A FOND FAREWELL FOR NOW

Hello for the last time for a while, Deerlings!

As of July 1st, our game’s first chapter has officially ended. After this point, our game will be sandbox only. Communities will be left open so that our current players may continue to back tag things or start new threads (log or network) for the remaining months of Deerington’s existence (June, July, August respectively). The entire town will be gone by September and all characters will have either returned home or will be waking up in the new game.

We will not be processing any new requests this point forward. We will be processing waiting questions/requests in the meantime. We ask for a little patience as our head mod has been dealing with persistent health issues this month - but don't worry, we haven't forgotten about anyone!

Please follow our OOC community for updates on the new game! I hope to release the full game information well ahead of time so people can read through its information pages and start planning for the new chapter! Since I’m a workaholic you can anticipate seeing a release of the full game sooner rather than later.

At this time you are welcome to use old events, tag back on things you had missed, catch up on threads, conclude character arcs, etc.

The Summoning Stones and the Great Sleep will no longer be accessible. Canon updates will also no longer be effective during this time. If you have a canon update occur during the summer you can still use the half-application - just make sure to include the canon update section when you do.

Per Death Certificates: Characters may still die but hauntings/deer statues will no longer be relevant. If a character dies at this point in-game, they will simply wake up in the new world/their home. There will be no dream for them to be brought back to. If you have any requests waiting from prior to July 1st, we will get to you soon!

If at any time you have a dire question for our team, please let us know on this page or contact Milk directly via Plurk or Discord. Do not PM the mod journal/plurk. Do not use any other page in the game for any lingering questions. We will no longer be tracking pages.

Important Dates to Look For

We have our official calendar and schedule planned for the upcoming months and Early Access dates. These are the official dates and will likely not change.

The full release of all game information will be dependent on when it is finished in its entirety by Milk. As soon as it looks good to go, we will update this community, Discord, and Plurk to let everyone know! At that point, you will be able to follow the new game for new game information.

Earlyish August: First TDM goes live. This TDM will be open to the public and you will not need to have previously played in Deerington to play on it. Keep your eyes peeled! We will drop this at random.

August 27th: Early Access Reserves Open. Early Access is for prior Deerington members only.

September 1st: First Newsletter.

September 1st-5th: Early Access Applications Open on 1st and close by the 5th.

Plotting details for the event are posted.

September 8th: Transition/Early Access Event. This event will exist specifically to bridge original Deerington Sleepers into the new setting and allow for a "reunion" atmosphere before the game gets rolling.

September 26th: Early Access ends. Official Reserves open to public. Chapter 2's first TDM goes live.

October 1st: Chapter 2 officially opens. Anyone can now apply regardless of having been in Deerington previously or not.

October 1st-5th: Official applications open to public. All allowed to apply in. Applications open on the 1st and close on the 5th.

Plotting details for the event are posted.

October 8th: First official event goes live.

October 15th: First official CR meme goes live.

October 27th: Reserves open + TDM posted.

November 1st: Newsletter posted. First AC cycle starts.

January 1st 2022: We will no longer accept split-applications from old Deerington players. All applications from this application cycle moving forward will have to be the full Chapter 2 application.

Dates will always be routinely given in Newsletters as will reminders for AC and the like. Thank you!

FINAL CALL FOR CHAPTER 1!

LAST ROUND OF RESERVES: Starting tonight at midnight - 5th.

LAST ROUND OF ACTIVITY CHECKS: Starting tonight at midnight. AC will not be required for May but to those interested in Early Access for Chapter 2 you must have an AC comment posted to the AC page within the last seven months (Dec 2020 & Jan, Feb, March, April, May, and June of 2021) to be qualified.

LAST ROUND OF APPLICATIONS: May 5th-10th.

Per CHAPTER 2

Recent Chapter 2 Preview

Reminder that voting will start on May 7th. These votes are generally considered to be IC decisions that will be heavily reliant on character perception of the major NPCs of the game and what to do with them. We strongly urge players to have characters ICly discuss the voting decisions for a more realistic approach - but of course, we also know there are a dozen or characters who don't need to have conversations before making their own brash decisions (and we love them for it).

There will be an NPC-companion event that will provide further insight into NPCs and their roles within the game as well as their current point of existence. Between this companion event and the prior mini-events, we hope characters have enough general information to make a decision on. This decision should generally feel Intense and Important because...Well...It is!

A companion event will also be posted towards the end of June that will detail the exact results of the votes and their impact on the NPCs. Both these companion events are entirely optional and will not serve as the focus of the core events of May or June. They will have some explanations about the core story of Deerington and some of Chapter 2 so for those interested in lore, we highly recommend partaking!


While we have supplied a good chunk of information for Chapter 2 presently, we will be supplying more information about the powers/setting once the door has been voted on. You can anticipate this post after June 5th when the voting has concluded.


If you have any questions about Chapter 2, feel free to ask on the Preview post linked above or on this post. We will continue to provide players with updated posts and give people chances to ask questions whenever they need. Even after the game closes in June, we will continue to post to our OOC community with any new information or developments.

Hello Deerlings! We have decided to better accommodate the pacing of the end of the game, we have altered the event posting schedule to the following:

April 7th: Plotting post for April event goes live.

April 10th: April Event goes live

May 7th: Plotting post for May goes live.

May 10th: May Event goes live.

June 10th: June plotting post and event post go live at the same time.

As a reminder, May 5-10th is our last application cycle for Deerington Chapter 1. You can reference the full endgame calendar here.

Please let us know if this endgame pacing would work better overall for the pacing of how events are posted in Chapter 2. We understand that sometimes posting events live on the 15th often feels like you spend half of the month waiting for the event to be posted and have realized it might work better if we scale back when that information is available closer to the beginning of the month.

Feedback is always appreciated! Especially as we move forward into the next chapter of our game.

Hello Deerlings! After some discussion, we have updated how applications will work for people who are planning to take their character straight from Deerington into the new setting. We realized this would make a lot more sense and work better for our current playerbase! You will only need to fill out the powers/setting section of the application so that we can understand how you plan to translate your character into their new world. We will let you link to your original accepted Deerington application for the history/personality section.

If you plan to apply as an entirely new character or take your character from a fresh canon point/erase their Deerington CRAU then we will require a full application to be filled out.

We hope that this works better for everyone! Thank you! We have updated this information to the Chapter 2 information post.

Due to the severe weather occurring this month, we have decided to make February AC check-in only for those who may be without power/struggling during this time.

If you need someone to post AC for you, please get a hold of a friend or contact us so we can arrange for a mod to check-in for you. If anyone has any extenuating concerns, please let us know and we will help to accommodate anyone at this time.

For those struggling in the cold and are unfamiliar, please check out this article for helpful and safe tips on staying warm.

If your power has gone out during the cold and you are concerned about food spoiling, we suggest removing the food from your fridge and temporarily storing it in a garage/outside (in a sealed bin) to keep it fresh. We hope everyone remains safe and warm!

NEW EVENT/PLOTTING DATES

Hello Deerlings!

It seems as though the majority of the game is in agreement that we should post events+plotting post ahead of Start Dates.

We are thinking that this would be our new event-plotting-prelude schedule from this point on:

The 4-5th of Each Month: Event Details + Plotting Post
11-12th of Each Month: Live Event
20-25th of Each Month: Preludes (may vary depending on significance of prelude)

We are going to reformat our plotting posts to include the actual event prompts and details. This should allow players to use the plotting post as a full-service reference for all event information.

We will then post the actual event live on the event's start date which will always be clarified on both the prelude and the plotting posts.

You can anticipate the event information for October's event to now be posted on October 4th. For larger events, we will make sure to set up posts a little earlier.

NOVEMBER REMINDERS

While we are here we just want everyone to remember that the last possible date to spend bonus points will be October 31st. After that we will be disabling comments on our rewards page but will leave the page accessible to players for a point of reference.

The change in how characters icly obtain items has to do with the November event and so we will be posting the November Prelude on October 20th so that players can begin to adjust and understand the new system.

We understand there are a lot of changes going on in the game right now but we are hoping to be smoothed back out by November, so thank you for your patience and for your cooperation! We appreciate everyone's feedback.

Players who have volunteered to help edit for November can be expected to be contacted sometime after the November Prelude has been posted.

Hello Deerlings! As many of you know, our October Prelude was posted earlier to help people with planning. Many players have appreciated the additional time and some have asked if the actual events could be posted ahead of their technical "start dates" - however we do not want players to feel overwhelmed with content either.

We would like to hear everyone's feedback on whether they think this would be helpful as a whole or if it would feel overwhelming.

The general idea would be that we post events ahead of their "start dates" as well as plotting posts so people could get their ideas and plans ready ahead of time rather than our current system where we post the event on the actual start date.

We are getting to the point where if we continue using the current Activity Check page, we will likely hit 5000 comments before the end of next month. Because of that, starting with July 2020 activity, we will be using this new page. Please make a new top-level for your character and be sure to post your activity on this page next month. We will not be checking the old page for activity going forward, and if you comment to the old page, you may risk being swept from the game.

I will post reminders on the Deerington plurk account and in the Deerington Discord server over the course of the month. Links on the navigation page as well as in the acceptance notes for applications have been updated.
