Character Name: Fern
Age: 16
Employment in Deerington: Weapons and combat specialist at F.E.A.R. No school, that's for nerds.
Residence in Deerington: 437 Alison Road until November, then temporarily at 302 Clover Lane with Will Graham, then a treehouse.
Day to Day Activities: Fern typically spends time outside wandering around town or lying around being contemplative in trees or on people's lawns. He can also be found at F.E.A.R. or out in nature-y places, practicing fighting or doing plant stuff. Throughout winter he won't be found outside as often due to the cold weather, and will be sleeping a lot more.

About This Character: Fern is the result of Finn getting turned into a sentient sword and merging with another sentient cursed sword, the Grass Sword. Physically that means he's now made out of grass and has various plant and shapeshifting powers. Mentally that means he has two separate minds making up his Fern self: that of a human teenager who grew up in a post-apocalyptic Earth and has strong opinions on heroism thanks to being a knight, and an eldritch horror who is completely loyal to said human teenager while simultaneously influencing Finn's darker thoughts and feelings. His self esteem is essentially non-existent so he's often extremely self-loathing, and he generally thinks violence solves everything. On top of all that he has severe problems with his identity, having lost his previous one as Finn. He has a lot of pent-up frustration and emotional instability, and on really bad days this can cause him to have destructive melt downs.
Any Warnings: Being made out of grass Fern comes with buckets of body horror! On top of that his self esteem is in shambles, he hates himself, and still has issues with his identity. He also has very violent tendencies. Grass Demon comes with cephalopod and spider imagery.

Present Life: It's autumn! Bad times for Fern, he's having to deal with October's lack of sunlight (mostly mitigated with artificial lighting), the colder weather, and the organs replacing soil in the ground. All of that is leaving him exhausted physically, and the last couple months have left him exhausted mentally. He's having a really hard time with his personhood and being a plant as well, which the October event will be exacerbating. All around he's pretty drained and resting a lot more than normal.
Future Ideas: Next month he will be moving out, which might also include destroying his house. This is something of a culmination of his housing situation since he entered the game, having sporadically trashed the place when his emotional instability got to be too much or in October, when monster!him decided to haul a bunch of dead bodies into the living room to feed off of. On the upside Logan is eventually building him a treehouse/greenhouse and while that is being built he'll be living with Will Graham.

He'll also need to go shopping for winter clothing in November! His grass clothing isn't going to cut it in the cold weather, unfortunately. Time for a whole lot of adorably ugly sweaters.

CR You Want: Any! Adults who he can latch onto as parental figures, bad influences to keep his moral compass shaky, fellow teenagers, royalty, younger kids he can older brother at, people who think the grass thing is weird/creepy/interesting. I'm happy with both positive and negative cr.

*laughs* Well, speaking of bad influences. I doubt either of my characters qualify as good ones. But hey, they're definitely around and available for continued shenanigans. I'll probably stick to throwing them at the dartboard and seeing which scenes stick, but if you have a preference, let me know.

Yesss! Fern will be clothes shopping next month for some lighter stuff, and I can tell you right now post-monster Larxene will freak him out a lot. Poor kid is really enjoying attacking hunters with her, so he'll be feeling a ton of guilt and anxiety over all of it after the event.

Yeah, it totally won't help that she'll have NO remorse over that, will it? Hahaha, poor Fern.

I'm always down for more good times with Jessie and Fern. The toy gang are just gonna adopt him and he's going to have to live with that. She'll just aggressively mother him until the end of time. She'll for sure be concerned about his emotional outbursts, but she'll get them too. It sure sucks to have your identity anchored to someone and have it backfire on you. Sure sucks, kiddo.

Haha yes pls the entire gang needs to adopt this sad grass child. Fern will be totally fine with mother henning too, that seems to be a running theme with his mother figures (Margaret in particular and he loved her so much).

You know what also sucks? Having an abandonment complex the size of Texas. They should bond about that sometime.

They do, he needs to become their responsibility. Someone's gotta look after the sad grass child. Aww and that's adorable! She will for sure mother hen him a whole lot.

God, they really should. What a brilliant thing to bond over, gosh, lucky them!

At some point, I would really love to thread with Fern again. Grass and tech are sorta opposite ends of the spectrum, but if you're looking for bad influences, Tech Boy is that in spades. Could be an interesting thing to explore.
