I AM HERE for sad follow-up, probably after Jon's trial? I'm planning on having Fern respond to that mess and I think he'll be un-despaired at that point.

Sounds good to me! Martin is going to feel conflicted about seeing Jon do all these horrible things to innocent people and ones that he likes. And he still needs to follow-up about Fern's spiders.
