WELCOME TO DEERINGTON!

Hello new players, and hello old players with new faces! We're thrilled to have you in the game and we hope your time here is horrifically wonderful! Please feel free to use this space to introduce yourselves to one another and show off your new characters! Below is some useful information for all new players of the game and how you can expect the game to function! You certainly do not need to read it in order to plunge into the game, but we felt it might prove useful for some people and help you adjust to how the game works quicker!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THIS MONTH

Check out this month's Prelude to catch up on what the setting will be for the month! New characters will receive any items/newspaper from the month's Prelude.

Please read our Story So Far post that will be available to all characters ICly. This is a good point of reference for anyone who wants to dig into the meaty core of the game's story.

Requirement for all new characters: Please make sure to comment with your character to the AC Page by the 20th. We will assume you've withdrawn your acceptance if we don't see your character on the AC page by then. This would be seen as idling out and you would have to wait for one application cycle before reapplying.

Content Warnings: Please make sure to check out our player-maintained content warnings excel sheet. We strongly encourage all players to fill this out.

PRELUDES, EVENTS, AND MORE

20-25th of Each Month:

You can expect a Prelude post made each month to provide details about Deerington's setting for the upcoming event/month. Prelude posts may just be descriptors of the location or may be deliverable posts by NPCs like Sodder or the Dog Keeper. Preludes occasionally will contain gifts or necessary items for a character! All Preludes are accessible to characters accepted during that month's application cycle. For example: the Prelude for December has gifts and settings that are accessible to every character accepted in December.

11th of Each Month:

A plotting post containing the event prompts will be posted so that players can read the event and plan for it ahead of time. There should be time for new players to get in on the plotting since all events officially go live on the 15th.

15th of Each Month:

We hold one event per month. Many of our events have a lasting impact on characters that will sometimes carry over a month or two after the original posting. We always clarify what parts of these events may carry over, and even as a new player, you may be able to access certain elements from events posted before you were in-game so always make sure to check out the Preludes for details about any carry-over prompts!

We provide content warnings for each of our events. Each event typically has a specific horror focus, and some events may be more specific than others. Please make sure to read the content warnings closely.

All of our events are specifically designed so players can feel comfortable opting out of any of the events without completely missing out on what's going on. Never feel you have to engage with any part of an event that makes you uncomfortable!

Mini-Events:

Some game-meta mini-events will be posted along with every other event. Clues to how to access these mini-events will be given in prior months. These mini-events are for players who want to get heavily involved in the story elements of the game. They are entirely optional. All mini-events are logged here and can be accessed at any time during your time in Deerington. All mini-events were created so that players can take their time exploring the story elements on their own schedule.

Every other 15th of the Month:

We have a CR meme that is posted every other month. This encourages people to make long-term plans with each other as well as catch up on what characters might be going through in the game!

End of Month:

Our Test Drive Meme is posted towards the end of each month. All TDM events can be used in game canon! You can also use direct TDM posts as AC! 10 points for a top-level (new characters only), 3 points per log comment, 1 point per network comment (all players).

STARTER INFO

While we have provided you with your essential links for joining the game, we have compiled a useful list of links you might be interested in for further immersion of the game!

↪Story So Far provides a general timeline of events that have occurred in-game for the first two years, just about. You do not need to read all of this to get into the game, but it may help with characters who are investigative.

↪ Social Media in Deerington: Social Media is a large part of how characters interact in Deerington. They use deerFeed, deerlyBeloved and Staggr. Read up more on how each of these apps function in the game and get your pages set up!

↪ Death Certificates: This will help you keep track of your character's deaths in-game as well as any symptoms they might be experiencing. Most new characters won't have to worry about this but heck, what do we know? Maybe you'll want to get to dying sooner than most!

hello (again) deerington!! it's kerry returning for the (let's not count) time bc i can't seem to quit you.

this time i'm bringing with me one hardass witch by the name of hecate hardbroom ( from the worst witch ). hecate is a fierce proponent of strong witchcraft, with very fixed and traditional views of what that looks like, though every so often something else slips through there. she's a very talented witch and is going to be very disturbed when her magic doesn't work properly ( the last time magic broke was yikes ).

for all her fierce and judgement she's softhearted underneath, though good luck getting her to show it. she's also very not used to being in a non-magical world or even having magic known as publicly, so it's going to take her quite an effort to adjust to things here. whilst her magic goes wrong to mess all of that up.

i'm excited to throw her into wild shenanigans, magic-related or event! and it's good to be back, you wild tempters ♥

Yooo welcome!! I was super excited to see Hecate app because although I've only seen the first couple episodes of the tv show, it was super cute and I have very fond memories of the 80s movie.

I play Clarisse here and also Brianna fayzedandconfused. Clarisse is a daughter of Ares, the Greek war god, so the name Hecate will definitely ping her initially.

Hi guys! Caprica here (I also play Clementine from The Walking Dead and Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura - dropping Yuu for this super-dork.) and I have (yes. Another) Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man for you all.



This is Miles Morales, a seventeen year old kid from Brooklyn who (yup) gets bitten by a spider and develops powers. Basically his power set is similar to Pete's with the usual web slinging, strength and such, but Miles also gets venom (like an electric shock he can use to boost his punches or help get generators or such going again.) and camoflauge/invisibility. The camo and venom he won't have such control over here with warps initially so yay fun times of randomly going invisible or unintentionally shocking himself/others

This particular Miles is coming in from the PS4/5 game/s from Marvel's Spider-Man so. Spoiler warning there in regards to his more recent game if anyone wants me to avoid that. For those that are familiar (lbr I chose the game because it - and Spider-Verse, my other consideration, are more contained because. Comics.....) he's from the end of his more recent game after a little time going solo protecting the city while Pete was away overseas, basically. He's had some training and gotten a little experience under his belt now at least.

He'll miss his mother and bff Ganke like crazy but he'll do what he can to help out here where he can! Even if that includes helping find lost kitties. Planning on him trying to figure setting up the FNSM app here somehow but need to consider something job wise unless he goes to school here to finish off that last year? But yeah, nervous but excited to try him here because I've adored the character since Spider-Verse came out and am now finally gonna get to try him in a game.

Not really, but his general vibe is that of a screaming bird at times. Hello everyone this is Basil, player of Oscar Pine, bringing in Reyson from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Long story short is that he's the last surviving prince of a decimated kingdom to his knowledge...and, while he fancies himself as having a warrior-like temperament, he's far from being useful as a combatant.

Basically, he's a Bard. And a Heron, with a temper that's typical of a water fowl.

Hi!! Hello!! Greetings!! I'm Zoe, I'm new! You can find me at whomps ! I'm bringing in yet another RWBY character & I feel almost like I should apologize for bringing in this one in particular.



This is General James Ironwood & we do not stan. In the world of RWBY he's the leader of the Kingdom of Atlas's military and is the headmaster of Atlas Academy & the important thing there is he has way too much power and should not be given any power. He goes a bit. uh. sideways. ethically and morally and governmentally. He might not come across that way ICly, so this is mostly a head's up OOCly.

Anyway he thinks he makes the "hard choices" for the Greater Good the Greater Good, but, uh, you probably know how that kinda thing usually goes. His pullpoint for the canon familiar is volume 7, post-election, pre-Jacques' party; for the canon unfamiliar & with some vague spoilers the gist is: he's not quite as bad at the moment as he could be. (hasn't completed that face>heel turn if you get me)

I used to be here about a year ago, but now I'm back and with one Harvey Dent from the DC Comics (specifically, Prime Earth/New 52/Rebirth)! In case you haven't heard of Harvey Dent, he's more (in)famous for being Two-Face, one of Batman's biggest rogues! Luckily, this Harvey hasn't had acid thrown across his face just yet, so he's still on the good side. Mostly. He has some issues still look everything is fine.

There's also that one quote, something like you either die a hero or yadda yadda yadda.

But hey he's a really good prosecutor and kind of has an inkling that Bruce Wayne is Batman, wow I know big spoiler there. Other things regarding this Harvey, he's friends with Bruce Wayne and currently in a truce/triad with Commissioner Gordon and Batman to get rid of crime in Gotham. That's going to go 100% well, believe me.

Hi, hello, I am Suz and I bring to you Claudia the vampire from the novel (and movie) Interview With The Vampire, by Anne Rice. (I do not own this character. :p)

For the uninitiated, Claudia is a 65-ish old vampire, but she was turned when she was five years old in 1795. So have fun getting your blood drunk by a petite, three-and-a-half foot tall vampire! She’s highly intelligent, but extremely low on empathy, and has....very dubious morals and a lot of anger.

She’ll definitely be looking for an adult to pose as a “caregiver,” until she realizes that people actually do not care she’s on her own! So if any of you want to volunteer your character for “adopting” her, hit me up! If you’d like to volunteer your character as a blood-donor, please let me know, Claudia doesn’t have to kill her meals. She just likes to.

Hello! I'm Brandi and I'm brand new here. I'll be playing Clara Oswald from Doctor Who. Clara is an English teacher from London turned professional space & time traveller. She'll be coming in from near the end of her run on the series, but is also CRAU from her time in Sav. I double checked the taken list and her crau shouldn't impact anyone in game beyond her space son Eddie, who is stuck with her whether he thinks it's cool or not.

I heard a Clara was previously in game, and definitely don't mind other characters recognizing her because of it. She'll feel bad she doesn't remember them, but is used to dealing with things like pocket universes and alternate realities.

this is Joyce Byers from Stranger Things! she’s a mom from a sci-fi/monster horror/conspiracy thriller/coming of age series who is both the best mom ever (sry Steve Harrington) and also high-key ready to Commit Actual Crimes if it means she gets her goals. sometimes her goals are saving her son. sometimes it’s investigating what’s up with her town. she is the sort of person who is exceedingly loyal to Her People to the point where she will walk into a monster-infested world on the slim hope of getting her baby boy out, but also bc of recent events she doesn’t completely trust authority figures she doesn’t personally know (although she’s currently willing to work with them). she’s a very Can-Do kind of person bc of her status as a single working mom, but also very kind and gentle, especially towards kids.

hello everyone! i'm bringing isabelle lightwood into game from shadowhunters! a human/nephilim born, bred, and trained hunter/protector. i go by hana, and i am entirely new to the deerington world, and it's also my first time joining in to a game (partially) on my own! i'm really hoping to delve into izzy's character and tear through all of those tender little nuances she otherwise keeps shut away back home. i've never delved into a horror game nor really thought i'd have an interest to, but coming back after a much needed break i was suggested to take another look at deer, and found myself drawn to it. i'm looking forward to really digging into this game and building up some longterm cr for isabelle that'll renew my vigor for rp again.

i'm still figuring out exactly how to get started, integrated, what have you, but i'd appreciate any helpful tips for us newcomers that might help me adjust a bit better, and am one hundo percent up for getting some cr started. things you've learned over time, wish you would've known upon joining, etc! guide me (pls.) maybe our characters are neighbors (she's in brahms, david cliff apartments on the fourth floor!) or they run into one another—she's definitely not going to be one to sit around in attempts to figure out how, and why she's here.

It's been a while since he was as wildly famous as he was in the 1940s or even 2011-2015, but hey, he's still used to people knowing him dead on sight.

Hey friends, this is Ax (Playing Rei Hino and Jubilee) and I snuck in a last minute app for a 3rd character.

This is Edelgard von Hresvelg from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Edelgard is the Emperor of the Adrestian Empire, one of the 3 Lords that the protagonist can side with, and head of the Black Eagles House. She's an ambitious revolutionary who's life goal is to overthrow a corrupt Church and dismantle the system of hereditary nobility to establish a meritocratic government. So...she's a very intense, politically minded person. To the public she presents a reserved front, and in private she's quite soft and sweet once she's had the chance to get to know people.

For the canon familiar, she's coming from the end of the Crimson Flower storypath.

Additionally she has a number of pretty brutal CWs, including human experimentation so, if you'd like to opt out of interacting with Edelgard or view her permissions check them out here. Also, if you want to avoid spoilers for 3 Houses, there is the place to tell me!.

hello everyone! this is zero, blake belladonna's player, here with a second character!

here's byleth from fire emblem: three houses. she's an ex-mercenary and child soldier turned combat instructor, and from there, a top general in a revolutionary war to upend the political structure of an entire continent. her affect tends to be fairly muted, but get to know her, or get her on a topic she's excited about and she blossoms. she's the kind of person who tends to be overly practically minded, to the point of getting caught up in whatever task she has at hand and seeming like an oddball with her head in the clouds.

leave her to her own devices and she's basically an animal crossing villager, though, and very much a people pleaser. misplace something around town? need some help with your garden? she's your girl, she's got it covered. and the fish in the pond looking weird won't stop her from catching and cooking tons of them.

she comes from the end of the crimson flower route, and thus certain things about her current state make her something of a walking spoiler, at least for some general things. fire emblem being fire emblem, her cws are slightly rough, and her permissions page is over here. if either thing is an issue for you, there's the place to let me know!

Charlotte Blaine is an OC I've had around for a dog's age. I used to play her on SWS but have mostly done private RP with her. She's telekinetic. This means she can move stuff around with her mind. She mostly uses it to throw out trash without getting up and tossing the cats off the table. It also means she might pull hair or shove someone away. In an emergency she can do much more.

She can cast a few spells, mostly protective things like barriers. She also uses a kind of elemental magic that can look awful pretty. I will ALWAYS ask if something she wants to do will affect your pup.

Her job back in the world is antiques appraiser. She'll be teaching Ancient History and Art at the CC.

She's showed up with her kitten. The kitten, just like her brother, teleports short distances.

Oh, and she's married to another new arrival. He brought the other kitten....

Hello! I am HBomb and I bring you a very broken original character by the name of John Everton. John works for the US Government and his job is to hunt down and bring in anyone with "powers". But John has a problem, in that he has powers himself. So he's super conflicted. He's also super Catholic.

John has lived in my head for 12 years now even though he went to sleep for like 11 of them. His face is provided by the ever-lovely Callum Keith Rennie, so if any BSG, Due South, or The Firm (TV) characters show up, it's gonna be a lot of fun. Oh, also any Impulse character will wonder why he looks younger now, so YAY more fun. Shit, also Legends of Tomorrow and Supernatural (Season 1) people would recognize him too. Oh, this is gonna be fun. Anyway, feel free to recognize and misname him. He's fun to confuse.

As for me, I haven't been in a formal game since Amat, so I'm SO RUSTY at big gameplay. But I am coming in with my RP partner (and John's wife), so be nice to both of us. Oh, welcome! I'm Caprica and two of my three have some sort of abilities/powers actually.

One being this guy obviously, Miles Morales, from Spider-Man: Miles Morales, with the video game on Spidey and this more recent entry which focuses on Miles stepping into the role. The other of mine with abilities is one of the resident magical girls, Sakura Kinomoto from CLAMP's Cardcaptor Sakura manga. The third doesn't have powers but she's Clementine from Telltale's The Walking Dead game. Basically if there's a power of surviving walkers and desperate asshole survivors for eight years I guess she has that though.

But I am biased in getting excited for the pb because I Adore BSG. I just never really used my Kara Thrace journal since Asgard forever ago haha.
