Personal Style: Basically prose with brackets and small-text to indicate meta/action vs dialogue, but I can adjust to fit my partner's style. I'm both backtag- and boomerang-friendly

Character Name: Arid
Age: Likely somewhere between a few months to a couple of years old.
Employment in Deerington: None! Arid doesn't know AI can have paid jobs and thus just scavenges for things she needs.
Residence in Deerington: 300 David Cliff Apartments
Day to Day Activities: As a point-and-click protagonist, Arid spends most of her time wandering around Deerington and looking at/poking everything. Her apartment is full of random junk she picks up because it might be useful later.

About This Character: Arid is a combat suit AI (think JARVIS from Iron Man) from a universe where AI are both common and treated like shit by the humans who own them. Arid's owner was one such human who used Arid as a test subject for a new way to control AI: overwhelming fear. His experiment drove her to do awful things to other AI (and one human), for which she now seeks to redeem herself. That said, she hates humanity for what they did to her and her kind, and does not include them as a valid part of her redemption arc. Sorry, everyone.
Any Warnings: Arid’s backstory includes themes of abuse, brainwashing, and rape. Her canon at large includes themes of slavery and mentions of sex trafficking.

Present Life: When Arid first arrived in Deerington, she quickly latched on to the two characters she defined as synthetic and treated everyone else—humans especially—with suspicion. Though she did gradually warm to a handful of human characters, in June, Mother Superior put the idea in her head that none of the humans in Deerington were real. Arid latched on hard to this theory and decided that Deerington was a simulation, the humans were all AI, and thus, maybe they could all be friends?

Then, last week, arguable-human Jonathan Sims psychically tortured her so badly that she tore out her own battery to make it stop. She's now trapped in a weaker body and coping very badly with the situation at large. She's also changed her mind on the "maybe we can all be friends" thing because even if none of the Sleepers are actually human, clearly some of you are pretty close in terms of general assholery!!
Future Ideas: Getting a job. Finding hobbies. Getting over her trust issues with humans. Also, please insert fluff directly into my bloodstream.

CR You Want:

1. Friends: Arid's had a really shitty time of it lately and could use more positive CR. This can be difficult because she's a traumatized, angry, often violent AI with little-to-no empathy towards humans, but it's not impossible! After this month, Arid's going to be in a pretty dark place and could use both new friends and old friends to help pull her out of it!

1. Negative CR: Lbr, it's hard getting along with Arid. So why not take the path of least resistance and lean into it? Maybe your character doesn't like robots. Maybe they don't like Arid's humanophobia or her attempts to murder them due to Despair, etc. There's lot of ways to be enemies with this gal!

2. Extremely patient mentors: Due to her desire to redeem herself, Arid has great potential to learn new skills and try new things if she can be convinced that doing so will help her morally better herself. If you have a character who is passionate enough about their skills to convince her of their moral worth, we should talk!

3. AI/AI-adjacent characters: Do you have an AI character? Can your character be considered even vaguely synthetic or artificial? Arid is very determined to protect the synthetic lifeforms of Deerington and generally be kinder to them than she has been in the past, so she’ll almost certainly want to get to know them better!

4. Characters with AI-related experience/opinions: Does your character come from a canon with robots or AI? Do they just have strong opinions about AI in general? Let’s throw them at Arid and see what happens \o/

I really want to fling Kyoko at Arid and see how it goes! I don't think she'd get all that pressed about Arid's dislike of humans because no matter how you look at it, that's pretty valid.

Maybe they can be trauma buddies since the entire purpose of magical girls is to fall into despair. Don't worry Arid, organic sentient, emotionless creatures are just as bad as humans!

Also, I was just really excited to see somebody playing Arid.

That would be great! I'm canonblind to PMMM, but from Kyoko's info page, it sounds like she and Arid have a few commonalities that could make for some fun CR.

okay so Jeff isn't a tech dude at all and he doesn't really have any knowledge or opinion of AIs, but he's a friendly, patient person who likes to believe in others, so there could be some interesting ways for cr to go if you want to toss these two at each other sometime!

I'd offer Jeff up for skill teaching as a means for the two to meet, but uhhh I don't know if Arid would be interested in learning to play the guitar!

Unfortunately, Arid would not be interested in learning to play guitar unless she was convinced beforehand that it would serve her objective of morally bettering herself. That said, we could contrive some way for circumstance to throw them into each other? Maybe a Monokuma chases Arid into his house lol. Or we could see what opportunities arise later on!

lmao YEAH I figured guitar lessons would be a hilarious long shot. But Jeff can definitely provide kindness and patience! A surprise home visit could work as long as it happens before he goes all DESPAIR CRAZY (which is happening July 20th, and then he'll be dead/sick after that), but I know Arid's got a lot going on right now, so we can definitely wait for a calmer window between events if that works better.

I'll definitely be hitting you up during Jon's trial! I think there is potential for positive cr between these two, since Fern is no longer human and grew up with two robot 'brothers' (he even made one of them!), so he holds a lot of affection towards AI/AI-adjacent characters.

Plus, you know, bonding over hating on Jon's always a good time.
