OCTOBER PART 2 PLOT PLOTTING POST

All those who have signed up for the second part to the October Event may plot here! Sign-ups have since been closed and you can find all group listings here as well as some important information pertaining the event. The event is here.

Only characters who have been signed up may interact directly with this event. However, characters can still bring attention to what's going on to the rest of Deerington. That means you can still have a character make a network post about something they have discovered and characters who are not signed up may interact with it. But as far as the actual investigation and obtaining items go, make sure to stick to just those who have been signed up!

If you have any problems or questions, let us know!

Please make sure to plot thoroughly with your group here and make sure that no one gets left out and everyone is on the same page to have a good time!

It will be assumed that all items have been obtained and sacrificed by November 1st at the latest. Your characters do not need to do this exactly IC, but for the sake of game-wide consistency, it will be figured that they have accomplished the task by this date at the latest.

Character Name: Allura
Character's Group: Chapter 4
Involvement in that group: Allura, while normally someone who is kind of a tank, is also very worn down and kind of half-broken from her de-beastification from earlier in the month, so she will be taking part as a Seer. She also has some space magic that may come in handy in regards to healing (although the side effect is it makes Allura worse, but oh well) or soothing the creatures.

She may or may need some help getting around that mountain from time to time. Sorry, friends. She'll feel guilty and salty about that at the same time.

Ideas for the Group: Definitely curious on how we're going to handle the item sacrificing. If it's a "sacrifice", should be there be some sort of ritual or offering involved? Or it simply destroying them?

Allura's mice and come and assist if need be as well! They're actually...decently competent.

ALSO do you guys think the dream guides from before could play a role in this too? IDK, food for thought! Let's plot. (That rhymes!)

LMAO HAHA NO UM, she's gonna shut down in about thirty seconds, actually, I asked the mods about how to handle this re: whether it's a "death," or not. It is, she just has a chance to be reactivated.

However it would be cool to have them talk on the way, if you'd like to do something? They're going to have three longass days to walk, come introduce yourself to the cranky lady with the weird blue thing on her head. Allura works for her (at the flower shop) and North loooooves her, so that's a thing.

Oh does sheeee~? Well, that's something North and Lance have in common: love for Allura. Though his is the romantic kind and he hasn't told her. One-sided teen drama. Basically, if she gets him started on the topic of Allura somehow, she will have a hard time getting him to shut up. But yeah! any kind of interaction between them would be fun, I am very down for that. He would think her being an android is so cool and would also tell her about Pidge who loves technology.

dshdsf oh no, Lance. Where is he from in the series? I've only seen uhhhhhhh. Geez, maybe the whole first season?

(I'm totally unbothered by spoilers, so if he's further along - which it sounds like he is - no worries!)

But yeah, at that point monster!Allura and her will have duked it out, then North will come visit her after she's Allura again, and I don't know what's a bonding experience if not that, CLEARLY. Also if you're looking for Lance to do protective things I want to play it organically whether or not North gets attacked by the ...uh, swamp sadness, because she's prone to negative feelings but they are more. Anger than sad, generally, so!! If it looks like it's going that way I could tap you to have him help her?

In conclusion, to this extremely long comment, it's been quite an experience here for the androids to have anyone view them positively, so gosh yeah, I'd love another opportunity for that!

dhdhs yes it does sound like she's winning this terrible, terrible race for the prize no one actually wants. But I have Narrative Designs, so it works out for all involved!

Anyway, she's actually made of plastic and has like ...pop off panels, essentially, so she won't need surgery, but it'll probably be interesting to watch, at least. Considering how equal parts sensible and sci-fi ridiculous android physiology is.

He's from mid season 7 haha. And he's very different from how he was in season 1, though still a class clown in a lot of ways.

Oh man, that is certainly a bonding experience. lance had his run-in with monster allura too, though he doesn't know it's her yet. He's so mad at this town for messing with her and his friends ok >:| and honestly, I'm okay with Lance doing anything as long as it's natural and gets a nice thread going. He doesn't have to save North or anything dramatic unless you really want him to, because he's also good for just being helpful and taking care of people in small ways.

And one of those ways could be thinking she's super awesome for being an android and complimenting her. He's not always the hero we often think of as saving damsels, he's more often the hero who's there for the other heroes when they need support. So... is North in need of an annoying but sometimes adorable teenage boy to lift her spirits and paint her nails? (in general, not just in the context of the event haha)

HAHA OH BOY They can bond over being mad at this town, considering like five seconds ago she and one of her castmates had to dewitchify their other castmate; basically they're all very tired of October. Stop messing with the people they love, Deerington! Or...Mother Superior, or whoever!

Ahh gosh, honestly, she needs like...she's really skittish around human men, for Reasons, but she does really well with Eddie Kaspbrak, so I would love for her to have a single other positive experience uh, at all. Basically I don't think we need to intend for anything dramatic to happen, but if the open occurs we can talk about it then! Either way I like the idea of her getting to know another liiiike, support hero, bc that's basically what she is canonically. Someone has to bolster the revolution leader when he's down, see.

Oh, yeah. I know enough about DBH to know what those reasons are. Poor North 8(. Lance is much better at boundaries at his canon point, so thank god for that. And alright! Playing it by ear sounds great to me. I'm down for Lance to flex his muscles or to be a support hero with her, or anything else. And yeah, Lance is support hero for three people, like gosh. He's second in command to Keith and for a time to Shiro, and Allura is their Princess leader and he's always supporting her when she needs it. He's the guy that bolsters the leaders too, so they can bond over that as well sometime, somehow. It's a tough job, ok.

Character Name: Josh Hoberman
Character's Group: GO, TEAM 3, GO
Involvement in that group: Josh can definitely help problem solve as a support character, but I'm more than happy to step aside and let others tackle the actual grave robbing/sacrifice/item delivery parts if people are stoked for those parts specifically!

Ideas for the Group: We're in official quest territory, boys and girls, he's got this! /RUBS HANDS TOGETHER. He's not much of a "living rough" type so the actual long march will be a trial, but he's a gigantic LoTR nerd so he's all for taking on the role of resident Samwise and cheerleading Team Bone Collector to the finish line.

That said, he's coming off a two week bender doing everything he can to keep his head down and his spirits up, but with his canonmate recently leaving he'll be wrestling with some sad feels. :'( Heeeee's... probably leaning heavily on the pharmaceuticals for a mood boost and will be blitzed the entire time, LMAO. By day three he might be getting a bit worn down, but he knows better than to get stuck in a marsh. He'll primarily be on the side of keeping morale up!

Contributions:

• They'll probably learn more about LoTR and the Dead Marshes than they ever wanted or needed to know. You're all getting a fellowship-inspired nickname, sorry.

• Lembas bread. It has to happen. It's happening.

• At least one group sing-along and round of campfire stories.

• He can grow/make water and food and liquor with his magic. Same with the grave itself--it's stone and stone is of the earth so he could probably just, like, turn it to sand if no one wants to bust it open.

• If you need CPR, he's got you, fam. With a few clues chances are high he has the pop culture knowledge to figure out the riddle, too so that's another option.

Oh boy, I'm actually glad you already know because I always feel very /sweat bubble when I have to be like "you should maybe just read her app, uh," etc. Ironically for how Deerington is terrible and everything, I think she's actually a lot happier here than she ever was in Detroit, like. She has a house, she has a paying job, she has people who love her ...it's very confusing.

I'm really excited about this :3 It'll be neat to see how Lance has changed, since you can defs see in the beginning his like, humble support hero origins, but he definitely still has a lot of growing up to do. (PS please tell her about space.)

Shira if he does not recognize these are as much the Swamps of Sadness from the Neverending Story as they are the Dead Marshes, he is fired.

Also I personally am 100% for him dealing with the casket, just bc it's a cool Magiciany thing to do! There's enough to go around that like, everyone should get to have a cool little hero moment.

When this is all over and calmed down, I'd be down for trying to make that brick throwing therapy an actual thing haha.

AND yeah, I get what you mean, I've played characters with similar touchy backgrounds before too, and also ones that are strangely happy in the hell game they found themselves in, it's an interesting and fun dichotomy to explore for a character.

I'm also excited! he's never interacted with someone like North and it should be interesting to see and play. And he would love to tell her about space, and cuba and basically everything awesome ever??

GOD, I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THE NEVERENDING STORY. Okay, yes, LoTR and NS references for the next 72 hours (or longer depending on how lost they get IDK sldfk;jfgf), it's a done deal.

THAT IS CERTAINLY AN OPTION IF NO ONE ELSE DOES IT. Tbh, I'd be fine just having him try to magic up water and get, like, fresca instead. Fresca and acid carrots: the event.

Character Name: Jesse McCree
Character's Group: Group 4
Involvement in that group: Jesse would be best suited for being directly involved as a guardian! He might have some problems playing fair with at least one notable member of his group, but he'll be able to put that aside for the time it takes to get the job done. He's got a lot of combat training and a weapon for shootin' bad guys.

Ideas for the Group: No definite ideas as of yet, but I'm looking forward to us planning together to see what we can come up with! I imagine it might take them a try or two to get it right when it comes to using the items together.

TEAM 2 TOPLEVEL

OK, for the sake of easier organisation, it might be better to have everyone comment with their own toplevels here? Especially since there're going to be items that not everyone can get.

So! I'm going to parse the huge chunk of info we have for Chapter 2 in this toplevel. Characters will be compelled to enter the Mayor's House following an eerie feeling of having come from the Mayor's House and needing to return inside, rather than believing they're coming from the outside and going in. These're the things that can happen, divided into UNNECESSARY/NECESSARY events.

UNNECESSARY
1. Your character approaches the kitchen and starts to feel crushing despair in the hallway leading up to it. Character can be saved by others.
2. Your character approaches the den and is suddenly assaulted by physical blows from an unseen entity. Characters CAN die no matter their physical defences/healing factors, and must leave the den quickly to prevent this.
3. Your character goes to the second floor, walks towards the darkened part of the hallway, and can never reach the end. Walking into the dark will only have characters appearing back where they began in a loop.

NECESSARY
Your character enters the girl (Julia)'s bedroom, with items of importance being:
> A stuffed animal (1)
> Children's books (assorted*, with the most important one being The Velveteen Rabbit)
> Little girl's clothes and shoes
> A bunch of naked dolls, clothes cannot be found
> An incredibly detailed dollhouse, unfinished. The crib still needs to be painted, and there's both a freshly-used paintbrush and acrylic paint if you want to continue it.

The stuffed animal and The Velveteen Rabbit grant the holders immunity to the event beasts and the monsters of Deerington, but this is only OOC knowledge so far.

The objective for Chapter 2 is to tear apart the wallpaper in Julia's bedroom, which reveals a painting of a deer.
