WELCOME TO DEERINGTON!

Hello new players, and hello old players with new faces! We're thrilled to have you in the game and we hope your time here is horrifically wonderful! Please feel free to use this space to introduce yourselves to one another and show off your new characters! Below is some useful information for all new players of the game and how you can expect the game to function! You certainly do not need to read it in order to plunge into the game, but we felt it might prove useful for some people and help you adjust to how the game works quicker!

Please make sure to sign your characters up for this month's team event! All new characters may also participate in the various prompt's from August's event! These prompts last until the end of September. Feel free to post to August's original event post or create a log for yourself!

EVENTS AND MEMES

We have an IC Prelude Post made by our NPC, the Dog Keeper, in the DeerFeed community. This functions as an edition of the Deerington Post that all characters are ICly capable of receiving. It will give hints and suggestions to what you can expect from the upcoming event without giving full details, and it also clarifies things like the weather in Deerington or other important IC details for the month, such as severe impacts on characters or the environment. Prelude Posts are made at the first of every month.

We hold one event per month. Many of our events have a lasting impact on characters that will sometimes carry over a month or two after the original posting. We always clarify what parts of these events may carry over, and even as a new player, you may be able to access certain elements from events posted before you were in game! Events can be found in the deerington community and carry over events will be linked in the new event posts for reference.

We provide content warnings for each of our events. Each event typically has a specific horror focus, and some events may be more specific than others. Please make sure to read the content warnings closely. All of our events are specifically designed so players can feel comfortable opting out of any of the events without completely missing out on what's going on. Never feel you have to engage with any part of an event that makes you uncomfortable!

With every event we post a plotting post so that everyone can dig in on what they want to plan for the event. This is posted at the same time as the event.

We have a CR meme that is posted every other month. This encourages people to make long-term plans with each other as well as catch up on what characters might be going through in the game!

Our Test Drive Meme is posted on the 25th of every month. All TDM events can be used in game canon! You can also use direct TDM posts as AC! 10 points for a top-level (new characters only), 3 points per log comment, 1 point per network comment (all players).

Our Activity Check always begins on the first and closes on the fifth. Please remember to comment to this post so you can submit your AC! One of our players has made a helpful tracker for those who may be interested!

While we have provided you with your essential links for joining the game, we have compiled a useful list of links you might be interested in for further immersion of the game!

↪ The Dog Keeper: The Dog Keeper is probably the most interactive and consistent of the NPCs in our game. You can actively contact and communicate with the Dog Keeper, but don't always expect an immediate response! Heck, sometimes he won't respond at all. You can find further information about the Dog Keeper here and more about his dogs here.

↪ The Deerly Beloved App: This was a "dating application" made for the game back in the 2019 February Event. The application is a bit of a hacking-app that will break itself into a character's phone and potentially use fourth wall information to make up a silly Tinder-style profile. Feel free to put this on your journal for your character and have fun with it! It is 100% optional.

↪ The Bestiary: This is a good reference to the beasts your character may be able to interact with inside of the game. Some of them are very situational or location based, but we have provided the monsters that might routinely be seen throughout the game. Feel free to dig right into playing around with them!

↪ Game Calendar: Most of our posts are consistently made the same dates every month, such as our AC and our applications, but we make sure to post when game-events can be expected! Most game events are made between the 11th to the 15th. We try to update the calendar at least one week before the end of each month.

↪ Death Certificates: This will help you keep track of your character's deaths in game as well as any symptoms they might be experiencing. Most new characters won't have to worry about this but heck, what do we know? Maybe you'll want to get to dying sooner than most!

Latroma (Latroma) here, introducing Larxene, from Kingdom Hearts. She's ... an awful person. No, seriously, she's just a rotten apple to her core. She's a sadist with a wicked, terrible sense of humor who delights in the misery of others and who has a particularly soft spot for kicking heroes' butts. She loves electricity, electrocuting people, stabbing people with knives, the sound of thunder as it splits eardrums, the screams of pain when she kicks someone in the face and watching people fall to their dooms.

She hates heroes, generosity, kindness, people who try to "Save" her or others, feelings that don't involve pain and I don't think she's a huge fan of puppies either.

I'd love to say that there's some deep-seated core, tucked away in the Nobody's long lost heart that screams in pain and anguish over someone who hurt her, but there's really no sign of it. She's a willing Nobody, a terrible person and delights in hurting people. So don't expect sunshines and rainbows with this girl. Nope, there won't be any heart-felt sharing of feelings on the Deerington clocktower with salted ice cream bars. Just nasty laughs, worse jokes and threats with knives.

Oh, she's capable of working with people towards a goal, and distantly she's willing to try and get out of here even if she's in no rush to finish Xenohart's plans, but expect her to mock you the whole way, even if she likes you. And she probably doesn't.

Oh, and don't expect a date if your name isn't Marluxia. She's got no heart for it. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ... Ok, maybe Axel. MAYBE.

Jason's a kid from the streets who got his golden ticket to the Batcave, billionaire mansion and all. He got to be Batman's 2nd Robin, and not to brag, but that shit was fucken awesome! ... Until he got himself beaten half to death by the Joker and exploded. Dying's a bitch, but digging yourself out of your own grave is priceless.

Redhood, his vigilante alias, is your average outlaw with a rap sheet up the wazoo. He's got some mad detective skills, fights dirty and will kill any asshole that deserves a bullet between the eyes. He's generally a fast talker with an easy-going attitude. He's great at surface level interactions but dig any deeper and there's a wall a mile high there.

Hello hello! I'm Bri, and I'm brand new, bringing in Foggy Nelson from the Netflix side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Foggy is a defense attorney born and raised in New York, who opened up a tiny law firm with his best friend right out of law school so they could help people who might otherwise get screwed over by the court system. And who often paid in pie instead of dollars, but Foggy wasn't complaining. Much. Then he found out his best friend was secretly a ninja with magic senses who liked to beat up bad guys in his spare time, and things went on a fun vigilante roller coaster after that. Foggy's from a point in canon where his tiny firm has dissolved and he's working for a big, fancy law firm - while simultaneously still basically being the vigilante lawyer so apparently he'll never escape that.

He's also a CRAU, coming from fasti, a game in ancient Rome where characters were recruited by the gods to fight in the war against the Titans! His patron god is Mercury and he ended up being super fond of the guy, because being granted luck and other rogue type powers will do that.

Hello, and welcome! I'm Andie, and I just joined up last month with Wrench here, who is from the Fargo television series. He's a former hitman who worked in -- and was largely raised up by -- a mob syndicate. They were violently disbanded a while back and he's been floating in the wind since.

Huge, huge love for Foggy. Daredevil was pretty instrumental in getting me into comics, and I'm a big fan of the Netflix series (which means I'm also still in mourning). So I'm super happy to see him around.

no i'm kidding but the hat is like, most of it. he's a US marshal originally from kentucky with a Dark Past and Baggage and so on and so on, and a very old west brand of justice. everyone's constantly saying RAYLAN NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT THAT'S ILLEGAL! and he's like THAT SIGN CAN'T STOP ME BECAUSE I CAN'T READ!!!! he got sent back to kentucky as a punishment after working in miami for years because he shot a gun thug in a rooftop bar in front of everyone (the other guy pulled first) and although he's been threatening to leave kentucky ever since he got there HE STILL HASN'T because of the eternal feud and/or love story with his best frenemy boyd. they dug coal together when they were nineteen, you couldn't hope to understand. he's a great shot and like, very very very very quick on a quickdraw, although he has no other powers and is gonna be generally befuddled by any mention of that like the sweet idiot cowpoke he is. and because i can't stress this enough, he really does wear that cowboy hat everywhere, literally everywhere. it's 2013 raylan.

for those canon-familiar, i'm pulling him from the end of season 5 (literally just because i haven't finished my rewatch yet, but i might canon update him when i do). his permissions post is here, and it's worth reiterating my content warnings here just in case anyone wants to opt out (absolutely no hard feelings on my part!): interacting with raylan is likely to include mention of guns, death, and police shootings. it won't be excessively gory, but violence might come up all the same. also, raylan's father was regularly both verbally and physically abusive towards both raylan and his mother.

hello friends! i'm jabbers and i've apped in here with my first character, a... toy. this is buzz lightyear from the slightly obscure movie series toy story! for all three of you that are canon blind, he's a toy that initially believed himself to be a real space man, was completely insufferable, went on a dramatic friendship adventure with woody, realised he wasn't a toy, had an intense existential depression for about half a day then accepted his new life and toy-family. it is very wholesome, we all know it.

he's a friendly and heroic little guy, even if it'll take him a little while to get used to the situation. i've apped him from the end of the fourth movie which shakes things up a little, so if you'd like to avoid spoilers of any kind (for any of the movies, honestly) just let me know here!

Hello hello! I'm Sara and this is my first time in Deerington, and I'll be playing Theseus Scamander from Fantastic Beasts/Harry Potter. He's the older brother of Newt Scamander and is pretty different in comparison! He's the Head Auror of the British Ministry, a war hero of WWI, and overall a lot more put together and outgoing and confident. Definitely not as enamored with beasts as Newt, but he's honestly a pretty good guy still that deeply cares about his brother. And despite how different they are, they share a few qualities because they're both really dumb in the end.

And speaking of which, he'll be living with Newt at his townhouse! So anyone that visits will most likely see Theseus sometime.

His canon point is post Crimes of Grindelwald, so if you want me to avoid spoilers, just let me know!

this post had 69 comments when I got home so I didn't want to comment but y'all gotta know me right. I'm Frank! I'm a sleepy old loser you can find on plurk at firemansam or discord at Frankentine#0816. I've been super busy recently and almost didn't submit my apps on time because i was playing Minecraft............................. But I'm here! With two characters because I can't make decisions.

The first of them is Mr Eames of Inception, but because I live to be a nuisance he's a CRAU from an AU game. I don't make things simple for anyone, especially myself. He is a (reluctant) Fae Lord, about 600 years old, and full of a lot of magic. His app is here if you want more information than I can give you 20 minutes after getting home, but the most important thing is he also comes with a dog. He's a 3 year-old Rottweiler and a very good boy and Eames will kill you if you hurt a hair on his son's body.
He could also use a line on doing Crime. Smuggling, theft, offering deals for favours that may or may not be a monkey's paw kinda situation depending on his mood. Dude literally hasn't had a normal job in, uh. Ever. He's literally been a criminal for like 500 years.

The second is Terrance Ward from Marvel 616, he's a good kid who got conscripted into superhero boot camp and somehow came out of it as a qualified and practising therapist despite being like 20 years old. He's helpful to the point of self-endangerment, very deadpan, almost never smiles, and filled with a deep and pervasive self-loathing! He's also a fear demon who accidentally drove away his best friends and drove his mother insane to the point she had to be institutionalised because he couldn't control his powers yet. But that's the past, it's not like that would have deep, ingrained ramifications for the way he sees himself or handles his relationships or anything! His app is here if you're feeling nosy.

He's not going to be happy at all to be here with the warping of his powers and his darkness being much more unstable. Don't expect anything good to come of him. Oh, I'm taking him from the end of Kingdom Hearts 3 so there's that! Let me know if you'd like to avoid any spoilers as well!

I'm Kristine and this is Matthew Murdock, the Marvel Cinematic Universe Netflix Edition with a CRAU twist.

Matt is a defense attorney born and raised in Hell's Kitchen in NYC who started a humble law firm with his best friend to help stand up for the little guy. (If you already read the intro for Foggy this might sound familiar...) What people don't know is that he spends his nights in a mask punching out bad guys as the vigilante dubbed Daredevil. When Matt was a kid he was blinded by some radioactive (of course) chemicals in an accident but his other senses were all enhanced far beyond normal human capability. So while he is blind, he's pretty much a ninja who can literally sniff out info on the world around him.

Matt comes from the end of Defenders (spoilers!) after a building collapsed over him and his crazy ex girlfriend, most likely killing them. (But there was a s3 of DD after that so you can probably guess how that went.) He's also CRAU, so from his point of view he lost consciousness as the building went down and woke up in ancient Rome. In Fasti characters were summoned by the gods to Rome to fight the Titans. Matt was chosen by the goddess Ceres and granted plant and dirt powers. Nature powerrrr~! He spent over half a year there and now he's waking up in Deerington.

So! Lucifer doesn't lie, it's one of the first things he'll tell people. I'm sure Matt will realize his powers suddenly don't work 100% of the time at some point, so I figure we could get some interesting CR simply out of Matt wondering if this guy who introduces himself as the Devil is full of shit or not.

He'd also be bizarrely less-than-immediately-hostile at the idea of a Catholic lawyer, so I'm sure that could also lead to a lot of ???? on Matt's side of things.

Hi everyone! It's Kim, who plays Newt Scamander! I'm bringing an original character by the name of Cain Scarlett in. He was here previously at the beginning of the year, but I had dropped him due to time constraints and difficulties with his powers. He's now back with a different power warp to hopefully make his stay much longer.

Cain is a prodigy in magic, which is slightly hilarious because he also loses control of it a lot when his mental state is in shambles (which is more often than you think). He's also a natural psychic/empath, which means that he can read minds/thoughts and can pick up emotions (usually in the form of taste). These powers are nerfed that he has to make a reasonable effort to tap into them (versus them naturally coming to him without being able to put the breaks on it).

He doesn't generally hide his magic, but he doesn't tell people either and he's a little cagier on the psychic stuff. Cain kind of only dawdles with the magic community back home and ended up becoming a famous musician and likes to live peacefully and alone. What a loser.

Hi deerfolk! Chris here, player of Gwendolyn Poole, bringing in my second character: Merle Highchurch from The Adventure Zone: Balance. He's coming in from the end of canon so if anyone wants me to avoid spoilers, then lmk. ALSO he is coming in as a CRAU from Mask or Menace, where he dealt with a whole 'nother realm of shenanigans. He's gonna be trying to get back to his house in Pennsylvania, but other than that he's the same old Merle we know and love.

For those that don't know and love Merle, he's a D&D character, a dwarf cleric to be specific. He sucks at healing people and usually casts spells that make things worse, but he tries his best. He's a shitty dad and a forgetful teammate at the best of times, and he likes getting high and also making sexual advances at plants. I know. It's gross. I'm sorry for Clint McElroy's misdoings. He's also got an endless supply of chick tracts, aka little comic strips extolling the virtues of his god, Pan, so he's gonna be handing those out whenever he can to try to convert new followers.

Genius, Billionaire, Playboy Parent, Philanthropist, he's an engineer of all trades, mechanic, inventor, etc, etc. The most tired of retired heroes and alpaca owners he tends to hide his hurt behind flippant sarcasm as outwardly showing he cares is a sign of weakness (thanks Howard) though he's been mellowing out since aforementioned retirement. Accustomed to being the smartest guy in the room he had his rise, fall, and rise again of jackass weapons designer to self-made hero to privatizing world peace to becoming a team player and not entirely fucking it up to totally fucking it up and-

Global politics are complicated, okay? Okay. He's got a guilt complex a mile wide that he's not that good at hiding and hitting him on that note is a good way to get him to pay attention or have a knee jerk overreaction. But, you live, you learn, you sign some questionable international policy with the intention of changing it on the inside, everything's on fire and no one's sure what the actual right thing to do is and the super secret boy band breaks up. Not his finest hour. Month. Year. Etc. Everyone knows the rest of the story, really. Aliens come to end the world, heros rise up and the universe kind of ends anyway.

Tony's coming from the middle of Endgame post-snap and pre-time heist he is at his most ultimate of dad modes. He's hung up the Armor and has focused for the past few years on building a new life for himself, took a nap with his daughter on him on the sofa as parents often do-
