Either way, help would be appreciated.

Virus:

-Skye will be getting the flu, and on the severity scale, I’d place her on the moderate side. She’ll want to help as much as she can, but obviously, she’s going to be struggling. I’m not signing her up for the additional plot, BUT, I might go with the humanoids. I say ‘might go’ because she may be wary unless someone she trusts is going too.

- Shiro will be going in, only as far as the bodies. And then probably have to leave. That's a Little Too Much.
- He'll stay up top to help with the ropes and climbing.
- And will probably make himself go back down there to help someone if they start screaming for it, whoops.

ILLNESS
- guess which dummy didn't get the shot, this one
- he will NOT be going into the worse symptoms, just enough to need to rest his dumb self
- illness will include: dry mouth and throat, dizziness, nausea, fevers and bad night sweats, and nerve issues
- ... so it's basically a regular flu, except he may end up poking things with his right hand because WOW I CAN FEEL THINGS GUYS!!

GENERAL
- he'll probably be down for a lot of the later parts of the event
- however, this doesn't mean he won't FORCE himself out to help if someone absolutely needs it
- so he won't be participating in the sign ups as of NOW
- I'm open to just about anything except for the note at the top!

I can definitely understand that sinkhole being a little 'too' much. If he's doing the Exploration-side, that is an option for the latter portion of the event. I'm also avoiding symptoms of the disease that go beyond disorientation. None of the heavy body horror sequences.

So if you're up for it, I am, though I'd like to be certain on what is ok and not ok with disease references before that crops up. In the meantime 'topside setup' is definitely an option. Someone has to guard the ropes so she can talk with him before going down herself.

- Guess who can fly! That's right, it's this bird.
- Human bodies don't bother him, so he'll likely go investigate deep down.
- if you ask nicely, he'll probably try and carry people he doesn't... hate. Or if the Android party asks him to.

MONSTERS
- Kagerou is combat capable and, again, isn't terribly bothered by warped looking humans, or dead looking humans.
- The only trouble being you might have to yell at him a lot before he makes an effort to assist.
- He's armed with a sword and a kusarigama, so he isn't incapable of holding off a monster if push comes to shove.

EXPLORERS
- Kagerou is signed up for the explorers
- He's doing this because his android fam didn't get the shot, so he's worried, but damn if he knows how to heal anyone.
- he may be more open to friendly interactions if he knows his fam is getting looked after by these people

GENERAL
- I'm open to just about anything except for the note at the top!
- Kagerou is not the most... social of people. But he might have to. So anything that makes him less guarded or more open is awesome.

Brianna Berenson | Gone

Breeze is going to be signing up as an explorer after she recovers from her escape attempt! She wasn't around when the flu shots were given out so she'll also be getting the virus and she'll be hit by it pretty hard.

Sinkhole Exploration

→ Breeze is canonically not afraid of much, so she'll do fine in the sinkhole initially. She's also used to seeing dead people, although... not in such huge numbers. It will freak her out but she'll try not to show it. Still, she's 13.

→ Breeze is going to be bringing along her machete. If anyone wants to kill monsters or get their butt saved by a literal child, lmk! Alternatively, if anyone wants to stop a literal child from getting herself killed via being a reckless idiot, we can do that.

→ She'll start coming down with the virus while still in the sinkhole and try to soldier on for a while, but end up failing miserably and have to go or get dragged back to the surface.

Post-exploration

→ Breeze is going to have the flu! She canonically gets hit by sickness hard, so she'll be extremely sick—fever, dizziness, forgetfulness, bleeding, and skin peeling. Not gonna have her die, tho. She lives alone so if anyone wants to, like, make her stay at their place for the duration of the virus??

Plotting | Shinichi Izumi

I won't be signing him up for either Medic or Explorer role, but plan to focus on him getting ill!

the Erasure Virus:
• His immune system is already weaker because of the effects of his alien parasite companion draining him more here, and he didn't have the flu shot before. I'll probably have him get pretty ill eventually, and would like to explore various symptoms along the way. I don't think I'll be killing him just yet, but anything else is game!

• I'd also really like to play with the personality change feature, since he's already been experiencing some of that as it is (he's been slipping into more frequent spells of mind-fusing with Migi, which causes them to become some weird Default Parasite Brain mixture). So he's already been having some sporadic changes from his usually sweet self into something darker and weirder. As the flu causes worse dissociation, I'm planning to have him start thinking he actually is a parasite from back home? Meaning he'll get colder and more emotionless, refer to "humans" with all the manner of an alien that came to earth to get rid of that careless species, and potentially find them appetising. SO THERE'S THAT. (Note: while I'm up to get as dark as you like, I'm also fine with keeping it on the light-hearted scale if you don't want to play into anything too gory or intense! Shinichi is a character who can easily go from sweet to disgusting HAHA, and I'm here for anywhere on that spectrum that you're comfortable with.)

• This could lead to Migi seeking people to try and help his host out? If anyone wants an alien hand friend.... He'll be keeping them away from places with too many people around, for Shinichi's safety, but still be doing research about the town (and anything else he can research) here and there. Eventually he will coax Shinichi to head to the mountains to get help there, too.

sean is two things: a good cliff-climber, and very tired of being so reactive to all the crap deerington throws their way.

as such he is going to climb into the sinkhole. he's going to regret it deeply, but he's gonna do it.

what i'm more or less thinking is that sean is going to climb his way down the sinkhole to the corpse mountain, maybe make it to the bottom of the mountain even. but he is definitely not at the point of walking across a sewn-together network of dead people, so that's going to be the point that he peaces out and climbs his ass back out.

so if anybody wants to 1. find him crouching somewhere around the lip of the sinkhole, contemplating his own bad life choices, 2. join him in climbing in and then changing his mind, or 3. climb in with him, but keep going where he refuses to, let me know 8)

sean didn't get a flu shot when they were handing them out (thanks, connor and henry......) so he'll definitely be succumbing to the erasure virus.

he'll probably not be dying of it, but he will definitely have dry mouth, vomiting, dizziness/nausea, and dissociation symptoms. he's a little bit of a pro at powering through illnesses, mostly by necessity, but he will not enjoy it.

so, basically: any medics who he can go to to get checked up when his symptoms first appear, any fellow sufferers who want to complain about their shitty luck, or anybody who's putting together the vaccine with this illness are welcome!

Elizabeth is going to venture into the sinkhole, if anyone is up for exploring with her! After her encounter with the angels last month she'll be drawn toward the light and singing of the Winter Lanterns and will definitely need rescuing from that.

As she's been isolated from the world her whole life, Elizabeth's immune system is terrible and she'll get sick. She'll try to hide it at first and want to help care for others, but she will be very symptomatic by the end of the event.

Okay let's do this. I had Max very passive for the last event so I'm gonna be tagging out a lot and writing more exciting starters for this one.

Sinkhole

Max is gonna go down there purely to keep an eye on Chloe, because she knows this is one of the worst ideas in the world. Pretty sure they're gonna get separated really quickly, given what it's like down there.

I'm honestly up for ALL the monsters. Max will need saving from zombies if anyone wants that! A very tense scene of hiding from Lickers is definitely in order. And as for the Winter Lanterns... do you want to write out your character going nuts, but not be out for the rest of the event? Because Max can reverse time and rewind that stuff away!

The Flu and Exploration

Signed up as an explorer! She's going to catch the flu, and it'll slowly get pretty bad. I'll have the worst symptoms kick in as she's exploring, starters for that will depend on the second part of the event. But I'm gonna go pretty heavy on both the physical and mental symptoms. I might even have her think she's Nathan Prescott (read: entitled psycho douchebag) from Life is Strange. Still debating on that last point, but it's a thing.

SINKHOLE

Wow, a giant creepy hell chasm under the earth, it's practically got FEAR's name on it! Which is to say Majima will be flying down. I'm into:

- The mountain of bodies, because as much as he doesn't care much for the townspeople and is kinda used to seeing dead bodies, seeing this many corpses will touch that gooey, soft center of his. He doesn't like seeing normal people suffer, but he'll absolutely dispatch attacking corpses if he needs to. I'd like to play up the gore angle here, if anyone's interested in a bloody, dirty battle and body horror.

- Lickers and Winter Lanterns: Also these, before they eventually head back! After the corpsepile, Majima will be using his suit to stealth, so this will probably be more tactical.

Misc!

- Other than that, I probably won't be giving Majima the Erasure Virus, but he's more than willing to look after anyone who's sick. If you'd like a caretaker with a high tolerance for grossness who will try to keep your character's mind off their possibly impending doom, I think it'd be lovely to play out a bit of this as well! Extra points for existing CR that wants to die on him, ijs. He'll do his best to comfort them and try to get them to remember who/where they are.

Kaede/Nyu | Elfen Lied

Kaede is still dealing with some residual damaged vision from the angels last month, though she's been slowly healing from that. Currently I'm planning on her getting sick, but not terribly so. Some coughing, restless sleep, dissociation, personality switching, the usual. The latter of which is a feature, not a bug.

These are pretty much perfect conditions (sick, injured, generally out of sorts) for Nyu to appear! She's the gentler, kinder, and all around friendlier personality living in Kaede's head, a bit like the Jekyll to Kaede's Hyde. She isn't as exuberant and outgoing as earlier in canon, since she's from the same Traumatic Death Timeline Kaede is at, but she'll actually be nice to people. If quieter and with occasional moments of existential dread. She can also use Kaede's freaky jazzhands telekinesis too, though she's less precise with it and may knock things over midair.

I'll likely be signing her up as a Medic; though her medical knowledge is pretty basic and extends mostly to scrapes and headaches, she is much more enthusiastically caring than Kaede is. So she can be someone's subdued-but-eventually-cheerful intern who...apparently keeps scribbling detailed notes to herself expecting that she's going to forget the past day. Weird.

I had wanted to tag you last month but got swamped! I'd be down to have Lance meet Kaede when Nyu is in control and then later meet her again when she's totally different. That would be fun to play with. Is she mostly going to be helping around the medical tents and such?

First and foremost, I am going to be stupidly slow in responding to anything. I have a new-ish job, and it wears me out, so the only guaranteed time I'll be able to respond is the weekends, though I get lucky sometimes and squeeze in some tagging during the week. BUT I WILL RESPOND. I will backtag for a long time.

What do I want to have happen? Cable is going spelunking. Then he's going to get really damn sick. He'll fight it for a while because he's a Summers and it's What They Do. I'd like to see him have a close call with one of the monsters and get told that he's going to leave now. So he'll go to his house, not the mountain where smart people go. Cable does some stupid things. He means well, though. Keep that in mind when someone shows up and he nearly blows their head off with his grenade launcher.

Maybe that's all a little too specific and should be in a top level. I DON'T KNOW.

Since Eliot won't volunteer to explore shit unless he has a very good reason, he's not going anywhere near that sinkhole.

Thus, the boy's getting sick. Very sick. It'll start mildly, but he's going to need help to get up the mountain eventually. He's going to be delirious... and will probably try to deny that he's sick at all. But the cracking skin is going to be a big indicator that something's wrong. I'm not going to kill him off (this is only his second month, after all), but he's going to be close.

Soooooyeah he's going to need people to take care of him...

Notions:
Daemon got the flu shot ever-so-long-ago, so I'm going to opt to keep him from getting sick. But that means! He is available to take care of those who are sick, or like...find them falling to pieces, etc.
In sinkhole news: he can carry people (precariously) down into the sinkhole proper and provide intermittent light for them (horror movie style), since his powers are still janky. Though he will be an adventurer, with the see-in-the-dark thing, so.
Alternatively, I'm interested in him encountering a magic lantern at some point and having it nom his brains a little bit so that it takes out a chunk of his self-control (until he dies later...possibly after the next chunk of event; it's about that time).
Any other adventurey/CR things would be lovely. I'm a hop and a skip from a clean slate, and I'm ready for a good number of new threads! New CR is especially welcome. :D

ETA: OH! Daemon's now part of FEAR and a new magic subdepartment. Come do magic FEAR stuff with him!
