WELCOME TO DEERINGTON!

Hello new players, and hello old players with new faces! We're thrilled to have you in the game and we hope your time here is horrifically wonderful! Please feel free to use this space to introduce yourselves to one another and show off your new characters! Below is some useful information for all new players of the game and how you can expect the game to function! You certainly do not need to read it in order to plunge into the game, but we felt it might prove useful for some people and help you adjust to how the game works quicker!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THIS MONTH

Check out this month's Prelude to catch up on what the setting will be for the month! New characters will receive any items/newspaper from the month's Prelude.

Our plotting post with details on our event is live here! Please feel free to dig right on in with the plotting.

Please read our Story So Far post that will be available to all characters ICly. This is a good point of reference for anyone who wants to dig into the meaty core of the game's story.

Requirement for all new characters: Please make sure to comment with your character to the AC Page by the 20th. We will assume you've withdrawn your acceptance if we don't see your character on the AC page by then. This would be seen as idling out and you would have to wait for one application cycle before reapplying.

Content Warnings: Please make sure to check out our player-maintained content warnings excel sheet. We strongly encourage all players to fill this out.

PRELUDES, EVENTS, AND MORE

20-25th of Each Month:

You can expect a Prelude post made each month to provide details about Deerington's setting for the upcoming event/month. Prelude posts may just be descriptors of the location or may be deliverable posts by NPCs like Sodder or the Dog Keeper. Preludes occasionally will contain gifts or necessary items for a character! All Preludes are accessible to characters accepted during that month's application cycle. For example: the Prelude for December has gifts and settings that are accessible to every character accepted in December.

11th of Each Month:

A plotting post containing the event prompts will be posted so that players can read the event and plan for it ahead of time. There should be time for new players to get in on the plotting since all events officially go live on the 15th.

15th of Each Month:

We hold one event per month. Many of our events have a lasting impact on characters that will sometimes carry over a month or two after the original posting. We always clarify what parts of these events may carry over, and even as a new player, you may be able to access certain elements from events posted before you were in-game so always make sure to check out the Preludes for details about any carry-over prompts!

We provide content warnings for each of our events. Each event typically has a specific horror focus, and some events may be more specific than others. Please make sure to read the content warnings closely.

All of our events are specifically designed so players can feel comfortable opting out of any of the events without completely missing out on what's going on. Never feel you have to engage with any part of an event that makes you uncomfortable!

Mini-Events:

Some game-meta mini-events will be posted along with every other event. Clues to how to access these mini-events will be given in prior months. These mini-events are for players who want to get heavily involved in the story elements of the game. They are entirely optional. All mini-events are logged here and can be accessed at any time during your time in Deerington. All mini-events were created so that players can take their time exploring the story elements on their own schedule.

Every other 15th of the Month:

We have a CR meme that is posted every other month. This encourages people to make long-term plans with each other as well as catch up on what characters might be going through in the game!

End of Month:

Our Test Drive Meme is posted towards the end of each month. All TDM events can be used in game canon! You can also use direct TDM posts as AC! 10 points for a top-level (new characters only), 3 points per log comment, 1 point per network comment (all players).

STARTER INFO

While we have provided you with your essential links for joining the game, we have compiled a useful list of links you might be interested in for further immersion of the game!

↪Story So Far provides a general timeline of events that have occurred in-game for the first two years, just about. You do not need to read all of this to get into the game, but it may help with characters who are investigative.

↪ Social Media in Deerington: Social Media is a large part of how characters interact in Deerington. They use deerFeed, deerlyBeloved and Staggr. Read up more on how each of these apps function in the game and get your pages set up!

↪ Death Certificates: This will help you keep track of your character's deaths in-game as well as any symptoms they might be experiencing. Most new characters won't have to worry about this but heck, what do we know? Maybe you'll want to get to dying sooner than most!

this time i've got abby anderson, my big (literally) fave from the last of us part ii... here in all of her terrible, terrible glory. she's a former soldier from a zombie apocalypse who is trying to find herself again after having committed some. crimes. just a few. she's big into dogs, adopting stray kids from the opposing side, collecting quarters, literature, classical music, and bench pressing 205 lb. (holy shit i just converted that and it's 92kg. abby that's INSANE)

I play Jennifer from a rather obscure horror game called Rule of Rose. But still. Also dogs. Jennifer loves dogs!!

I'm Inky, I currently have this here murder child, Eleven from Stranger Things, as well as Endverse!Cas from Supernatural (an alternative timeline in which a zombie-esque virus wrecks the place). While I'm still making my way through TLOU and haven't touched TLOU2 yet, I'd absolutely LOVE some CR.

Kia Ora! I'm Caprica and am already saying hi via Plurk but. Yes. Hi. I have this here (one of the) resident magical girl(s), Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura manga by CLAMP. She's thirteen, basically the most optimistic and adorable, gullible thing. From Japan, lives a pretty normal life sans the magical girl thing, actually. And has these magical cards she can use/dreams of the future and is now as of Clear Card making her own Cards from her desires and wishes and currently freaking out regarding that here.

My other two are Yuichiro (Yuu) Hyakuya (Amane, actually, but he doesn't actually remember his real last name, took the name of the orphanage he was at) from Owari no Seraph/Seraph of the End. He's juuuust turned thirteen here last month (best birthday month clearly...!) and lives with Lev. He's a whole lot of Trauma and defensive walls and rage/revenge so he will probably. Get Abby in that sense lol in relating there. He's from Japan where there was a virus that killed off like 90% of the population of almost anyone over thirteen, where he and the other kids that survived were mostly herded to live with the vampires in exchange for their blood. Lotta warnings in his journal about his past, basically. But yes he is a ball of rage and tsun, after having last in canon just managed to escape the vampire city at the cost of losing his orphan fam. Which is where Lev came in and took him in because of course Lev did. Lev protects his idiot, reckless dumb self while Yuu teaches him about technology or something idk it works somehow.

My other is Clementine from The Walking Dead by Telltale. She's from the Final Season from the end of the second part, if you are familiar at all. She's a six -- no seventeen year old who grew up from the age of eight with a zombie apocalypse basically. Her 'Joel' was Lee, a man who found her in the aftermath of the outbreak and tried to get her to her parents. He and basically the rest of her group mostly die and she survives going from group to group and raising a kid along the way. She's from the point where she has just reunited with an old friend and Regrets It, basically.

She knows Ellie and Joel so far at least. So meeting Abby ought be Interesting.

Basically I am Here for Yuu and Clem to meet Abby. And Abby to ???!!! if she might. Recognize Sakura because Anime and CCS is def old enough lol.

hello, caprica! i have to admit i'm most excited about abby and sakura because we know that she's into anime and studio ghibli movies and i privately consider her to be a kind of classical anime snob, like only into the older #deep shit and what is cardcaptor sakura if not one of THE most recognisable magical girl animes outside of sailor moon. i'm sure she will at least recognise her as being from one of her japanese animes and sort of lose her shit a bit hahaha

i'm familiar with clem as well of course! i'm not up to date on the walking dead game because i didn't enjoy season two so i piked out and didn't complete the series, but i love clem with all my heart... what old friend did she just reunite with??? is it kenny. rip to her if it's kenny. stoked for her and abby to have zombies in common tho... i'm sure they will be able to bond over this because abby knows... exactly... what it's like... to be six no seventeen in the zombie apocalypse and having lost your father.............. haha i made myself sad

regretably i'm blind to yuu. but he's in with lev, so she HAS to meet him. he is basically a live in second son. i'm sure that she'll get along with him though, especially if he's teaching lev about tech. he will also have to teach abby about tech i hope you are Aware.
