Welcome to the newest event! This is an exciting time and the event provides several chance encounters for your characters. Remember, everyone, all things in this game have consequences so don't think this will be the last you hear of this event.

Event Summary

Despair will infect the minds of Deerington and send them into a bit of a bloodthirsty craze. If they don't kill each other then some of these giant robotic bears just might!

People's conscious manifests in helpful shoulder devils and angels, or as a giant monster. Kinda sucks either way. Sleepers are subject to a complicated, emotionally exhausting court case that will ultimately decide on whether people are guilty or innocent. But be careful...even the Jury can be punished if proven guilty!

Event Ideas: Jezebel is a canonical villain with a whole lot of baggage and creativity with regards to violence. He will absolutely be trolling the town regarding how to handle the sudden uptick of violence, including providing terrible ideas.

He would also be fun to include in a trial, as both said troll and as a possible participant, since he is very much a murderer with a history littered with violence.

I am also very likely to put him on trial for his past murders/crimes.

Event Ideas: He is going to be horrified by all of the violence and despair besetting the town. If someone is in need of help or protection, he'll be willing to provide it. Or if anyone needs magical guidance, he can provide that, too.

He may also be put on trial/executed but I would need to plan that one out a bit.

Huntress (Helena Bertinelli) | Birds of Prey/DCEU

Event Ideas: Huntress is currently holed up in a safe house of her own planning, but she could very easily succumb to despair...or to paranoia. She also has an itchy trigger finger, which could be used as protection but also could go horribly wrong.

She will also very likely go on trial for her actions in Gotham City prior to his arrival.

Event Ideas:

Despair - Gee is usually all about spreading fear, but he can shift gears into despair for this event. He's the sort that might easily get caught up in those negative feelings, the agony and the ecstasy and all. Interested in having him pull other people down with him. If anyone out there wants to try to snap him out of it, I'm up for that, too.

Shoulder Helpers - Totally down to play around with this, especially people talking to themselves/seeming to talk to themselves.

Trials - I don't think I'm gonna put Gee through one, but I'm up for having him on other people's juries! Let me know if you want him somewhere.

Guilt - Really interested in this one, especially the shadows changing shape. Happy to provide Gee as someone to help other people talk about their Guilt or to have his Guilt hurt someone else. Gee's got some creepy magic at his disposal and I assume the Guilt would too.

The guy is usually kind of a self-loathing but easy going himbo type. He's pretty open to distracting himself from terrible things by either shacking up with someone or throwing himself head long into any distractions he can find.

I'd really like to have Josh fall into despair and attack someone (or multiple someones) maybe triggering a trial? In canon he has a pretty limited threshold for how much terrible shit he can handle and any time it's crossed he loses his shit.

So I'm totally down for him absolutely losing it and lashing out at multiple people. Maybe getting off of because he'd be inflicting wounds (or taking on as the person fights back) on himself and then using his power to transfer those wounds to others.

OOC Limits: I honestly would prefer no character death - on Inaba's part, if you want your character to die in front of her though, I'm down, even if she won't be necessarily happy about it. I'm also planning on opting out of the despair effects, as I'm more interested in having her assist others with their despair.

Desired CR: I'm that lame person that says 'any', given that Inaba is new here, but honestly, I'm pretty good with it all, positive CR or otherwise. I definitely want her especially to get some friends around her age (she's currently 17) or a support group. I'm also interested in having her actually get some positive adult CR, since she's been burned by a lot of adults in the past, and it'd be nice if that can be changed! Otherwise, I'm not too notoriously picky.
Unwanted CR: I'd prefer no CR that's trying to kill her at the moment, as I want her to get a little more established in the setting before having her die.

Event Ideas:

• Inaba over here is a programmer - and given that she also has the Ultimate Analyst title, she'll be able to to figure out the weaknesses of the Monokumas rather easily. She's also good with computers and technology and will attempt to hack them.
  
  Also: if anybody wants to go nuts and have one self-destruct and see what's left, I'm down for that, too.
  
• Anybody with supernatural abilities that are in despair and need to be calmed down can be done so by Inaba, as she's willing to nullify anybody's abilities to calm them down. She can still get hurt physically, however, so just talk to me about that first prior to anything else.

• I'm thinking of having Inaba's shoulder buddies be completely physical, which means... good luck dealing with her stream of consciousness. Which includes rather embarrassing things at times but also may deal with fourth-walling/unreality stuff (up to 2020). Let me know if you're okay with it, as I won't spring that on anybody unless they explicitly give me the OK.

• Inaba is going to be the saltiest bitch here, she's so sick of trials, she's dealt with being in a bunch of them and they suck!! However, she will go ahead and participate in any of the virtual trials.

• So, a few things: Inaba's Guilt is actually going to manifest a la Persona shadows "I am the true self" etc and there's a lot of stuff to unpack here. She does feel guilty of being unable to stop a bunch of deaths as well as her own personal death, and she also has guilt regarding relationships and the like. Thankfully, her Guilt will be difficult to reason with given her trust issues, doubts and fears and will even try to talk down to other people as well. Her worst traits are a lot of self loathing and how she sees a lot of things pessimistically/dark, so there's gonna be a huge emphasis on that. I'm willing to have someone be able to reason with her Guilt but it's going to be Difficult As Hell.

Event Ideas: i'm not sure on anything specific wrt the first one, but i definitely think i might put him on trial. eames has done a lot of dreadful shit in his time, so i might have to think on what for exactly, but it's almost certainly a shade of revenge and/or ruining a life.

i'd love to do stuff with other peoples' guilt too! (and his if he, by some miracle, isn't executed) despite being an all around terrible person who doesn't care about 99% of peoples' feelings, he is very good at dealing with them and also he punches very hard if that's helpful somehow

He will take notice of the robotic bears terrorizing the town and push them away, and rescue anyone, but he will find it a very exhausting endeavor on his energy to try to fight them. I will not play out the Despaired status however

There will be angel Wangji and devil Wangji and people can see them perching on his shoulder

3) Trial
I'll tag-out for this part. He will be part of the jury, but he will tend to vote "Not guilty" and most likely save your character.

Event Ideas: Beck has already been going through a paranoia and this will all only make that worse (just as he thought it was getting better). He may develop the angel/demon shoulder consciences for some fun before he'll be put on trial for his canon crimes, especially related to Peter Parker. It's very likely he'll be found guilty and executed. I welcome anyone wanting to join in on that.

SHOULDER ANGEL/DEVIL
... because I can't resist stupidity, Shiro's shoulder angel will be himself, but in this outfit. I'm open to anything goofy involving the shoulder angels/devils, too. People overhearing, him trying to describe the things, etc.


ROBOT FIGHT
Shiro's absolutely going to be around to go toe-to-toe with the robots if possible. As much as possible. Especially if it means protecting someone... especially kids and/or CR. HOWEVER in the process of one of these fights, he's going to get himself beat to the point where he has to be laid up. No death, no fatal injury, just pretty beat up.

Wanna rescue him? or Wanna be rescued? Lemme know! Open to all comers!


GUILT
... and as a result of him being laid up, he won't be able to escape the shadows of guilt. He'll absolutely try, but having to rest, and seeing the trials and whatnot, knowing he won't be able to help his friends? That will only make things worse.

SO. Shiro's definitely going to get overtaken by his manifestation of guilt. It's going to be the giant Pyramid-head thing from October, the one with purple and space themes. It's vaguely violent if confronted, obscenely fast, and strong, if attacked. For reference, here it is in action.

He'll absolutely need assistance being talked out of this, because the rumors got to him really bad earlier. He doesn't know how to forgive himself. At all.

If you're interested in doing anything with him, please check Atsushi's Permissions Post for his 10-foot healing radius. He has a lot of CW: Child Abuse, so please be careful~!

Desired CR: Anything! Ideally, I'd love for him to form a social circle with more characters his age (18.) But Atsushi has a big brother instinct (though he doesn't know to call it that,) and is very protective of anyone "in need."
Unwanted CR: Can't think of anything.

Event Ideas:

Part ONE

Atsushi will def. try to fight a robot. That probably won't end well for him. Would be a chance for someone to take his regenerated damage and maybe trigger a trial? Atsushi can recover from injuries that a normal person cannot, so he could accidentally get someone killed.

He's likely going to be affected by Despair at least once or twice. Someone to snap him out of it would be great!

He's also around to talk other people out of Despair. Atsushi cares a lot and once he understands what the eyes mean, he'll have a hard time leaving anyone in Despair alone.

Listen to your Conscious, isn't a priority, but if anyone wants to see Atsushi talk to the orphanage director then... A+. I'm here for that. But it would have a massive CW: Child Abuse.

Part TWO

Atsushi is open to being in anyone's jury. Don't have CR with Atsushi? Let's start it off on the wrong foot! He has the capacity to vote people guilty, because he doesn't want to get the entire jury killed. Atsushi is also pretty anti-murder and could form negative CR from trials. HMU, because while he can hate people, you'd have to check some specific triggers.

If he's on your jury and you get voted guilty, chances are that he is going to try to save you anyway. He can succeed or fail, but he will almost definitely make some sort of attempt.

Atsushi probably won't go on trial, unless he accidentally kills someone in Deer. But if he does, he'll think he's guilty (cuz he will be.) And then try to escape his punishment anyway. He doesn't want to die! I may let him succeed, just to make him feel worse later. I would also be open to someone saving him?

If your character is executed and you are open to random people seeing it, please let me know~! Atsushi will cry for just about anyone and everyone.

Part THREE

Atsushi will definitely be suffering some guilt. Please talk him out of it. I'd like for this to be the time when he gets his Dream Guide~!

His guilt has a heavy CW: Child Abuse, so please be wary!

His guilt will take the form of a tiger at first, then gradually change to simply Atsushi.

He is also here to talk others out of their own guilt. Once again; Atsushi cares a lot and won't easily leave someone who has visible guilt. He may be persistent, even if that means slowly talking them out of it and keeping them company for a long time.

vasiliy yegorovich ardankin / original — historical/revenant

OOC Limits: Nothing pertaining to CSA please. Vasiliy's warnings are going to be highly relevant this month, so please give them a glance over!

Desired CR: Confessor situations, tense or outright hostile exchanges that probably wouldn't happen if he wasn't on edge, jurors, people for him to be in a jury with, people to see him generally losing his shit this month.
Unwanted CR: Nothing that I can think of atm.

Event Ideas: Okay, so this event is literally Vasiliy's worst possible scenario. It's a manifestation of the thing he's been terrified of since the moment he opened his eyes in the modern world: being put on trial for what he did. He left his home country, learned a second language, lived in a place he hated, and kept pretty much everything about his real self a secret to avoid this happening.

Vasiliy committed some serious crimes during the 1930s. He was a member of the Soviet secret police, an interrogator who manipulated hundreds of people, most of them innocent, into signing false confessions by casting himself as a sympathetic figure who had their best interest at heart while his colleagues doled out the violence. Here is an example. He's plagued by remorse, which drives virtually everything he does alongside a fear of being executed a second time.

➣ I plan on having him have a small/unbroadcasted in-person trial most likely ending in execution. He's almost certainly going to plead guilty right off the bat - Vasiliy knows that what he did was wrong and will probably make it clear that he's been trying to be a better person/is a different person now than he was then, but he's willing to take the punishment. The crimes shown will be the actual ones - interrogations, undeniable proof that he was in the NKVD and an active participant in the Yezhovshchina.

I'd also love for him to be on a jury, because he's going to have some pretty strong feelings on the possibility of falsely accusing someone, seeing as that used to be the essence of his job.

➣ Prior to his own trial, Vasiliy will be plagued by the Guilt, which is going to take form at a rapid rate and ultimately assume the form of a silhouetted mass of people. He's going to fall apart under the psychological strain without much resistance - this has been five years in the works, after all - and confess to one or two people; hit me up if you're interested in this one.

➣ In general, Vasiliy's going to be extremely paranoid and agitated this month. The constant trials are going to emotionally take him back to the Great Purge, and there are a lot of psychological scars from that - even as one of the people turning the gears of the NKVD machine, he lived in constant fear of being arrested and killed by the tail end of the 30s, and he's going to be spending this month surrounded by triggering situations and events. He may have a few honest to god panic attacks over it, though he won't identify them as such.

Alec Lightwood | Shadowhunters

Desired CR: Any! I'm still working on building his CR and I'm happy to have either positive or negative CR.

Event Ideas:

• Robot Bears: Alec will be doing what he can to take out as many of the robots as he can. He'll likely be powering up his arrows with runes to make them more effective, but his abilities will be unreliable. He'll likely need back-up to deal any real damage. He'll also be stepping in save anyone in need of help.

• Despair: I'm open to having him attack/attempt to attack other Sleepers.

• Shoulder Helpers: Alec's will be visible and will appear in the form of his best friend Jace (Devil) and his sister Isabelle (angel).

• Trials: He's available as a Jury member. He won't really be sure what to think of the 'evidence' provided and will likely be conflicted regarding how he should vote.

• Guilt: His Guilt will stem from situations in his canon where he feels he failed to protect his loved ones. These things weigh heavily on him and I would love to have someone try to talk him through his guilt. This is an opportunity to get him to voice these issues that he wouldn't normally feel comfortable talking about. I would also like to use this chance to manifest his Dream Guide.

Jonathan Sims | The Magnus Archives

Character Name: Jonathan Sims

Desired CR: Jon has a LOT going on this month, so I'll be sticking to existing CR unless someone wants a tag from Jon! Just hit me up here or on plurk. I'm game for anything, positive or negative.
Unwanted CR: None!

Event Ideas: Right, so:

1. Ultimate Archivist Jonathan Sims currently goes into mind-reading many-eyed monster mode VERY EASILY. By now (the 12th), he has terrified Fern and violently mindfucked Lindsey and Arid.

2. As a result, he will probably be downing a vial of October Moon Essence to blunt the effects of his monstrousness. We'll see.

3. Sometime this week, he will be put on trial for the crime of BEING A MONSTER. Evidence includes clips of him feeding on all his Deerington victims, both consensual (Gee, Gerry, Cecil) and not (Arya, Lindsey, Arid). It'll also include clips from canon, such as flat-out murdering a guy with his powers.

4. Some of Jon's buddies will jump into his execution and help him escape. He'll then live with ENORMOUS Guilt and need to talk about it to get it under control.

5. His Dream Guide will become a giant bird with a million eyes. Dope.

6. Arid, furious that the trial didn't kill him, will do it herself. He'll then be returning with Death Flu around the end of July... and will plan to keep his head down in August.

Aziraphale | Good Omens

OOC Limits: Since he died recently, I'm not going to do any deaths for Aziraphale, which probably means that I won't be doing any of the trials. He has things he's done that could get him tried and executed, but the timing is just off for me.

Desired CR: Anything except for romantic unless it's involving a Crowley
Unwanted CR: Can't think of any off the top of my head. Even negative CR is fun!

Event Ideas: Aziraphale's going to totally have a tiny Aziraphale shoulder-angel and a tiny Crowley shoulder-demon with him this month. If you want your character to see them, I'm open to the idea, I just don't care enough one way or the other to say if it will be visible to everyone. Also, he's always been a little, anxious bean and has been struggling with guilt over the things that he's done and been through while on Earth, so that's going to get a lot worse this month. Yaaay, horrible black shadowperson following him around! It's probably going to manifest as a massive six-winged Archangel shaped like Jon Hamm, since most of his guilt has to do with the anger he feels at himself for going along with everything Heaven told him to do, and how he treated Crowley like he wasn't trustworthy or deserving of the love he felt for him for so long.

Arid | The Fall

Desired CR: People who can protect Arid from the murderbears, people who Arid tries to maim/kill while in Despair mode, people to talk Arid out of Despair mode, fellow jury members, fellow victims of Monster!Jon, friends who can mitigate at least some of the negativity Arid will be experiencing at full force this month

Event Ideas: Heads-up that Arid will be spending the duration of this event in her new android body because SOMEONE (cough Jon cough) psychically tortured her until she crippled her original body in an attempt to escape. Said original body is being repaired, but until then, she's stuck in this substantially weaker one.

Also of note, Arid's current mental state combined with the psychological effects of this event may cause her to speak more openly about some of the events/themes of her canon, which include slavery, abuse, rape, and rape analogies. If you would like to have your character interact with Arid while opting out of any reference to such content, please drop me a line at Arid's permission page here.

Now that that's out of the way, here's what she'll be doing during the event.

Murderbears: So. About that substantially weaker body Arid is stuck in. She's not going to be able to fight the super-powered murderbears and will be very disconcerted by this fact. She will probably need to be rescued after aggro-ing one of them and then getting chased into a hiding spot like a dumbass. Someone please help her :,D

Despair: Arid's already in a very bad state mentally due to the aforementioned psychic torture, so will be falling headlong into Despair. This will manifest as Arid becoming increasingly captivated by her own sense of powerlessness, guilt, and fear, to the point where she explodes into violence, attacking any humans who come near. Note that because she's in her new android body, Arid's strength will be comparable to that of an ordinary human and she'll be just as likely to hurt herself as she is to hurt others. That said, she still knows how to fight and can still be a threat. I'd also be happy to play someone talking her down from this state.

Jury Duty: You know how I mentioned Arid being psychically tortured by Jonathan Sims? Well, Jon's being put on trial and Arid's on the jury. I'd love for her to talk to other jury members (she's gonna be pushing HARD for guilty on all counts) and/or get in touch with Jon's other victims. She's also going to be very upset when Jon escapes punishment after the trial and will probably like. Bluescreen in rage somewhere for a bit. So feel free to walk in on that.

Desired CR: Any really? Sakura's gathering some great cr so far in the couple months I've had her already! I'd love to further that with current cr and have new cr to extend that too if people want. I figure maybe some older brother types maybe? Pretty much all her cr will be cross canon sans Syaoran coming in this month so. I'm open to anything, really!
Unwanted CR: Can't think of any off of the top of my head? She is capable of negative cr though that takes a lot. /gestures to Touya, Eriol for example.

Bears! I figure it could be fun to have Sakura getting attacked by one and she tries defending herself and has Kero plush transform so she finds out about the True Form mode with the flying and fire breathing? So that could be something people can ???!!! flying fire breathing lion what??? at.

That or be horrible and have them like break into the house trying to trick her playing recordings of her cr or something. Or that. She's Ultimate Hope so she might? Be easier able to help pull people out of Despair/Guilt as a result? (I think? I'm canon blind on DR so I'm just going off of what others have mentioned sort of thing here?)

In general she will be a conflicted mess this month though because her fellow magical girl cr gonna be Suffering so she will not be taking that well but will be relieved to have Syaoran and be meeting Fai though.

Unsure if I want her on trial for shooting Lee (in sparing him turning) or focus more on the Guilt aspect and have her Guilt as Lee following her around but both are tempting. I'm just figuring maybe having her escape punishment for the trial of shooting him but I think overall he is a good manifestation of her regrets and guilt over Everything since the outbreak more or less? I'm waffling between these or maybe even both but yes. This sure is a Fun Introduction to Deer for her, guys!

Event Ideas:

• GUILT: This one is the main one I want to do! Barry's got a lot to feel guilty over—the death of his mom and dad, his father's imprisonment, his arch-nemesis Thawne, Flashpoint, abandoning his kid for 25+ years because he went to go take on the Crisis, destroying Cisco's suits by accident… Gunning to play out Barry needing someone to help him since he's always there helping everyone else. (The show also never lets anyone support him so gotta fix that!)
  
  He's also available to pep talk others for this one.
  
  
• TRIAL: Not doing this with Barry but I'm offering him up to support anyone! Need someone to go to bat for you? He's your man. Barry has a strong sense of justice and he is very, very adamant about people who are innocent not going to jail because of his own trauma and being sent to jail for a crime he didn't commit. He will be voting innocent. He is also a very damn good CSI so he is used to being in court. 8(
  
  
• That said, if you want someone to save you, Flash/Barry are available to help protect or give anyone pep talks! Let him bash up some robots! Barry's naturally charismatic and empathetic and would talk up a stranger if it meant that they were safe. He has A Lot of practice.

Event Ideas:

• GUILT: Katherine has a lot to feel guilty about given she's 547 years old. She's murdered people, sentenced her friends to die. She's hurt people she values and ended up alone because of it. She feels guilty and responsible for the murder of her parents and feels responsible for letting her father take her baby away. She also feels guilty for losing her sense of identity.
  
  It'd be great to have Katherine receive support for not feeling guilty since she has never had anyone go to bat for her in 500+ years, but it'd also be great for Katherine to pep talk others who are being weighed down by their guilt, too. She's not usually the person who does this and it'd be great development for her—as long as it's successful! (I don't want her to fail.) She is rather blunt than gentle, just fyi!
  
  
• She is here to flawlessly throw any robots across the room and break them since she's super, super strong. Want her to think you're weird because you're talking to two tiny things on your shoulders? She's your girl.

Desired CR: Since he's newww I'm open all the new CR. He's not the easiest person to be around OR to get along with so anybody who has the stones to handle him and his crap is A+. That said, he can at least acknowledge when somebody has helped him out and would return the favor in future. He might be an asshole but he still has some sense of owing debts. Eventually I would like to get him to a place where he has SOME positive CR. Also for anybody who's already familiar with OU Dean, always up for some identity confusion.
Unwanted CR: It's going to take him a while to forge any truly positive CR so he won't be making any best friends for a while. People can absolutely try and eventually it might pay off, but for now he's not looking for buddies because he's simply not capable of trusting anybody.

Event Ideas: Since this is his first event, I'm going to be gently easing him-- haha no not really. I'm going to make his first event awful.

TRIAL & PUNISHMENT
Right before he got pulled into Deerington, Dean sacrificed what few friends he had left in order to get closer to killing Lucifer. That includes an AU Endverse version of Castiel >[ he's absolutely going to be on trial for that. He is guilty of sacrificing other people (who trusted him) in order to get closer to saving his world. Whether he's actually more into the idea of saving his world or just seeing his obsession of killing Lucifer through may be unclear but at some point in the past it was about saving his world.

GUILT
He will be escaping his punishment but will also end up having a guilt shadow that potentially manifests as that Endverse version of Castiel, which is what other sleepers would be seeing follow him around. Unfortunately for Dean, he's just not able to work through that guilt and is a master of repressing things, so he'll be melting down into a shadow of his guilt. I'm pretty open to a couple of options but one is a lot more tricky than the other (of course).

I have a couple of ideas as to how this could play out, the hard mode is that somebody actually gets him into a position where he can face up to and work through that guilt. Still undecided on whether that's more likely to happen with somebody he already knows or not. The easier mode is somebody is going to have to kill him :3

Both modes definitely requires some OOC chatter beforehand to work out how it could potentially go down, so please do feel free to add me on Plurk if this is something you'd be interested in exploring!

Event Ideas: I'd like to start building out his CR as I can, he's not the easiest to get along with, so negative cr might be the best bet to start with.

That said, I'd love for him to find himself in a position where he can either end someone's life because he has to/they need him to (he has no qualms with this) or finds himself in a position to help someone/save someone from something because that would be a new one for him, especially for someone he doesn't know.

As far as the event goes for him personally, while he has plenty to be on trial about, I'll be skipping it with him this time around in favor of keeping his secrets buried and he's not really guilt-ridden about anything.

Content Warnings: Addiction is likely going to be a major theme with Jeff this month, particularly past drug use and current struggles with recovery. However, he isn't going to relapse, and there won't be any active drug use involved.

Event Ideas: okay so I'm going to be on hiatus for the last week of the month, which means I can't do too much with this event. However, I'd really love to use it as an opportunity to give Jeff his first in-game death!

• DESPAIR IN THE AIR: All of the violence and stress and everything is going to finally cause Jeff's optimism to fail him, and he's going to go into full-blown Despair mode, which is going to stir up the hornet's nest of addiction. He's going to chase that high as hard as he can, and try to spread it to others.
  
  Though Jeff's unlikely to get violent, he can get mean and self destructive. If anyone wants to build something up that ends in Jeff getting killed (and your character maybe going to trial for it??) NOW'S A GOOD TIME.
  
  edit: oops I'm an idiot and totally forgot he can cast empathic manipulation spells, so! Jeff will definitely be using magic to spread Despair if anybody wants to catch it from him or use it as a reason to kill this bard mid-song.

Will Your Hope Be Enough?/Despair effects

Homura will be fighting back against the Monokuma robots. If anyone needs a hand then she supposes she can help. Ironically she'll not be affected by the Despair effects.

Listen To Your Conscious

Homura's shoulder angel/devil will be fully visible and will annoy her quite a bit. They're also stubborn enough to stick around even if she tells them to go away. The angel will vaguely look like Madoka while the devil looks like one of the Clara Dolls.

Learning To Let Go

Homura's guilt will rapidly start to consume her and manifest as a monstrous version of a combination of Madoka and Homura's own witch form. Talking her down will be pretty difficult - particularly since her guilt is rather hostile. But it is do-able and by the end of it Homura will get her own Dream Guide out of it: a small black cat.
