Ghosts of Deerington September 2020 Edition
September's Prelude allows stationery, protective ghosts to stand guard outside of the various homes of Sleepers.
The ghosts over the pumpkins/lanterns can be for characters who have died in canon/are not currently in the game. Characters who have died in-game may also appear over the pumpkins/lanterns but make discuss that ahead of time with one another. The ghosts should be of characters who have died at some point in canon, even if it is not the point you took your own character from.
This will not be a prompt for the event it is atmospheric and players may interact with it as they choose.
To keep track of what ghosts may be around town, please feel free to use this post to establish what characters from your canon you might have appear in town for others to see. You can also use this post to give general permission for your own character's ghost to appear around town (if they have died in the game before).
Ghosts can be of characters who have died in main or alternative or future-vision timelines. In other words, if there is any "canonical" proof of a character's death, no matter how brief, their ghost may be able to appear in town.
Ghosts can either look exactly how a character looked at the time of their death or they can look as characters remember them. They are generally supposed to represent more peaceful/benevolent ghosts or envoke more sentimental/bittersweet emotions than fear or disgust.

- Finally there's Gar's other mom, Rita Farr/Elastigirl and the most of the rest of the Doom Patrol: Chief, Robot Man and Negative Woman. (One of them, Mento, was a survivor and so will not be appearing!)

Sure! It's more likely to appear for characters Shiro is close to. He has sure died in Deerington, so his ghost will likely reflect that death - meaning it's going to be bruised, dirty, and if it turns around, there will be long, bloody gashes down its back. From shoulderblade to butt. DESPITE THAT, it's probably going to be a reassuring type ghost - It's okay, you're okay, you can do this, etc. Typical supportive Shiro Dialogue.
I'm happy to plot out anything specific though!

Canon Ghosts: His parents, but they will stay on his property, and pet rabbits. Lan Wangji will light lanterns, pumpkins, incense in his garden to help calm your character's ghost around his house. So if your ghosts needs a safe place to haunt or meditate or rest, his home is a peaceful place. Let me know!

Can my character's ghost appear over other people's pumpkins/lanterns? Sure! Keith has totally died in Deertown... it's just not pretty. This is what he was wearing when he died, but he'd been impaled through the chest by a licker's tongue and was bleeding out from where it was removed. He'd also have a multitude of cuts from claws along his back, legs, both arms, and face, and his death involved getting pounced on by a licker that proceeded to rip the left side of his throat out. Because of the manner of death, he'd be silent.

Can my character's ghost appear over other people's pumpkins/lanterns? No. Technically there's multiple 'deaths' for her because video games and walkers etc but as far as canon goes. She survives.
Canon Ghosts: So. Many Options. Which is hella depressing because Clem and her Life but. Lee Everett, the teacher that saved her and took her to try and find her parents. Canon Ghosts: Dr. Steve Graham (psychiatrist and father of two). Despite suffering a horrific death, Steve will appear as Peter most fondly remembers and misses him:
— dressed in semi-formal wear (Intellectual Dad Vibes), and with a book in hand
— a calm and subdued man who rarely expresses emotion; detached in his mannerism (the sort of person to give one-armed hugs). Despite this, however, Steve was the only source of any comfort for Peter amongst the turmoil of family dysfunction, and that role will be evident here in Deerington, as his father's ghost will be a willing presence to any who might need an ear.

Can my character's ghost appear over other people's pumpkins/lanterns? Nope, she has not died.
Canon Ghosts: To keep things simple, I'm just going to stick with her father, Feofan. Feofan is a tall, slender man with mint-green skin, light blue hair, gray eyes, and a pair of enormous, feathered, black wings on his back. There's a delicate, familial resemblance between Airy and her father, mostly around the facial features. I know things can be a little wibbly-wobbly with OCs, so feel free to contact me for deets.

Can my character's ghost appear over other people's pumpkins/lanterns? Yes! Exactly as he appears now, since he is technically the walking dead, as a vampire. He will be dressed in 14th century nobleman's attire (similar to this) instead of Jean-Claude's usual leather and lace.

- Asher - he looks something like this, gold hair and vibrant blue eyes. He will be dressed of a similar era to JC. His ghost has no scarring unlike his vampire form.
- Julianna - brown curly hair, slight but buxom. Dressed in attire from the 1600's similar to this.

Can my character's ghost appear over other people's pumpkins/lanterns? Yes! He's a reassuring ghost who might offer words of kindness and good humor to those he thinks might need it. His upper body will be just like you remember it, but that's pretty much all there is. Right where his hips should start is where it appears he's been torn. Try not to pay too much attention to the dangly intestines.

Canon Ghosts: Osgood Rathaway - Hartley's father, and he will look like he's been sliced up by a thousand shards of glass.
Rachel Rathaway - She also looks like she's been sliced up with glass.
Trickster - Someone might get Trickster with a bullet would in his forehead and more in his chest if you'd like, but I decided for Hartley to just have him get his parents when he carves some pumpkins because I'd rather focus on his emotions regarding that.

Can my character's ghost appear over other people's pumpkins/lanterns? Yes. Luna's ghost appears as her first death in Deerington. She's dressed in typical Third Class period attire. Her clothes will appear wet and a little ragged, but there's not so much in terms of gory injuries here. She'll be a little mournful but mostly tired and just want to curl up beside a person and 'rest'.
Canon Ghosts:
— Pandora Lovegood — will appear more as Luna remembers her rather than how she died. May even be confused for Luna because of the striking resemblance between mother and daughter. A little serene but very kind, she'll be keen to help people find their way home.

Can my character's ghost appear over other people's pumpkins/lanterns? No. Daryl has not died yet in game, or in canon.
Canon Ghosts:
— Beth Greene — a girl in her late teens, appearing more as Daryl remembers her, without any injuries/how she appeared as she died. Soft spoken but charming, she'll be mostly found singing.
— Hershel Greene — a kindly, elderly gentleman who appears more as Daryl remembers him and doesn't have any of his death-injuries. He may fuss over anyone who's injured, and seems willing to lend an ear.
