Mod Announcement Regarding AC
Mod Announcements
Hello Deerlings! We have some very important announcements in regards to AC and Rewards so please make sure to read carefully.
As the layers of Deerington are stripped away, Sodder will gradually become weaker and weaker, and characters who are sensitive to abilities/world functions will be able to pick up on that deteriorating power. As Sodder becomes weaker she will no longer be able to deliver gifts to Sleepers the same way that she used to.
As such this means that our Rewards options will, unfortunately, be coming to a close. Fear not, Deerlings! That does not mean characters won't be able to get goodies in-game anymore. Far from it, actually!
But let's first break down the technical side of this - the part that's relevant to you, the players.
The last time players will be able to collect bonus points will be for the September AC cycle. Afterward we will be changing our AC system to base AC only. Collecting base AC will remain the exact same as it has and we will update our AC page accordingly for the switch when the time comes.
Players will have up until October 31st to claim rewards with their bonus point collection. No reward requests past this date will be accepted.
October 1-5th: AC Check & last time to collect bonus reward points.
October 31st: Last time to spend any bonus reward collection points.
November 1st-Onward: AC will only require the base 30 points to remain active in-game. Rewards will be permanently closed.
AC Passes/Check-ins/Strikes/Hiatuses will function the same indefinitely.
Now, we don't want to take rewards out of the equation entirely! We want to have a conversation with the game as a whole about our alternate options and we're here to present you with some of the running ideas we have had. We'd love to hear back from our players as to what they think! Feel free to agree or disagree with our presented ideas or even make your own suggestions if you don't think ours are quite hitting the mark.
These are all loose ideas. We would explain various parameters more clearly once we got close to finalizing the decision of our reward alternatives.
Blessing Baskets Basics: Ordinary items that have no abilities/powers may still come through the baskets. Clothing, items from home, ordinary weapons, advanced technology. Anything larger would likely need to be limited to come in parts and require assembly.
Monthly Rituals: To honor the occult themes in-game we thought it might be interesting if characters must perform a specific ritual during certain conditions (full moons) in order to obtain magical/powered items. This would demand direct involvement from characters ICly going out of their way to ask for/try to obtain certain items.
We would likely post a "seance/ritual" post during that month's full moon and that would be the time allotted to characters getting items. This would require you to execute some sort of IC-scene to gain whatever magical/powerful items. You would need to make requests during this period (three days of the full moon) in order to gain an item, but scenes could go on for as long as necessary to finish them.
Additionally, there will still be many instances during events where characters will be able to obtain unique, fun items or items from home.
All magical/powerful items would still require usual game warping. For monthly rituals, we would likely have a section per post where you'd request items and give a minor explanation about any abilities/powers.
Although it seems like a bummer to get rid of rewards, we also feel like this change will make "rewards" more accessible to players in-game who maybe don't have the time to gain thousands of bonus points for items. We hope we can work towards a viable and interesting solution for our playerbase in terms of future rewards. So if you have any ideas as to reward-obtainment, please let us know in some comments below!
We want to hear your feedback on this. Thank you for reading!
There are a variety of unique rewards for the game's setting such as death banishings and story clues. Please read the following to understand how we will be dealing with these with the new system:
Death Symptoms Ease/Ghost Banishments: You will still fill out the appropriate forms and instead of spending points, you will just clarify that you wish to have a haunting banished. Similarly, you will explain that you want symptoms alleviated and just go into a bit of detail on what symptoms may be alleviated.
Story Clues, Personal Horrors, Surprise Grants: We will, unfortunately, be ending all of these. We feel that with the mini-events providing clues to the main story may run into some redundancy with story clues. Surprise Grant type items may still be acquired through unique items in-game events. As for personal horrors, we would like to remind the player base that you may use the player plot page at any time. We were considering making a section for people to invent unique mini-plots to post to the page that anyone can use.
Sleeper Creatures: We will default to a "free" system where you can fill out the regular form for Sleeper Creatures. Instead of paying the fee to make a character a creature or taking it away from them, you will just explain in greater detail how you plan to make either of these things happen in-game canon.
Dream Gifts: These will remain largely unaffected by the transition as dream gifts are regularly given to Sleepers for free. Drachma will still be granted in-game events and we will update a drachma's ability-range so that it can possibly be used to obtain other unique items/situations such as banishing a haunting.
AC Passes: If someone wishes to obtain an AC pass we are considering allowing a player to provide "bonus proof" of their current AC. We would likely outline this pass-reward on the AC page itself and provide a form as to how to do that.
Stabilizing Gem: As the world's layers get stripped away, we actually plan to have character abilities naturally become more stable. As the game goes on stability stones will become less necessary. If they are a genuinely sought after item, however, we can make sure to leave the information up and provide another way to gain them in the setting.
Antidote: This is primarily used for Sleeper Creatures and to tamper down abilities in-game. Although it's a valuable reward we do feel like there are enough characters in-game that could organically create a similar antidote and so we feel that this item can be removed entirely. Of course, let us know if you feel otherwise.
Please let us know if you have suggestions or opinions on anything listed above. We feel like this will overall not impact the playerbase too much and will instead just encourage a new way to obtain items. Please understand that these are relatively loose ideas and not the "final product" so to speak. We wanted to hear from our players what they think of these changes even if it's a "good to go boss" or "why are you torturing us this way."
Thank you, again, for being an engaging playerbase and open to discussing changes with us.
Page Adjustments + Mod Helper Introduction
As the game goes through plot changes there will be reflections of those changes throughout town. We will update pages accordingly and will inform the game through our monthly preludes when/if a page has been updated.
Most changes will not directly impact a character's personal home, business, or life in general, but there will be changes characters can pick up on.
Keep an eye out for these updated page announcements on preludes!
Moving forward people will no longer be able to write letters/send anything to The Dog Keeper or Sodder. This has to do with the thinning of the layers. This will be further clarified in the Dog Keeper's "Story So Far" post.
We would also like to introduce all of you to our Official Mod Helper - Claire! Claire will help with the upkeep of our lists, drops, and help in making sure this game runs smoothly. Claire's contact information has been updated to the Mod Contact page.
Thank you to everyone who has offered your help! We may still reach out to some of you as we reorganize our game to get a better sense of what areas require more attention and who might be able to help with things like AC count.
Our 6th Death Has Occurred!
As most of you know characters can die and be resurrected up to six times in-game. Once the seventh death happens...
Well, that's the mystery, isn't it? We have reached our first canonical sixth-death in-game which means when that seventh death finally comes you can all anticipate a 7th Death Mini Event that will unlock further information about death in-game. Who knows? It might also provide some unique...abilities...For those who die in-game. But hey, we'll just have to wait and see what happens, won't we!
THANK YOU + FEEDBACK & SUGGESTIONS
As always we welcome feedback and suggestions to any of this information. Additionally if you have feedback overall about the game please feel free to speak up!
If you have any questions concerning any of this information, please feel free to ask in a comment below!

Piggybacking with a question for mods—
Would we still have that ability as long as it's consistent with the level of effects used before?

We are thinking of having a permanent ritual page that will basically replace our current rewards page. On that page, we can make a section for "reoccurring rewards/enchantments/etc" that you guys can fill out so you don't have to worry about constantly filling it out every month.
So yeah, it will be similar to what you're already doing. If you ever need to update any information or what you're doing you'll be able to on whatever reoccurring comment you've made/add onto it. Thank you for bringing this up!
Let us know if this makes sense / seems fair and functional for your needs.
