October OOC Introduction Post for New Characters

WELCOME TO DEERINGTON!

Hello new players, and hello old players with new faces! We're thrilled to have you in the game and we hope your time here is horrifically wonderful! Please feel free to use this space to introduce yourselves to one another and show off your new characters! Below is some useful information for all new players of the game and how you can expect the game to function! You certainly do not need to read it in order to plunge into the game, but we felt it might prove useful for some people and help you adjust to how the game works quicker!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THIS MONTH

Check out this month's Prelude to catch up on what the setting will be for the month! New characters will receive any items/newspaper from the month's Prelude.

Our plotting post with details on our event is live here! Please feel free to dig right on in with the plotting.

Please read our Story So Far post that will be available to all characters ICly. This is a good point of reference for anyone who wants to dig into the meaty core of the game's story.

STUFF

Requirement for all new characters: Please make sure to comment with your character to the AC Page by the 20th. We will assume you've withdrawn your acceptance if we don't see your character on the AC page by then. This would be seen as idling out and you would have to wait for one application cycle before reapplying.

Content Warnings: Please make sure to check out our player-maintained content warnings excel sheet. We strongly encourage all players to fill this out.

PRELUDES, EVENTS, AND MORE

20-25th of Each Month:

You can expect a Prelude post made each month to provide details about Deerington's setting for the upcoming event/month. Prelude posts may just be descriptors of the location or may be deliverable posts by NPCs like Sodder or the Dog Keeper. Preludes occasionally will contain gifts or necessary items for a character! All Preludes are accessible to characters accepted during that month's application cycle. For example: the Prelude for December has gifts and settings that are accessible to every character accepted in December.

4-5th of Each Month:

A plotting post containing the event prompts will be posted so that players can read the event and plan for it ahead of time. There should be time for new players to get in on the plotting since all events officially go live on the 11th/12th.

11-12th of Each Month:

We hold one event per month. Many of our events have a lasting impact on characters that will sometimes carry over a month or two after the original posting. We always clarify what parts of these events may carry over, and even as a new player, you may be able to access certain elements from events posted before you were in-game so always make sure to check out the Preludes for details about any carry-over prompts!

We provide content warnings for each of our events. Each event typically has a specific horror focus, and some events may be more specific than others. Please make sure to read the content warnings closely.

All of our events are specifically designed so players can feel comfortable opting out of any of the events without completely missing out on what's going on. Never feel you have to engage with any part of an event that makes you uncomfortable!

Every other 15th of the Month:

We have a CR meme that is posted every other month. This encourages people to make long-term plans with each other as well as catch up on what characters might be going through in the game!

End of Month:

Our Test Drive Meme is posted towards the end of each month. All TDM events can be used in game canon! You can also use direct TDM posts as AC! 10 points for a top-level (new characters only), 3 points per log comment, 1 point per network comment (all players).

STARTER INFO

While we have provided you with your essential links for joining the game, we have compiled a useful list of links you might be interested in for further immersion of the game!

↪ Social Media in Deerington: Social Media is a large part of how characters interact in Deerington. They use deerFeed, deerlyBeloved and Staggr. Read up more on how each of these apps function in the game and get your pages set up!

↪ Death Certificates: This will help you keep track of your character's deaths in game as well as any symptoms they might be experiencing. Most new characters won't have to worry about this but heck, what do we know? Maybe you'll want to get to dying sooner than most!

Hello again!

Mesi once more already adding a second character. I know, I know, it's only been a month. But in addition to Makoto Kino from Sailor Moon, I will now be playing Winter Schnee from RWBY. Winter is a military specialist for Atlas and generally comes off as cold and collected, though she does have a bit of a temper at times. She'll be entering after a particularly rough time and will not be in the best shape having just been smacked around a bit by a Maiden and having seen everything she'd been training for years runoff.

Hello Deerington!

I'm Inky, completely new to the game and absolutely excited to be getting into the game during probably the worst (read: best!) month of all.

I'm bringing you this here trash can on fire, aka Cas, aka a canon AU of Supernatural's Castiel from a post-apocalyptic episode aptly titled "The End". He is one fallen angel with about several dozens of issues and unhealthy coping mechanisms for them. He tends to be all empty smiles, equal-opportunity-flirtations, sarcasm, sadness, self-loathing, and of course some unhealthy co-dependency on the guy who sent him to his death, which is the last thing he got to experience before coming to Deerington.

Cas also comes with CWs for substance abuse, suicidal ideation, self-loathing, nihilism, religion/blasphemy, pandemic style virus related post-apocalypse - please see his Permissions for more. I've included an opt out in the OOC Permission Section, since some of these are quite heavy topics.

Hello hello! My name's Kalyn, I was in Deerington like 284 years ago, but I'm BACK with a fairly obscure survival horror protag!

I'm bringing in Jennifer from Rule of Rose! Sole survivor of not one, but TWO huge disasters that have let her more than a little traumatized. A very kind, gentle girl who's easy to bully; she rarely tells someone no. Repressed memories of her childhood until at 19 she was forced to go back through and relive the moments as an adult to piece her broken mind back together. She's shy and polite but has difficulties forming connections with people due to her past. She's also from the 1940s so everything is a liiittle bit beyond her understanding when it comes to anything technological.

Pls be her friend (or bully her, she's a doormat and a people-pleaser so she'll just kinda take anything thrown at her...)

As a warning: Jennifer's canon deals heavily with themes of murder, child abuse, bullying, pedophilia/sexual abuse of minors, animal abuse/death/killing, suicide, some minor gender fuckery (she spends a year being forced to present and act like a boy), and a lot about romantic and sexual themes revolving around young girls (with each other). These won't be sprung up without warning and Jennifer herself most likely won't mention it unless prompted enough, but it's something to keep in mind.

The good news is this shit ain’t new to Dipper. He has dealt with some kind of messed up stuff in his canon! So he is at least semi-prepared for some of Deerington’s bullshit. He is a vampire and no longer has any of his magic, having given it all away as payment for a very important item. He technically only has to drink the blood of 1 person to survive (poor Kurogane...) and he isn't really your typical vampire.

He is going to be absolutely miserable this month with all the blood everywhere though.

Hello, everyone! I'm Luna and I'm brand spanking new here.

I have brought with me an original character named Mirai Akarui. Long story short, she is a magical girl (Mahou in her world) who has a pretty dark past. I do have an information post right here that goes further in-depth about her character, world setting, and all that fun stuff if you want to check it out.

Basically, her world is dying due to over-reliance and over-use of magic. It's not only brought blight to the land but also attracted dangerous creatures known as Cadavers in her world. These creatures kill and devour anyone and any creature around them indiscriminately and can only be killed with either magically enhanced weapons or Mahous.

Meanwhile in another world, they have decided to use alternative universes as a source of fuel for their own energy crisis. They have also been finding these creatures (though they call them Nightmares there) there as well. Mirai's world was one of those worlds used for energy and she was trapped in this other dimension.

The explanation is a bit lengthy, so I suggest checking out the information post if you are interested (or just ask me, I'll be happy to talk about her). The TLDR version is that she has seen her friends and family die over time and her world dying and she was fighting to try to save it before ending up stuck in another universe.

She specializes in healing and nature element (the underlying meaning of giving life in a way). She's very lonely deep down and will be surprised to see so many people alive and the earth not dead. She's very cheerful and will put others above her every time to a fault. Feel free to ask me whatever you have questions about. You can also find me on Plurk (Byefelica). I'm Caprica and I have this here other resident Magical Girl, Sakura Kinomoto from CLAMP's manga Cardcaptor Sakura, along with two others, Yuichiro Hyakuya (wieldless), from Owari no Seraph/Seraph of the End and Clementine (darraig) from Telltale/Skybound's The Walking Dead game. I'm so pumped for more magical girl cr even with ocs! Deer gathering them all up and I'm loving it and Sakura interacting with them all and puzzling the similarities with their powers and worlds and the differences, it's been really interesting! Poor Mirai sounds like she has been through A Lot though, gosh! For some Deer is kinda an improvement on home as awful as that seems.

What does that mean? Well, it means that she is sorta an ex-omnipotent notagoddess and she's really excited to hug all of her friends again. For those unfamiliar with canon, Madoka is a magical girl who fights with a rose themed bow and is very hopefilled.

Hello! I'm Dalrint, I'm new, just joined with Laura Kinney/X-23 from marvel comics. For those unfamiliar she is the teenage clone of Wolverine who was raised in a lab to be a murderous assassin then eventually joined the x-men to be a murderous assassin. Kind of. It's cyclops' fault. She's coming in from the end of her first solo-run that wasn't an origin story, after going on a world hopping adventure with gambit and sometimes wolverine and jubilee and daken, to find herself and learn how to be a real girl. (It kind of works?)

Permissions wise, Laura's backstory is...an absolute quagmire of content warnings. Violence, torture, child abuse, mind control, murder, prostitution, implied rape, self-harm...probably other things I'm forgetting. I have a permissions post here, if you need it.

Bringing you Xiao Xingchen (yes, I am aware this is the third Xingchen this game has had) except this time around he can see!
