Player Plot Requests

PLAYER PLOT REQUESTS

To make a request for a player plot, no matter how big or small, this is the place to do it. Most player plots will automatically be accepted. Some might invoke mod inquiry. This page allows all players within the community to keep track of what player plots are being requested. Be sure to communicate effectively with everyone involved, and for player plots concerning larger parties or having open involvement to the community, be sure to post OOC planning posts if necessary.

Please fill out the following form as thoroughly as possible and comment below. You should hear back within 24 hours on your approval status.

Your characters can discover new monsters at any point. Please make sure to make a monster request on the monster request page prior to commenting here if you plan on doing this. This is to ensure that monster replicas are not brought into the game whether through players offering the same creature, or a creature being brought in that I was already planning on.

Monster discoveries made through these requests can happen during any time, regardless of whether or not it is a Horrorshow. Please do not bring in any major monsters as there will probably already be plans made for them in game. Thank you!

Player plots do not need to be horror oriented. They can be just about anything at all. Have fun.

This is a draft. I plan to polish this up a bit more. Notes on the draft:
*In the player plot info post I will solicit anyone who wants to work the event, which might then change a little bit of set-up/operations if Gabriel has more than one character on staff.
*Rei’s player may want to expand on the photography rooms a little
*I’m happy to change/add/remove any of the Side Room paintings. Since most of Gabriel’s stock (everything not by player characters) is provided by Deerington I wanted to provide some game-appropriate ideas and some prompts in relation to some of the sample art pieces. These are my draft ideas, if mods have different ideas or want some of the prompts changed or removed, I’m very happy to edit things.

Main Room
Featured Artist: Gabriel Caron
The main front room of the gallery is mostly empty, which is fortunate tonight, since it holds most of the setup for the cocktail party reception of the gallery opening. There's a table along one side with some light appetizers and bottles of champagne and sparkling cider. Gabriel and the one or two people he has helping him tonight may breeze by the table occasionally to refresh it and to open and pour a couple more bottles of champagne.
Two paintings dominate the room. The large, dark paintings are set up as the features of the room, both of them tasteful male nudes:

Endymion (cw: male nudity), A classical portrait of Endymion, though there is no moon. The light comes from the young man himself, and he lounges with a careless grace, sleepy and trusting, though the shadows around him are deep. The darkness itself radiates lust, and there is a sort of certainty it inspires in the viewer that something is watching the youth, something hungry for him. The cleverer viewers may realize that there is nothing actually in the shadows, and that it was they who have been cast in the role of watcher. The execution of the painting is still a little bit rough, unrefined, but it hints at a raw passion that might be polished into something exceptional.

Narcissus (cw: male nudity)
Narcissus, Self-portrait of the artist. A twilit pool surrounded by white and red Narcissus blossoms. The young man in the painting plunges his hand deep into the pool, past the elbow, so that he seems on the verge of losing his balance and plunging into the water. The expression on his face is of rapt, obsessive fascination, but there is something awful about the expression, bordering on horror. The submerged arm is invisible to the viewer, and the one word that best seems to describe the youth in the painting is consumed—both with fascination at himself and literally by the pool.

Rear Rooms
Featured Artist: Rei Kurosawa
The two rear rooms of the gallery are set up as parallels of each other.
In the first room the photographs are colored scenes of scenery around the town; some of Koji pond and mountain scenery, and one particularly striking shot of a deer in the forest, head lifted to look toward the camera.
The second room shows the town in decay and covered in snow, as if the town itself had been left to rot. The place of pride in that room is held by a striking photo of a black deer at rest, snow around it and encircled by the maze.

Side Rooms
Various Artists
In the two side rooms of the gallery, there are a variety of paintings and a few small sculptures that Gabriel aqcuired through Deerington’s sources. This is the art that Deerington itself has provided, so it is as unsettling and untrustworthy as the town itself. Three paintings of particular interest:

Monk on the seashore

The painting seems to be a simple image of a monk standing upon a seashore. But when you glance again, the monk is gone, as though it had never been there, and surely it was always just a seashore. It was only a trick of your mind that made you think otherwise. And yet moments later you see the monk again, standing in the back hall of the gallery, the one that leads to the private back rooms and the bathrooms. He’s standing at an angle so that he is out of sight to anyone but you. If you draw someone else’s attention toward him, he will retreat. Minutes later you may catch sight of him again, out the window, across the road and again only visible at an angle from where you’re standing. If you bring someone else to look, he will be gone. He will stalk you for up to two days, always careful to remain unseen by any of your companions. If you make this connection and take care to remain with a companion at all times over the next two days, you’ll be safe. If you seek him out alone, he will shift into his true form and attack:

In the monk’s true form, he is twice the size of a horse and will attempt to devour characters whole—or in parts, as necessary. It can be killed by normal weapons, and will flee if seen by anyone other than its prey. If killed or if it gives up on prey that has evaded it for two days by staying in the company of others, the monk will respawn in the painting in the Gallery and begin seeking new prey.

Ritual

As you study the painting, finding it unusually compelling, someone near you keeps whispering something. It’s not distracting in any way—it’s soothing, in fact. Reassuring. But as you continue to study the painting and if you look around, you will realize that there is no one near you whispering. It is the painting itself speaking to you, murmuring to you. It has chosen you, and there is a ritual that must be performed, though you cannot do it alone. You must bring someone to the edge of Lake Tomie and pour their blood into the water. Look around, surely there’s someone here who could be persuaded to join you for a lakeside stroll at this hour. You’ll just need to be sure to bring a knife.

Gossip

The painting seems charming at first, but then you realize that you recognize the figures in the scene. They are your friends and allies, particularly the people you know here in town, and they are whispering about you. The figures in the painting begin to glance toward you and point, and then resume whispering together. They’re talking about you. Conspiring against you. Your friends and allies, perhaps even the ones here with you in this room, have all been conspiring together against you. How thoughtful and prescient of the painting to warn you.

Character(s) involved: Leo Flynn [personal profile] stealyoursoul
Closed/Open Plot: Open plot, characters can tag in and make top-levels as they want.
Monsters Being Brought In: N/A
Content Warnings for Plot: Psychological manipulation, gory physical mutilation, overindulgence of drugs, alcohol, and sex, depression, suicidal tendencies, urges to kill, and possible character death.

Details of Plot: Leo just got a job as a part-time DJ at Glass. Yay! He invites the town to come out on a weekend night to celebrate. And that's when things go wrong...very, very wrong. The songs played all come from different eras and each era provides a different effect on the listeners, some psychological, and some physical. Each effect can be dissipated once characters figure out how to do it.

Song effects:
70s: Ethereal. The characters hallucinate either someone they love or someone they hate is there. Can mistake other characters for these people. Effects fade if convinced they're hallucinating.
80s: Indulgence. The characters feel compelled to indulge in their vices: drugs, drink, and sex. Note on the sex effect: this just lowers character inhibitions, they still must decide to consent, this is not an excuse to be murkily tricked into sex. Effects can be dispelled by refusing to indulge for 1/2 hour.
90s: Grunge. Characters feel an overwhelming sense of depression. Everything is awful, what is the point anymore? Can get suicidal if indulged for too long. Effects dispelled by being extremely honest about their emotional states with other characters, telling exactly how they feel, without hiding anything under the surface.
00s: Euphoria. Opposite of the 90s. Everything is awesome, everything is great! Characters will feel estatic this entire time, wanting to dance, indulge, and be happy, but as soon the music changes to another era, everything they've already experienced all comes crashing back down on them.
10s: Sins. This one comes courtesy of your DJ being a Sunai monster, his powers with a twist. The entire club population will either glow white or red depending on their state of sinner or innocent. This will give people the urge to kill the sinners and purify the club of their presence. Sinners are toxic and bad, right? You'll be doing a great favor to everyone. This can be dispelled by people being forced to tell their worst sins to whichever characters are present, which will cause the glow to fade, and the murderous intent to pass.

There is another way to dispel the effects of the songs. Characters who decide to dance will be immune to any of the songs' effects. However, once they start to dance, they can't stop, much as in the fairy tale The Red Shoes. There are only three ways to snap out of the dancing trance: a character will drop dead of exhaustion, a player character must physically drag them off the dance floor (no small task, character will likely fight them on this even if they want to stop), or as in the fairy tale, they must physically mutilate themselves with some handy sharp instruments provided on the edges of the dance floor. It has to be a body part, which can be as small as a finger, toe, ear, eye, or range all the way up to taking off both hands and feet.

The event will last a full twenty-four "day" in Glass, though as always, it will only appear the typical thirty minutes will have passed outside. Characters can leave if they try hard enough, they just don't really feel like they want to, no matter how bad things are getting inside.

Details of Plot: This is a bit more a question about possibilities than a strict plot idea!
During the Cycle of Life event I'm planning to age Sarissa down to when she was fourteen or so and full of a lot of rage, which will be elevated by being here.

Would it be okay for her to "lash out" in the form of attempting to burn down a building related to law enforcement or law offices of some kind? Maybe just minor damage or maybe bigger damage, I'm totally flexible with what would be appropriate (or useful). I'm totally down with her getting caught and there being repercussions, although ideally without having her suffer HORRIBLY FOREVER for the rage of her younger self. She'll be kind of dragging other kids along with her, potentially, but she'd own up to being responsible for it.

Content Warnings for Plot: nightmares. further cw's dependent on the individual content

Details of Plot: After arriving, Lilith engaged in a little dreamwalking with Max Briest. When trying to affect the content of Max's dream they noticed the effects of Deerington's dreamscape (the static sound, feeling of being watched, shadowy presences) before Lilith woke them from the dream. With the effect on her magic, Lilith would keep looking into this, lucid dreaming to try and find out who that shadowy presence is etc etc.

Ultimately, it would culminate in Lilith trying to cast a spell, perhaps to try and draw out the figure/what she's experienced within the dreams. I'm thinking that perhaps the spell has unintended consequences with characters experiencing a shared dream/nightmares, with things from their nightmares manifesting as a "ghostly" idea that can be seen by others.

Lilith would be able to reverse the spell and all of the nightmares would disappear, though even whilst it was happening she'd keep trying to investigate/find the shadowy figures/whoever is watching, allowing the plot to potentially last for a few days?

I'm also open to mod input/adjustments if this is an idea you're interested in!

Player(s) leading plot: Saru

Player(s) Contact(s): [plurk.com profile] spinmeatale or PM

Character(s) involved: Jesse McCree ([personal profile] almightythirst) and whoever would like to tag in.

Closed/Open Plot: This plot would be open for players to interact with as they'd like, similar to how the monthly events function (but less all-encompassing).

Monsters Being Brought In: No monsters, but ghosts/spirits would be involved. If I need to fill out a separate form for them still, I will do so.

Content Warnings for Plot: Frequent mention of/descriptions of spirits/dead people; possible body horror and descriptions of decomposition.

Details of Plot: Since I’m going on hiatus next month, I initially was going to have Jesse floating above his bed in the standard hiatus way. But since this is an extra-long break, I was thinking it might be fun to do something different.

Jesse will die at the end of May; and with mod permission, I won’t have him resurrect until I return from hiatus in July (in lieu of the other hiatus options). In the meantime, things would go as they usually would, with the image of his death on repeat and the deer statue. But no Jesse after six days.

Instead, something else would start to roam the streets after dark: a Pale Rider on horseback, similar-looking to Jesse but with his face covered and shadowed. He’d be at his most visible at midnight (HIGH MOON lol), though he would never speak or otherwise directly interact with anyone. He’ll wander close to homes, but never enter them. It’s only those who are out and about after dark that would risk having a run-in. The sound of hooves hitting pavement, the smell of cigar smoke, and an extreme temperature change for the colder would be signs the rider is close. Players who have killed someone in-game will get a sense of antagonism from the spirit; those who have died will feel a sense of being watched over or protected.

For certain people, the vision of the rider will also be accompanied by others on horseback. From a distance, they lack any visible facial details or unique features of any kind. Up close though, what people would see depends on their situation and the player’s own discretion.

The Peaceful Dead: These riders, upon closer inspection, take on the features of someone that character has lost in the past. They won’t speak, though they are approachable. They will only appear and stay manifested under the watchful eye of the Pale Rider, and will disappear after having met the character or otherwise interacted with them. They tend to look wistful or even a little sad, but mostly at peace. Many of them would just seem happy to have seen the character again. They will look like they did in life, healthy, happy, and unharmed.

The Vengeful Dead: These spirits are a completely different lot than the Peaceful Dead, and for good reason: they’re people that character has killed. Only people who were killed with intent and/or under unfair or unjust circumstances manifest in this way. There can be simply one, or a veritable army of riders, and they will all look as they did when they died. These spirits will chase down the character unrelentingly until the sun rises and cannot be struck down by conventional weapons. Their steeds can’t enter a home, but the spirits themselves can through any unlocked door or window. And despite not being affected by weapons, they sure can use their own. They seemingly won’t be pacified by anything less than the character’s own death. Other ways to fight/defeat these would be added if this event is something that will go forward.

The Restless Dead: The Vengeful Dead are motivated by their own anger and pain. The Restless Dead are a little different in that their power is fed mostly by the character’s own feelings of sadness, anger, and guilt. The Restless Dead are also spirits of the departed known to the player character, and are people whose deaths the character somehow feels personally responsible for (versus the Vengeful where the character’s feelings matter less than the deed done). Maybe the character pulled the trigger because they had to; or they didn’t step in to take a bullet when they could’ve. Maybe they just weren’t there at the right time to save this person’s life. Whatever the case, the spirit’s death is something the character feels responsible for somehow. And the stronger that sense of responsibility, the stronger the spirit.

Restless Dead could also be violent, but are more prone to being a nuisance. Their damage is more psychological. Once they make contact with the character, they essentially haunt them until dispersed: for example, things getting knocked around in the character’s vicinity, appearing around the house in unexpected places, sounds of whispered voices and crying, etc. Ghost things.

They can be gotten rid of if the character can somehow come to terms with their guilt and acknowledge the specter directly.

All signs of the Pale Rider and the other spirits would disappear in mid-July when Jesse resurrects, or whenever the mods would prefer. Several players can see the same spirit and can help each other in fighting or banishing each other’s ghosts.

I wrote y’all a novel, sorry ;) No pressure of course to approve this! I know it’s kind of a lot. If it doesn’t go forward though, I’d like to still see if Jesse can remain dead that long and come back when I do.

Character(s) involved: Sarissa Theron [personal profile] magnitudes
Closed/Open Plot: Parts of it will be closed as they only impact Sarissa or potentially her close CR, however as it continues I would really like to do an element that is an open plot (though obvs that’d require a separate plot approval thing)
Monsters Being Brought In: n/a
Content Warnings for Plot: Dealing with amputation/self mutilation, body horror

Details of Plot:
My hope is to eventually canon update Sarissa to a point where she has lost part of her left forearm (which she had to amputate herself in order to escape being killed). The result of that would be after she has returned to deerington and is dealing with the repercussions (not to mention the trauma) I’d like to use AC bonus points to buy a prosthetic for her. The prosthetic itself is why I need to submit a plot request.

My thoughts are that as more upgrades/abilities/dangers are unlocked on the prosthetic that I would need to keep purchasing that with points, rather than assuming I’d be able to unlock it all at once.

So basically: she starts off with a robotic prosthetic, except that it does this weird thing where it makes little metal ridges appear along her spine, presumably to help with motor control. No need to panic, it’s just some weird science, right? However, as usage progresses I was thinking that while the arm comes with bonuses (such as granting her some abilities that help with combatting monsters/dangers encountered in Deerington) it also has significant costs.

Eventually my hope was that this arm would be a parasitic entity that might be sort of sentient, and while it is useful it is ultimately untrustworthy. Sarissa would need to push back against it and the effects it has on her body (perhaps impacts on her physicality or on her mind) and limit her use of to make sure that it doesn’t assert control over her.

My thoughts on the development of the arm include these elements, but I’m super open to adapting/changing stuff up:
— Starting out: a basic (for all that a robotic prosthetic could ever be “basic”) prosthetic with random kitchen blowtorch (not a regular blowtorch, strictly a creme-brulee level blowtorch) and bubble blowing features
— Going on its main attack element is in melee collects souls/energy/vitality. Basically she hurts things with it (perhaps it had a wild blade or scythe mode?) and then there’s a chance it’ll drain some vitality/harvest some soul/idk whatever. Once it’s collected enough it can do like an energy bolt attack. Initially this is very weak, but as she has fought using the arm more then it becomes more powerful.
— The parasitic element where the more she uses the attacks that it gets from leeching vitality from her foes the arm/physical changes start to spread, like the exoskeleton along her back starting to spread, weird chainmail mesh starting to appear on her skin?

I was thinking that this item could very much one of the “dream add on” sort of bonus items. (Another idea was that eventually I might get her goggles that help her see into the Unmasked side of Deerington, and when wearing those goggles the “robotic” arm will look ALARMING AS ALL HELL but that’s a kind of whimsical idea and idk if it would make sense with game mechanics and stuff.)
I’m so sorry this is a bit tldr and vague simultaneously, but I thought it’d be good to start discussing elements with you to determine what would/would not be viable before I got too invested in any one avenue and plotted it intensely. Also if maybe I could get a rough idea on how many AC bonus points at least initially getting the arm would take that’d be super useful so I have a goal to work towards.

Character(s) involved: Moira O'Deorain [personal profile] gaylic
Closed/Open Plot: Open!

Content Warnings for Plot: Genetic manipulation, physical alterations (light as scarring or as extreme as mild body horror), human experimentation via injections, needles

Details of Plot: Moira is a geneticist who specializes in rewriting the DNA of various organic forms. Her work has also been shown to work on omnics, so it could theoretically extend to robots from other canons as well. She has been shown to cure hereditary disease and ease mental illness as well as create super soldiers and give people super power.

Moira has continued her research here to the best of her abilities and since getting her machines from home, has recreated some of the serums she made back in the Overwatch world. She would begin to use this as an attempt to cure in-game diseases (not always successfully, it would be cleared with mods ahead of time), ease people's mental afflictions from various plots (like the insanity back in January or extreme PTSD), and also offer a means to give people more power to fight back against monsters and shit in Deerington. Most of these serums come with side effects, but they vary from person to person, and so people could create their own fall outs - whether it's scarring of various parts of their skin, altering the appearance of a part of their body, or issues with the powers themselves functioning in an expected fashion. The skies the limit or whatever cheesy phrase you wanna throw in here.

This would be 100% opt-in, characters would be informed ICly of possible side effects (though she'd downplay the shit out of it), and no one would be experimented on against their will (unless there is a plot that encourages it and then it would be cleared entirely OOCly).

UHH I THINK THAT'S IT.

Monsters Being Brought In: NA
Content Warnings for Plot: NA

Details of Plot: I'm interested in having Wrench teaching American Sign Language -- informally at first, but possibly leading to its induction into the curriculum of the local community college.

That in itself might not require a player plot, but there's a couple of things I'm considering here. Since manual languages don't obey the sort of "hivemind" that allows Sleepers to understand one another regardless of what language they're speaking in, it really would be like learning a new skill for anyone who chooses to take up the classes. That would mean a particularly arduous process that I'm not at all interested in simulating, but would like to create some kind of metric for since characters could conceivably be walking away bilingual/multilingual.

Essentially, I'm just thinking about creating a timeline or a graph in my journal that would say that if a character has studied for X amount of time, they can assume Y comprehension. An in-game month could reasonably get you this amount of skill, etc. Of course no one would actually have to play that out or anything like that, but I think it could be a decent enough guide.

Character(s) involved: Sarissa [personal profile] magnitudes & close/significant cr - I haven’t yet had a chance to discuss this with/heard back from all of the players.
Closed/Open Plot: closed-ish.
Monsters Being Brought In: n/a
Content Warnings for Plot: possession/body horror, violence and gore, possibly cannibalism (with reference to disordered eating)

Details of Plot:
A few months ago Sarissa acquired a super-powered prosthesis via AC rewards, which put an exoskeleton up her spine and had some intriguing abilities. It has since become more powerful and evolved in response to her in-game death and fears, including the armour expanding up her arm, and developing an anti-magic flash cannon.

I’m hoping to run a plot leading up to dropping Sarissa from the game, and having it run through October and maybe her dropping in early November. This plot basically boils down to “spike in fear/threats from CRAU update” plus “creepy monster-arm that feeds off fear” and whatever in-game events happen in October to spark her the parasitic arm thing spirally out of control and turning Sarissa into a terrible terrible monster, with a fun boss-battle type thing for some of her close CR (featuring maybe some memory stuff, but key things being her storm physiology from CRAU, anti-magic flash cannon and also big scythe arm.)

The monster Sarissa will be turning into will involve some body horror, in the form of her body transforming as a result of the parasite rapidly spreading. Because of Sarissa’s issue with disordered eating when in escalated states, I had considered it might be an interesting avenue to explore the need to consume as being part of the way the parasite changes her, possibly with her consuming NPC/player characters as part of the final transformation that occurs and what makes it really apparent that she is beyond saving with what’s happening to her (although I’ll say that no children will die through this because that’s a shade too horrifying for Sarissa - I might ruin her life and turn her into a flesh eating monster, but boundaries, man.)
How rapidly this escalates/occurs will depend on communication with CR etc, but I’m very open to suggestions/limits from the mod team, and purchasing stuff via AC points if necessary.

Details of Plot: Following up Mami’s transformation into her witch form, Candeloro, her Labyrinth will be appearing at the edge of town. Closed/Open Plot: closed I guess BUT potentially interesting stuff for open RP related toit
Monsters Being Brought In: N/A
Content Warnings for Plot: I suppose this is a thing to discuss

Details of Plot:
As I rambled about in her canon update, Kady has been through a lot of changes and is all about being proactive and wanting to define the role she plays in the story, and in her own life. She's done with being a tool for other people's quests.

She also has had a chat with Alice about the Mayor, the curiosity about how to learn more about him/break into his residence, etc.

I'm curious for what could happen if Kady were to essentially ally herself with the Mayor (in a double agent sort of way, but essentially burning down her cr with her castmates for the sake of the guise) and be a lackey for him and try to win his trust/prove her worth to learn about his plans/wants/etc.

Is that something that's possible? What would you need from me? Since it involves an NPC etc I figured it was best to reach out and see what was possible, but this seemed way too big and specific to pop on the FAQ, so :V

Content Warnings for Plot: N/A

Details of Plot: Simply put? A large cooperative spell goes awry due to the circumstances in Deerington not being the same ones the Magicians are used to. The result is similar to the musical episodes in the series--characters throughout Deerington who wish to opt-in spontaneously burst into song.

Songs can be literally anything or triggered by anything--it doesn't matter if they can sing or not, they'll automatically know the words. Dancing optional. You want your character to bust out a soulful tune because their feelings are hurt, or suddenly confess with a flowery ballad? Now's the time. Want your big macho man to start big band crooning? Looks like he can't help himself.

We're looking to time it so it takes place for about a week/it'll wear off of everyone within a week. Hopefully around March if that works for the mods! Otherwise we're all game with whatever works. :)

Details of Plot: So it's less a plot and more checking if this is OK to do as a post (which could lead to further plots). Mysterio was recently told that there are comic books about other versions of him at the comic book shop. I love a good 4th wall so I would love for him to read some of these and this would spiral him into a mental crisis and he may rant over the network about it. This could also involve the Spider-Mans and other Marvel characters (who I could check with, if necessary).

So just want to see if it's OK to have Mysterio complain and rant and talk about the fact he's a comic book character in other dimensions. (This could have also been asked in the FAQ, I guess, but since it'd be an upcoming specific post if approved, I thought this may be a better place.)

Details of Plot:

In an effort to try to understand the Fluid devices and perhaps learn something about her captors, Seven will try to access (if possible) her Fluid device using her Borg augmentations. This will involve injecting a small amount of modified nanoprobes into the Fluid. These nanoprobes will do something something tachyons something (insert Treknobabble here) as they attempt (and fail) to assimilate the device, and their presence will briefly disrupt the Fluid network.

Side effects: Characters whose Fluids are affected by the nanoprobes' attack on the network (this can be totally optional) will see their device screen flicker and briefly blink green, then it will return to normal. But the rogue tachyons in the network will mean that for approximately three days (or until the nanoprobes are ejected), messages sent via text or social media will have a 50/50 chance of being sent to the wrong person entirely. This will not impact the actual Network at all.

Content Warnings for Plot: various event warning will apply, details of traumatic horror events

Details of Plot: Overnight, during the middle of April 2020, a new app appears on every active Fluid device. It is an idle game called GROW, a virtual garden/terrarium in which to raise digital plants. It is designed as a fun, calming little time waster app with simple graphics and bright, cheerful colors... but there is more beneath the surface.

Clicking on the tiny icon of a raised middle finger leads the user to an encrypted website: here. This site hosts a database of Sleeper-generated information on the town and first-hand accounts of personal experiences.

Tech Boy has created an uncrackable encryption for this site, allowing Sleepers to share their knowledge without fear of being discovered by The Mayor, Mother Superior, et al. ...or even Sodder herself. Instead of needing to pass all dangerous information in-person, this is an opportunity to safely communicate over greater distances (and maybe coordinate new CR due to shared interests or experiences).

This is a place for characters to share their IC knowledge of the town of Deerington with other characters securely over the Network. It is a resource that can be pointed to ICly: to document monthly event happenings in one's own words (in as much or as little details as they're comfortable with), to track monster sightings around town, to organize research results or traumatic event experiences (eg. death effects, characters disappearing/going home), to educate new arrivals with a brief overview, etc.

Character(s) involved: Jonathan Sims [personal profile] itknowsyou
Closed/Open Plot: Open to all!
Monsters Being Brought In: I don’t see a "Monster Approvals" page; am I missing it somewhere?
Content Warnings for Plot: Spiders, mental manipulation and compulsion, claustrophobia, violence.

Details of Plot:
Time for cursed books!

In Jon’s world, there are books generally known as "Leitners." A Leitner may be a duplicate of an existing piece of literature, though with some passages eerily altered, or it may be a completely new work. Each contains a bookplate on the inner cover that reads "From The Library of Jurgen Leitner."

Also in Jon’s world are fourteen Entities: eldritch fear-gods, each with its own domain (such as filth and disease, fire and agony, madness and reality-distortion...). The Entities bleed into our reality in various ways, and one of these is in the form of the Leitners. Each Leitner contains the essence of an Entity. Reading a Leitner causes unnatural effects in the reader; these effects have been warped to make for more fun and accessible plot hooks. Purely canon effects can be seen on the wiki here.

The books compel their readers to keep reading; without interruption or intense willpower, a reader will always finish the book. All books are waterproof and oddly durable, but can be destroyed via burning, ripping, or some other violent end. In canon, these methods have varying results... but to add extra spice, I have introduced "destruction effects" for each book, which will occur no matter the manner of violent destruction.

Here’s the list of canon Leitners to be introduced in this player plot:
  • A Disappearance, author not listed. A slim black volume. Reading a few words causes temporary invisibility lasting 1-20 minutes (not consistent); reading the entire text will render the reader totally unnoticeable (though still able to leave written messages) until the book is destroyed. Destruction effects: everyone in a 50-foot radius at the time of destruction is affected by the poltergeist effect for 24-72 hours.

  • A Guest for Mr. Spider, author not listed. A children’s picturebook with unsettling artwork. Reading the entire text will compel the reader to knock on the nearest door, upon which a massive spider attempts to drag them inside a pocket dimension and devour them. Destruction effects: everyone within a 50-foot radius of destruction finds themselves connected to someone else present by indestructible threads, similar to the Spinning Wheels effect, for 24-72 hours. Get comfy.

  • A Journal of the Plague Year, by Daniel Defoe. Reading causes the surrounding structure to rot or natural environments to wither. The spread can be stopped only by destroying the book. Destruction effects: the rotting effect is immediately applied to surroundings up to 50ft of the destruction; this may collapse a house or other building. The rot does not seem to spread.

  • Book of the Dead, author not listed. It tells stories of gory deaths, including a seemingly imminent and terrible end for the reader in Deerington. Every time the reader looks, the prophesized death is more imminent and more horrible. Destruction effects: everyone in a 50-foot radius at the time of destruction witnesses a past death, or a possible death, of someone else present.

  • Dig, author not listed. Just the word "dig" repeated on each page. Partial reading conveys the urge to dig into the ground relentlessly, even with bare hands; effect is lifted only when the book is destroyed. Destruction effects: a 50ft-radius sinkhole opens at the site of destruction. This may harm surrounding buildings and characters unlucky enough to fall in.

  • The Seven Lamps of Architecture, by John Ruskin. Reading part of the book gives a sense of the walls pressing in around the reader; reading the entire text will warp nearby architecture to entomb them until the book is destroyed. Destruction effects: if destroyed inside a building, it will immediately collapse.

  • The Stalwart Hunters' Almanac, author not listed. Describes attacks by large and dangerous animals. The reader will spontaneously sustain the injuries they read about. Destruction effects: everyone within a 50ft radius of the destruction is immediately affected by life-threatening lacerations, as if mauled by several large animals in an instant. They will likely need urgent medical assistance.

  • Untitled Small Grey Book, author not listed. Contains the secrets, great and small, of its readers— including the current reader— as described by a neutral narrator. Once opened by a reader, their secrets remain printed; new readers seem to add additional pages. Destruction effects: everyone within a 50ft radius of the destruction has a truth about someone else present placed in their mind.

  • The Collected Poems of Wilfred Owen. Reading one or more poems compels the reader to attack the nearest target; this "berserk" state is concluded only by destroying the book. Destruction effects: everyone within a 50ft radius of the destruction is immediately effected by the "berserk" state for 24-72 hours. They will likely need to be restrained.

  • 蜘蛛が食べている (kumo ga tabete iru), translated as "Spiders Are Eating." Author not listed, and text is all written in Japanese. Reading more than a few pages of the book (even without understanding the language) summons a huge, people-eating spider. Destruction effects: those within a 50ft radius of the destruction are immediately bound in tough, sticky webbing. They may need help getting free.
  • Each book is unique; there are no duplicates. If approved, I will make a player sign-up to discover the books, and each Leitner will spawn into town over the next several weeks. They will appear anywhere books might normally be found: on household shelves, in the library or bookshop, etc.

Please let me know if this concept needs additional warping or nerfing, changes to the spawn-in plan for books, a particular timeframe, etc.! The "50ft radius" element is intended to provide hooks for otherwise-uninvolved characters to get sucked into scenes, but can readily be scaled up or down.

If a reason for the books' appearance is needed (e.g. Jon made a badly-worded request to Sodder), or if there should be a cost in Bonus Points, please let me know and I will happily facilitate. Some books are, after all, feasibly useful as magical tools— though Jon and Martin will do their best to destroy all books immediately.

    Thank you!

Content Warnings for Plot: Murder/death, themes of torture, possible gore as a result of fighting.

Details of Plot: As a result of using so much magic fighting the robots in July (which was doubled because of her title as Ultimate Shield, since she felt an irresistible urge to protect everyone), and the despair of watching so many people she cared about dying during the Trials, Sana's Soul Gem will go completely dark and will turn into a Witch. This will kill her soul, but her body will mutate into a Witch form, obsessed with hurting others. A labyrinth will show up in town, and her familiars will drag people into it, which is where the Witch will torture/kill people. Once the Witch is defeated, the labyrinth and familiars will vanish.

This will take the form of an open log, so anyone could wind up stopping it/killing it.

    Details of Plot:
This one's simple. So, the Layers are being stripped, which means we're getting closer to where Sodder is. That means Sodder's getting weaker and can't spend all her energy fixing stupid characters who keep getting themselves killed, right?

So, Vira-Lorr's head doesn't re-attach for the remainder of her time in the game. Simple as that. No matter what happens. No antidote. No nanite cure. No expenditure of points. Not even those magic cookies she got. Nope. Her head is stuck, off her shoulders for as long as the game continues. She'll try the cookies to fix the problem (four of them), only to find it doesn't do it.

If she gets further horrible, ongoing injuries, those can still be remedied, but this one she's stuck with because Sodder just can't keep expending the time and energy to put her entirely back together if she's just going to keep getting killed.

Also if the marriage ceremony occurs does anything strange or deer-related things happen? I know a deer statue is for the deaths specifically. I'm willing to pay 50 to 100 points that represent their eternal love? The thing is, it's not a death certificate, but a marriage certificate, so I wondering about the effects and consequences.

Monsters Being Brought In: A Ghost.
Content Warnings for Plot: Unsure yet, but probably violence, gore, blood, things of unsavoury nature.

Details of Plot: A proper haunting of Arthur's home. A ghost comes to stay and torments them for a while. Injuries happen, creepy things, etc. Perhaps they eventually get an exorcist in there, things go quiet. But because of the atmospheric changes in Deerington, the ghost actually manages to possess one of them (we're still discussing which one) and sticks around. It's not a friendly spirit to say the least, and some mayhem and trouble will follow. Plans to ask if there are people interested having their characters murdered/almost murdered by ghost/possessed character. (I'm tentatively thinking ghost would act out its own death scene over and over again, but not really planning this in detail before you give an okay for it. Of course it would be fun to use some Deerington related backstory for it. Edit: Currently we're brainstorming this around something water related, perhaps someone who lived in Arthur's house before and drowned in the reservoir or in their own bathtub. We'd like the ghost to possess water in a way, move through it, get inside the house through plumbing, try to drown anyone it can access. Later the possessed character would try to drown ppl in various bodies of water. Maybe leave wet foot prints, drip water, speaking sound like they're under water... )

Plot will end with ghost with exorcised by some means. Or the possessed character dies and the ghost moves on.

Character(s) involved: Eddie Kaspbrak [personal profile] clussy primarily and anyone who wants to engage with this.
Closed/Open Plot: This is centric to Eddie and won't impact the game/setting on a large scale. The only people involved would be people who know/care about Eddie or are unlucky enough to get in his way during this plot.
Monsters Being Brought In: If applicable. Monsters brought in through player plots will leave the game setting once your plot has finished up. However, we are willing to allow some individual monsters to stay per request and explanation!
Content Warnings for Plot: Extreme demonic possession/demon style behavior, the murder of adults & children, allusions of child abuse, aged-up characters, possible torture/graphic violence, behaviors of emotional/mental/physical abuse, masochism, self-torture/experimentation, warped personality, 4th-walling kind of if you squint and have a boner for Stephen King, Cars.

    Details of Plot:
    - Back in May 2019 Eddie got Christine. She has very slowly eroded his mind and influenced him. He can feel jealous and defensive because of his car.

In the original rewards request for Christine, there was a limit of a 2-mile radius of being able to drive apart from Eddie. With this current possession, I'm stretching that radius to cover the entire map of Deerington but only for the duration of Eddie's possession.

    - Christine is going to serve as the "link" between the demonic world and Eddie. She opened up demonic possession with Eddie through her radio channels and possessed him officially back in that event when demonic possessions were introduced into the game (i can't remember which event..but damn it..i wrote it...I KNOW IT EXISTS).

    - This possession has been slowly worsening over the months, the demon's presence "growing" within Eddie, lying dormant and waiting for the prime time to fully consume Eddie's soul. It will seem like Eddie's monster-transformation in October will be what sealed the deal, but in actuality, the splitting of the town at the beginning of November will be what allows the demon to fully take over.

The splitting will put Eddie in a vulnerable position as it will directly impact his shining ability to regard maps, making his innate powers go wild for a second, and that's when the demon will take advantage.

    - At first, Eddie is going to appear unusually calm, maybe a little colder/harsher than normal. He's going to be obviously "off" to anyone who knows him well. His eyes are also going to be VERY SHINY during the entirety of his demonic possession so people...will be able to pick up on a physical difference.

    - When he experiments with the Egg Plants he's likely going to kill some people as a siren (probably Ben?? prob some others) and start to sink into the violence of the demon, but think it's to do with the siren transformation.

    - He's going to start performing surprisingly masochistic experiments on his own body while he's a mermaid (an actual sign of his own possession) in his own bathtub to see what happens when he does certain things/what the anatomy is like (ie; if his own scales grow back etc - gruesome stuff). At this point, he's gonna use one of the age-up lollypops from the concert to see if it makes a difference being an older-mermaid.

    - This is when the demon's gonna take 100% charge. It will see his 20-something-year-old body as a more ideal host as it's physically done growing and much stronger than Eddie as a kid. The demon will keep Eddie in this aged-up body until the exorcism has been performed. The demon will overtake his personality and mind almost entirely, but some slivers of Eddie will poke through occasionally.

    - This demon is deceitful and extremely violent. It feeds off of Eddie's trauma and will actually try to convince Eddie it's better if the Demon remains in control, that the Demon can give Eddie power and respect, that the Demon can make it so Eddie's "not so fragile" and promise Eddie "revenge on his mother and everyone who's wronged him" and will play to Eddie's vulnerabilities. The Demon's intentions are to maintain Eddie as a permanent host.

    - The Demon feeds off of negative emotions. It's only violent because pain encourages negative emotions like fear, hatred, etc. But it will definitely use emotional manipulation as well to get there.

    - The Demon has no official name, but it will refer to itself as "Chris" as a tongue-in-cheek reference to Christine. Chris postures as a much stronger demon than he actually is (seeing as he needs a human host to even stay in this world). He can manipulate electrical currents which allows him to fuck with radios/mechanical things (hello nod to Stephen King's fetish for possessed objects). Drenching the Demon with water will short-circuit its abilities and make it extremely vulnerable. Similarly, putting the Demon in a rubber room or on a rubber mat /use other such electric-resistant objects would dull its powers.

The Demon will also have Pennywise-like teeth in bursts of aggression, but they only last a few seconds and the Demon likely will use them either to intimidate or literally bite a limb off.

The Demon will have that weird, creepy ability to like...crawl on walls and move fast, but like, a normal person could still theoretically catch up to it. This is mostly for the creep factor.

    - Since Eddie does not have his right arm anymore- when he becomes his 20-something-year-old self, the Demon will replace his right arm with a cool shadowy arm. This arm's abilities are basically: since it's a shadow, it can't have any physical damage done to it and it can turn into dangerous claws that are good at stabby stabbing. It will also have some electricity flowing through it to keep to the theme. It will look like this.

    - The Demon is occupying Eddie's regular body which means any physical damage done to it will technically be done to Eddie's and won't seem to hurt the DEMON itself. But hurting Christine...does...hurt the Demon.

    - The Demon will be directly connected with Christine and share a "headspace" with her, able to control her from afar. This means that Christine will have to be destroyed/distracted while Eddie's undergoing an exorcism (Glitch is going to be the one to destroy Christine multiple times and basically have a field day with it. GOOD LUCK BRO).

    - The Demon will be exorcised through whatever lore/practices of exorcism are familiar to whatever characters volunteer to help exorcise the Demon. It's a standard demon so I'm just gonna lean on other character's standard experiences with how the schematics there work.

    - To create a lasting protection over Eddie, he will have some sort of anti-demon charm placed in Christine to prevent her from re-possessing him. Maybe even gets some signa tattooed on him WHO KNOWS either way there will be steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

All of this will take place during November-December and he will return to himself by January. After the possession, Eddie will be extremely vulnerable physically and mentally. He will be very worn down from the long-term possession (since the Demon will NOT take care of his body and will be reckless and also he'll be forced in an older body for A REALLY LONG TIME so I imagine the whiplash from shrinking back down will SUCK). He's gonna be pretty weak and need some help healing.

Eddie will likely kill and maim a lot of people during this time. Or hurt their feelings. Or both. I THINK THAT'S ALL.
