Mod Announcement
Thank You From the Mod Team!
Hello everyone! We would like to thank everyone in the game for being such a responsive and interactive player base! You guys really make our jobs as Mods easier and more enjoyable.
We recognize that we have had a few rough months as we have had extenuating circumstances to overcome in our personal lives, and we genuinely appreciate every one of you that has been understanding and patient! We would like to thank our new mod helpers for making our jobs significantly easier and helping to make this game run smoother.
As it is the game's first year, we realize that the game will have plenty of kinks and flaws and we aim to work on them on a regular basis. As always, if you feel like something could be improved upon, never feel shy on leaving back helpful criticism on how we can improve this game! We aim to make it as fun of an experience for everyone as we can while maintaining our vision for the game's story line!
Regarding the maintenance of the game, we have two announcements to make in regards to two aspects of the game! The Location Unlock Rewards and the Locations Page in general. Please read closely!
Regarding Unlock Location Requests
As many of you are aware this game provides a reward system in which players can use their bonus points to unlock certain locations in Deerington. The original idea behind this reward was to provide players the chance at discovering more about Deerington than would be released in events/regular settings.Unfortunately our mod team underestimated how time-consuming fulfilling these rewards would be. We recognize and deeply apologize to how long it has taken for the unlocked rewards to be fulfilled. Thank you to everyone who has been so patient and understanding about these unlocks. With the immense quality of the events on top of other aspects of the game, the unlocks have somehow fallen behind on what we have time to get to per month.
Due to this negligence, we have decided to ask the game as a whole their personal feelings on the Unlocks. We do not believe we can maintain this system, but we are interested in inventing a new, more cohesive and manageable system of clues that players can use their bonus rewards to purchase instead! We did not want to make any full decisions regarding this aspect of the game without consulting the game itself, so while this may seem like a lot to read, we do appreciate you taking the time to read it!
Due to the fact that the poll is through google forms, we have explained each question below.
Question 1: Let us know who you play so that we know we're hearing from our players!
Question 2: An alternative clue base system. The idea behind locations is to have a way for players to pick up on details of the story and explore the vast world of Deerington. If we implement a clue based system. Then we will have a series of random clues set at different reward point values - 500, 1000, 3000 - Or something along those lines. You will be able to purchase short clues about the plot and setting that you will be able to apply to your personal posts or events occurring within the game.
We do ask, if this system is implemented, that whoever purchases the clue must thread out its discovery as well as create an open post where players can respond. We know that the Location Unlocks are a fun way to explore CR and share information and we don't want to change that aspect of the rewards.
Question 3: How do you want us to handle new information on the Deerington Location page? This may be applicable to any clue-system we have in the future. Just let us know how involved you would prefer to be in the release of new information!
If you are currently waiting for an unlocked location, none of this will impact your unlock! You have already purchased your reward, and while it might take some time on our end to fulfill, we will fulfill it regardless of the game-wide choice that is made through this poll. However as of right now, we will no longer be accepting new unlocks until this current situation is decided on.
Please post general comments or suggestions on this page. We greatly appreciate all comments, suggestions and concerns that might help improve the game.
New Locations!
We know we promised brand new locations back in November, but as discussed above, the mod team had several extenuating circumstances that put us behind a bit on some of our game plans. However we have finally managed to update our locations page!
The updated page can be found where the original page used to be. We have a handful of fun new locations for characters to work at and visit! We also have a brand new section for you to request a Character Buisness. Due to the lack of traffic on the player-location requests page, we have decided to omit that from our game. We now only allow character businesses! You do not need to request a character business: instead just fill out the form and post it. Please pay attention to the guidelines and rules. If we feel like your business is inappropriate or needs adjustment, we will send you a PM with the request for change. We do not expect this to be much of an issue, however.
The fun new locations that are available for the game are as follows (please visit the location page itself for more information on each!):
1. Yummy Garden Hot Pot: This is a traditional Chinese restaurant that serves both classic Chinese dishes as well as hot pot!
2. The Antler Drive-In: Drive-in movies that play double-feature films at 6pm-2am every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
3. Broadcasting Station: Characters can now visit AND work at the Broadcasting station! The station has undergone a few changes in order for this to be possible!
4. Pixie's Booze and Moves: This is a music shop that sells records, record players, and instruments. There is a basement that is a combination of bar and stage where musicians can perform every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.
5. Paintbrush Kingdom: An art supplies shop where you can buy just about anything you need for your newest art project! This also has a dark room photographers can use.
6. Stacy's Department Store: Essentially a Macy's combined with a Target. This shop provides clothing, electronics, toys, and just about anything you might need. Everything is of course dated from the 50s- except for the electronics. You can get some modern goodies from the electronics section!
7. Wasteland Thrift Shop: This is the cheapest place you can buy clothing and furniture! Everything is second-hand/used. You might even find some goodies from home.....After all, anyone can donate to this shop including people not of this world!
8. The Red Sparrow Day Spa (Day and Night): During the day, this is a relaxing spa that provides all kinds of services you'd expect from a spa. At night though? This location transforms into a sultry brothel. You can buy time with prostitutes or exotic dancers in the evening.
9. Thimble and Closet: This store supplies all your needs for making clothing. It also provides tailor/seamstress services for the more hopeless.
10. The Junkyard: This has all kinds of spare parts! This ranges from cars, fridges, bikes, and whatever else people might think to throw out. Since anyone can donate to the junkyard, it is a lot like the thrift shop where you might be lucky enough to find some goodies from other worlds.
Enjoy and explore all these locations! The employment page will be updated between tonight or tomorrow to reflect the new employment opportunities people may have at these locations!
Thank you everyone for reading! As always, leave a comment below if you have any questions about any of these updates.

As I said in a private message, I think that instituting a clue-system is a good solution to the problem of the scale of unlocks. Each unlock, from what I've seen, is effectively a mini-event that you've elected to write out in almost as much detail as the primary events. This can mean that you have 2 events in a month, possibly three if you guys have a lot planned for the month.
That's doubling your workload with regularity, so I think pairing this down to purchased clues (which can be presented in about a paragraph or two) that players then incorporate in their own material is ideal. It isn't quite as 'flashy' as a full mini-event, but it puts the onus on the player to make of it what they will, which avoids you becoming overworked.

And maybe new locations can be used for monthly logs at some point, too! Like how you integrated Stacys into a log. It gives the location more focus (since mod-posted main event logs are usually what people focus on most) and helps carry the story of Deerington along with or without clues.
