As a result of her recent dream walking, on May 17th, Lilith is going to be casting a summoning spell to try and summon the shadowy figures that were seen across dreams. This itself will fail but her spell will end up summoning forth something else instead.

Nightmares.

Pulled from each character's dreams, these nightmares will appear as shadowy/ghostly figures, either a person that may appear in your character's nightmares or a repeating scene that others can stumble upon. You can go wild with their effects -- will they follow you and try and act out the content of the nightmare or turn and cause mayhem elsewhere? (As always, check with the mods for anything more!)

As Lilith's goal of this spell is to have drawn out the figure that she saw she's going to be spending her time looking for that and not really caring that anyone's getting traumatised . This means that you get a few days to play with this before she reverses the spell and sends all the nightmares back on May 21st.

OPT OUT: If you're not into nightmares/don't want one for your character you can say that your character wasn't asleep at the time when Lilith cast the spell.

Will these figures be completely incorporeal or can they physically interact with the world?

Good question! I'm going to lean towards a more incorporeal thing, emphasis on the psychological effects of the nightmares rather than any physical attack. Though characters may initially believe that these figures could physically harm them they'll find out that they're not physically harmed by any attack. Though the nightmares would continue acting out whatever their nightmare is (e.g. if a nightmare was trying to kill you it would continue doing so, like in a recurring dream) which could give additional psychological effects in addition to the lingering fear.

Character name: lilith
What sort of nightmare will come from your character: her nightmare is going to be coming in the form of lucifer killing her, one of the few things she actually fears. lucifer is going to be appearing in his goatly glory whilst lilith will also be in her natural demonic form. the scene is just going to be playing out rather than following lilith around so anyone is free to observe it! when she sees it she'll be appropriately disturbed by seeing it (but try and brush it off as just a disturbing scene if anyone questions her) before going about her business.

in terms of the spell, lilith will be casting her summoning spell in the woods during the witching hour. if there's anyone not sleeping at that time they're free to observe her doing so.

What sort of nightmare will come from your character: quill is going to be followed by a (couple of) shadow kin, the aliens who wiped out her planet. they'll be actively trying to kill her and considering she can't fight she's going to be trying to flee/get other people away from them because what is not realising that this isn't actually an invasion? watch your shadows, guys

Character name: Thor
What sort of nightmare will come from your character: Hela. Causing mayhem, basically. Thor's greatest nightmare right now is that she some how escaped the destruction of Asgard and would turn her sights on Earth. So her ghostly form will be terrorizing anyone she finds, demanding they kneel and serve her. She's quite violent and murder-happy, but thankfully she's just a shadow and can't ACTUALLY hurt you. But still terrifying.

Character name: Maggie Lacivi
What sort of nightmare will come from your character: The nightmare that will come from Maggie will be a shadow-y version of her friend Ava saying some pretty harsh things towards her. It can also follow other people around as well telling them things like "You'll never be loved" or pointing out all their physical or personality flaws. Ava's sudden turn on her certainly has a big impact on Maggie as it's implied in the comic that Maggie did either commit or attempt to commit suicide.

Character name: Shinichi Izumi
What sort of nightmare will come from your character: Aliens! The creatures that invaded Shinichi's home city and overtook human brains. They appear like people with lifeless eyes and no emotions, whose heads can do all manner of splitting / slicing / tentacle whipping. True to what's in his nightmares, they will stalk and attack Shinichi to try and kill him, or to try and merge into his body with Migi to make themselves stronger. And go after other folks B)

They're pretty malleable, so if you don't want to play up the grosser head-splitting thing, they could just be creepy dead-eyed people quietly stalking you for some paranoia! Parasyte is huge on psychological horror and the theme of "not knowing who is hosting one of these things", so it's a spectrum that can be played around with.

(cw: body horror and sci-fi horror visuals: For a heads up, these things are reminiscent of Carpenter's The Thing, with some of the Plagas from Resident Evil 4, and the Demogorgon from Stranger Things.) Here is a little gallery of some types of transformations that would plague Shinichi's nightmares at this point. Also, they make pretty eerie noises and tend to screech, especially if someone attacks them back.

Character name: Ronan Lynch
What sort of nightmare will come from your character: Ronan canonically dreams up nightmare monsters! They look like big, misshapen birds (by big, think "size of a small car) with two beaks/faces and wicked sharp claws. They are absolutely hostile and will appear so, though ofc since this is a shadowy figure, it can't actually hurt. Ronan is used to being able to not be hurt by these monsters, so he won't be thrilled about this. Other characters can see this.


I'm sitting Credence Barebone out for this because his nightmares would be about child abuse and/or death and I really don't wanna trigger the whole town. SO.

Character name: Fern
What sort of nightmare will come from your character: Fern's nightmare is of a giant clawed hand. This is one form of the Lich (Jake-flavoured), one of the major antagonists in Adventure Time who is essentially the personification of entropy and seeks to end all existence and reality (and I don't mean just kill everything, because AT already has a Death and a Satan as characters). In accordance with all things Lich-y he exudes an aura of death and rot. He won't be outwardly aggressive, but more manipulative in whispering at characters with his beautiful Ron Perlman voice to influence their minds and come closer despite the absolutely repulsive feeling he gives off.

What sort of nightmare will come from your character: cw for mind torture

this scene will be playing on a loop down by the lakefront, starting with where i marked it and ending after a good 30 seconds of rey screaming and being tortured when she falls back to the ground like a sack of potatoes (not in the clip and i couldn't find a clip that had it and i'm too lazy/afraid of disney to upload my own) Then it'll start over. So anyone is free to observe it, and I'll have an open with Rey observing it at some point too.

Character name: Chara Dreemurr
What sort of nightmare will come from your character: I'm going to keep this vague because their backstory is vague, so all this nightmare will entail is a small child (Chara, obvs) locked in some kind of small room - namely, a closet. They're not having a good time. They're hyperventilating, panicked, and in pain. Their nails are scuffed and their fists are bruised, and there are dents and scratches in the walls and at the door that indicates they've tried to get out and failed. When they move, it's like someone who's been injured. Anyone who's claustrophobic will probably not have a fun time with that.

Obviously because this is pretty sensitive content, no one has to interact with it if you don't want them to! The scene will be somewhere out of the way, near the church.

What sort of nightmare will come from your character: This scene played on a loop.
played on a loop. It's a memory from Caitlin's past, one that's been stirred up with her (temporary) loss of powers. Anyone can observe it, and she'll answer questions about it if anyone asks.

Character name: Ruby
What sort of nightmare will come from your character: <a href="http://supernaturalwiki.com/images/thumb/f/f9/Alastair1.jpg/800px-Alastair1.jpg>Alastair.</a> Hell's chief torturer. Picasso with a razor. He'll be stalking Ruby, intent on torturing her again for tricking him. But he may turn on anyone who has a demonic nature or tainted blood.
