October Plotting Post : Part 2

OCTOBER PART 2 PLOT PLOTTING POST

All those who have signed up for the second part to the October Event may plot here! Sign-ups have since been closed and you can find all group listings here as well as some important information pertaining the event. The event is here.

Only characters who have been signed up may interact directly with this event. However, characters can still bring attention to what's going on to the rest of Deerington. That means you can still have a character make a network post about something they have discovered and characters who are not signed up may interact with it. But as far as the actual investigation and obtaining items go, make sure to stick to just those who have been signed up!

If you have any problems or questions, let us know!

Please make sure to plot thoroughly with your group here and make sure that no one gets left out and everyone is on the same page to have a good time!

It will be assumed that all items have been obtained and sacrificed by November 1st at the latest. Your characters do not need to do this exactly IC, but for the sake of game-wide consistency, it will be figured that they have accomplished the task by this date at the latest.

Character Name: Mikan Tsumiki
Character's Group: 3
Involvement in that group: If anyone has a character that would be too squicked out to do the actual cutting someone open for an organ or whatever, Mikan is known in her world by the title of Ultimate Nurse, so she's perfectly suited for this sort of thing and wouldn't mind doing so.

Ideas for the Group: The closer to falling into a despair-like state Mikan gets, the more giddy she'll become. So instead of becoming despondent or woe-is-me, she might start randomly giggling more or looking dazed in a way that, er, might seem sexual, and she'll become more hyper-focused. She probably won't sink at all and may say really off-the-wall things.

Also if anyone gets sick/injured/etc. Mikan is scarily accurate at diagnosing at a glance and always carries around bandages with her, and some other minor first-aid sort of things in her apron so.

Dude, I would love to have some interactions with Mikan, I'm so happy we got put in the same group! Lance would be totally freaked out by her, but also feel strangely like he should make sure she doesn't fall into a death trap while she's looking dazed.

He will also likely get sick/injured at some point in some way for some reason or another. He's prone to danger.

Involvement in that group: So like, does anyone have strong objections to their character not losing an organ? Because for Reasons otherwise it can be North. Unless someone else really, really wants to come back with 50% fewer eyeballs or kidneys or whatever.

Character's Group: Chapter 1: Hospital
Involvement in that group: I am game for whatever. I just wanted to offer a good lead in to maybe getting a team together. I have a post that I was going to put up with Angela one way or another because it talks about the F.E.A.R. medical bay and the hospital since that's where she works and has been keeping a close eye on things. I had her make a post that could be a good starter to getting things together for the plot if anyone is interested in using that as an IC plotting devise? Either way, let me know what your thoughts are on doing this thing!

Character Name: Lance
Character's Group: chapter 3
Involvement in that group: Lance is new here and he's become really concerned about the affect Deerington has had on his friends, so he's gonna be as active a participant as he can be with his skillsets to try and figure out what's happening. However, his skillsets are more suited to protecting and saving others, usually by putting himself in danger, being a really good shot and being really compassionate. He's... not an intellectual, though he'll try his hardest.

Ideas for the Group: Generally, I'd just love to see everyone get a chance to shine and participate and get nice CR with everyone else. I'm a fucking hippy like that. If I think of something actually useful, I'll edit or add a comment to this thread.

EDIT: lance could totally succumb to the despair by around like day 2-3, and he's also accident and danger prone, so if anyone wants to rescue him at any point, he is good for that. On the other side of things, he's also the kind of dude to throw himself in harm's way to save others. So if you need saving, he is also good for that! And lastly, if you need emotional support and someone to talk to, he'll do his best to lift your spirits somehow if he's not otherwise falling apart himself.

EDIT: I wanna try to have lance befriend one of the stilt creatures somehow. And idk, ride one? if that's possible. Maybe they can get one to carry someone who is hurt at some point.

Involvement in that group: zoro is really forthcoming in his Group Activities with his crew, so he'd both be a team player and involved with getting people through alive. or alive-ish. he can try.

Ideas for the Group: i'm honestly really flexible, and zoro has been brought to his knees before (in a sort of jokey/gimmicky lighthearted way) in despair, saying he was worthless and wanting to die.

that being said, i'm open to him being one of the ones to get sucked into the bog in a similar vein. it would probably be easyish to get him back out though.

injury is fine with me and death is ok too!

Shiro | 4

Character's Group: Group 4
Involvement in that group: Shiro's going to be dead tired during this event, but he's also going to be employed as a Guardian for the duration. He's got a handy dandy metal arm that glows and is a handy-dandy weapon.

Ideas for the Group: He's literally willing to be thrown anywhere, and will fight anything like a big, dorito-shaped ballerina of death. Sort of. He's best suited to either 1 vs 1 combat, or directly protecting someone. He is absolutely the type to throw himself into a situation where he'd take a hit for someone else, too.

I'm up for any kind of plotting!

Looks like Shiro can help with keeping with the defense in the end for certain! And he can lift and carry people to certain locations when things get a little bumpy.

Group 1

Character Name: Kurama/Shuichi Minamino
Character's Group: Chapter 1
Involvement in that group: Kurama is a very good advisor and a great fighter. He can puzzle things out, help keep the group calm. And, if necessary, he can offer some on-site healing to keep people alive. He's going to be very business-like with a group of people, and drop the normal human teenager act. He's good in a role of advisor or wise-man and will definitely help piece things together/guard the rear.

He can be nurturing, but he has to care or want to help.

Ideas for the Group: I don't have any particular plans, really! Honestly, I'm willing to fill any role necessary, but Kurama's going to want to go and explore, try and learn what he can.

Involvement in that group: I'm thinking Rei will be the Seer! Seeing how she is not great at combat, but she does have a lot of compassion. She's also quick on the research and thinking on her feet!

She'll also try her best with soothing Trico.

Ideas for the Group: I'm thinking that we'll all have to think of how to get the items sacrificed to wake Sodder up, but I'm sure the Seers can try to keep Trico calm via their various abilities while the Guardians pull them out?

Rei can take photographs of all three items, but I'm not sure it'll do anything. I'll have to ask.

Character's Group: 3
Involvement in that group: Rei can and will likely be actively trying to help? Especially for people who start to sink into the mud. She isn't likely to start falling into despair or anything. That's not really in her vocabulary. She may become Mars if things get hairy but I'd rather keep her human as a part of this adventure due to some events.

Also she has this crazy glitter pen sword that can instill hope and love in people?

Finally, she can purify the water with some of her magic so they won't, like, die of thirst.

Ideas for the Group: So I'd very much like for Rei to talk someone out of staying and drowning. I'd also be highly amused if she hands off one copy of the glitter pen sword to someone who's struggling.

Beyond that, I'm up for her involvement in most things? Maybe giving or receiving mouth to mouth.

Hey there! I have gone back and forth on whether Lance would succumb to the despair, and I feel like he might by like the third day? So if you wanted him to be who Rei passes off a glitter pen sword to... I would also find that really amusing.

Allura | Chapter 4

Character's Group: Chapter 4
Involvement in that group: Allura, while normally someone who is kind of a tank, is also very worn down and kind of half-broken from her de-beastification from earlier in the month, so she will be taking part as a Seer. She also has some space magic that may come in handy in regards to healing (although the side effect is it makes Allura worse, but oh well) or soothing the creatures.

She may or may need some help getting around that mountain from time to time. Sorry, friends. She'll feel guilty and salty about that at the same time.

Ideas for the Group: Definitely curious on how we're going to handle the item sacrificing. If it's a "sacrifice", should be there be some sort of ritual or offering involved? Or it simply destroying them?

Allura's mice and come and assist if need be as well! They're actually...decently competent.

ALSO do you guys think the dream guides from before could play a role in this too? IDK, food for thought! Let's plot. (That rhymes!)

Character's Group: GO, TEAM 3, GO
Involvement in that group: Josh can definitely help problem solve as a support character, but I'm more than happy to step aside and let others tackle the actual grave robbing/sacrifice/item delivery parts if people are stoked for those parts specifically!

Ideas for the Group: We're in official quest territory, boys and girls, he's got this! /RUBS HANDS TOGETHER. He's not much of a "living rough" type so the actual long march will be a trial, but he's a gigantic LoTR nerd so he's all for taking on the role of resident Samwise and cheerleading Team Bone Collector to the finish line.

That said, he's coming off a two week bender doing everything he can to keep his head down and his spirits up, but with his canonmate recently leaving he'll be wrestling with some sad feels. :'( Heeeee's... probably leaning heavily on the pharmaceuticals for a mood boost and will be blitzed the entire time, LMAO. By day three he might be getting a bit worn down, but he knows better than to get stuck in a marsh. He'll primarily be on the side of keeping morale up!

Contributions:

• They'll probably learn more about LoTR and the Dead Marshes than they ever wanted or needed to know. You're all getting a fellowship-inspired nickname, sorry.

• Lembas bread. It has to happen. It's happening.

• At least one group sing-along and round of campfire stories.

• He can grow/make water and food and liquor with his magic. Same with the grave itself--it's stone and stone is of the earth so he could probably just, like, turn it to sand if no one wants to bust it open.

• If you need CPR, he's got you, fam. With a few clues chances are high he has the pop culture knowledge to figure out the riddle, too so that's another option.

Shira if he does not recognize these are as much the Swamps of Sadness from the Neverending Story as they are the Dead Marshes, he is fired.

Also I personally am 100% for him dealing with the casket, just bc it's a cool Magiciany thing to do! There's enough to go around that like, everyone should get to have a cool little hero moment.

Character's Group: Group 4
Involvement in that group: Jesse would be best suited for being directly involved as a guardian! He might have some problems playing fair with at least one notable member of his group, but he'll be able to put that aside for the time it takes to get the job done. He's got a lot of combat training and a weapon for shootin' bad guys.

Ideas for the Group: No definite ideas as of yet, but I'm looking forward to us planning together to see what we can come up with! I imagine it might take them a try or two to get it right when it comes to using the items together.

TEAM 2 TOPLEVEL

OK, for the sake of easier organisation, it might be better to have everyone comment with their own toplevels here? Especially since there're going to be items that not everyone can get.

So! I'm going to parse the huge chunk of info we have for Chapter 2 in this toplevel. Characters will be compelled to enter the Mayor's House following an eerie feeling of having come from the Mayor's House and needing to return inside, rather than believing they're coming from the outside and going in. These're the things that can happen, divided into UNNECESSARY/NECESSARY events.

UNNECESSARY
1. Your character approaches the kitchen and starts to feel crushing despair in the hallway leading up to it. Character can be saved by others.
2. Your character approaches the den and is suddenly assaulted by physical blows from an unseen entity. Characters CAN die no matter their physical defences/healing factors, and must leave the den quickly to prevent this.
3. Your character goes to the second floor, walks towards the darkened part of the hallway, and can never reach the end. Walking into the dark will only have characters appearing back where they began in a loop.

NECESSARY
Your character enters the girl (Julia)'s bedroom, with items of importance being:
> A stuffed animal (1)
> Children's books (assorted*, with the most important one being The Velveteen Rabbit)
> Little girl's clothes and shoes
> A bunch of naked dolls, clothes cannot be found
> An incredibly detailed dollhouse, unfinished. The crib still needs to be painted, and there's both a freshly-used paintbrush and acrylic paint if you want to continue it.

The stuffed animal and The Velveteen Rabbit grant the holders immunity to the event beasts and the monsters of Deerington, but this is only OOC knowledge so far.

The objective for Chapter 2 is to tear apart the wallpaper in Julia's bedroom, which reveals a painting of a deer.

Character's Group: chapter 1
Involvement in that group: X'rhun is tired and sick and SUPER SORE because he's died and become a monster, HOWEVER his favorite element is fire, so he's actually quite useful in combat once he figures out the Babies' weakness, and of course he can deal with the nurses too. He's basically delegated to fighting/bodyguard duty for whoever wants to partner up with him and save the deer and its umbilical cord, because he's not up for much else other than that.

Darcy Lewis | GROUP 1

Character's Group: Chapter 1
Involvement in that group: I would love for Darcy to be directly involved with the deer, even possibly ripping open the placenta because she is definitely a very compassionate person and will put someone else's or an animal's well-being before her own. If she were to help with this, she'd definitely need someone watching her back. She has fighting skills that could help from her CRAU, but she tries to save those for when there are no other options.

Ideas for the Group: PRETTY OPEN, LET'S DO THIS - I'm gonna hit other people's top-levels in here as well :D

Character's Group: Group 1
Involvement in that group: I'm very excited because he has baby related past trauma. Anyway, he's good for fighting but his real use is probably superspeed since The Babies don't really care if they get punched. So he'd be best utilised for scouting/watching someone's back as opposed to helping defeat these particular monsters. Unless they get Molotov cocktails or something, then he'd be good.

Ideas for the Group: Glancing at the plot and group it sounds like a team of baby-punchers and then some smarties and a sweetheart. Since they need to get that cord out, maybe they'd take it to the F.E.A.R. med bay...?

Chapter 4

Character's Group: 4
Involvement in that group: So, Baby's brand new but I do enjoy throwing characters into the deep end. He'd be a seer here, if anything, and he's good at carrying things so he'd probably be okay with that despite his general confusion and overall wtf at what's gone on. But, he's a very roll with the punches kind of guy and he'll wait to ask most of his questions until things are less pear shaped. He'll be defaulting to anyone else because again, new.

Ideas for the Group: Nothing really! He's around to provide support and/or tunes for the walk. Other than that, he'll be mostly a follower, doing what he needs to do before he figures out what's going on.

Chapter 3 + Plotting Gdoc!

Character Name: Adam Parrish
Character's Group: Chapter 3
Involvement in that group: He’s a heavy-hitter for problem solving and magic use, but he’s also going to be very prone to depression throughout the swamps.

Ideas for the Group:

Swamp navigation - Adam’s powers in Deerington specifically give him ‘finding the right path’ bonuses, so he can lead the way along relatively dry paths and will point the group onward toward the grave.
Swamp sadness - Adam’s prone to insecurity and depression, which he’s already been struggling with due to Witchiness in October, so he’ll be really struggling with will to keep going.
Lunch - Adam planned ahead but not for this. He brought lunch and snacks for two, so he can share a little food.

Distract the angry tree - At the graveside once the tree gets angry, Adam will draw its attention.
Open the grave - Adam can crack it open with relatively little desecration, by just magic fracturing it along the seams.

Figure out what to give the snake - Adam’s good at puzzle solving and plans so he can help with this, and he’s also good at understanding what the dream wants. I of course don’t want him to single-handedly solve it, but he can be helpfully cryptic like declaring “it wants a sacrifice” but then not helping at all to clarify re: sacrifice.

Once they get the bones and start to escape, Adam will do his best to hold the stained glass path open and steady while people run. I might have this end in him getting caught in the path closing, because he will stay behind to make sure everyone else gets out, but that’s all somewhat dependent on questions I’m waiting for mod responses on.

Group Four

Monsters let loose in the hospital

Involvement in that group: Bruce can help deliver the deer OR keep people safe. He might not necessarily Hulk out if he can help it (because close-quarters, people might get squashed). Maybe take a stick or bat to smacking the monster babies away unless someone breaks out the fire ahaaa.

Ideas for the Group: Chapter 1 seems relatively straightforward, so if people wanted extra shenanigans we could have some of the fighter types go ahead of the main group to keep the path clear, have some come up from the rear to deal with the Nurses while the ones inside the Nursery deal with the babies and the deer?

Also if fire is going to be used on the babies, gonna need fire control to make sure they don't burn the ward down around them...... Unless people would like to burn the Hospital down.
