Player Plot: Murder Prom

Prom. It's gonna be killer.

Hello fellow Deerlings! Cheryl here with a player plot for you all! I bring to you: Murder Prom.

Over the last month or so, flyers have been going up about Prom Night for the Seniors of Deerington High. All high school students can attend, with the younger ones welcome as guests. The thing is: people will feel compelled to go, despite the shifting climate of the town as March shifts into April. Of course, this is Opt-Out, you can have your characters not be compelled.

This plot is open for all: high school students and staff, Sleepers who might sign up as chaperones, or people who witness the carnage once the attack kicks off and come running to help Sleepers caught up inside.

And the surprising thing is: it's a pretty regular prom, maybe a little dated. But very normal and somewhat fun? Man, there's even some pretty cool crowns for the Prom Queen and King, too. They look a little weird but don't worry about them. It's going to be a pretty nice night! People can actually have a little fun! In Deerington? Wild.

That's until she appears. The Ghost of the Prom Queen is an entity of a long-dead student killed on Prom Night due to 'mysterious circumstances' and she is pissed. Pissed at being forgotten, pissed at her death, pissed they're going to give her crown away. She's lured students, staff and other Sleepers alike to attend the Prom to enact her revenge. The ghost will unleash an attack on the party, in a Carrie style haunting: flinging attendees across the room, crushing them with decorations, electrocuting them, setting fires. It's a blood-bath, really, with plenty of opportunities for characters to be killed.

I encourage everyone to go wild with this: be as creative as you like with how you want to go with this. Harm your characters, kill them, traumatise them, whatever you want! And cause as much destruction to the High School as you like — I've been given mod approval!

Characters can try to escape, try to help each other, or try to fight the Prom Queen. She can be temporary halted by usual anti-ghost methods (ie. iron, salt, that sort of thing) or if your character has some kind of special power that is useful against ghosts, but the only way to truly stop the her is to destroy the Queen's crown, the object she's haunting/source of power. She's been very protective of the object during her attack, allowing players to work out it's importance, and once destroyed — she's defeated.

Essentially it'll be open for some nice party fun-times and ghost attack. It's pretty flexible in terms with what you can do with it. I'll be planning on putting the plot up on April 1st with an in-game date of April 2nd.

Overthrow The Queen.

While the Prom Queen is free to be halted by multiple characters in threads if they choose to go up against her, I'll post a comment for those who want to sign up to killing the Prom Queen as some teamwork will be required in keeping her distracted for someone to destroy her crown. Basically, it's something to players to work out amongst themselves. I'd like to limit it this to 3 players, but if more sign up / there's a lot of interest, I'll RNG it for who'll be playing it!

Signing up to help kill the Prom Queen! Fern has ghost-cutting blades, a giant axe and super strength, so he's very versatile in working with teammates.

This is the kind of thing Rei is all about and she is here. She has numerous special powers that interact with/banish/purify/destroy ghosts along with a lot of personal research into their nature due to her unfortunate ghost transformation last summer. She'll be happy to help deal with the Prom Queen and send her back down where she belongs.

Fern has skills but he hasn't been in a lot of fights with actual ghosts before, so it'd be really cool if he could take some direction from Rei or something! Otherwise he's going to be like "Stab her I guess?? Stab her more???"

She would happily provide that direction. Perhaps give him some of her magic scrolls to hit the ghost with to pin it down or weaken it, and generally help take the ghost down once they figure out the crown bit.

You gave me a silly idea with the scrolls and I'm not totally sure it would work, but attaching her scrolls to his sword for either extra ghost attack power, or so the scrolls remain behind on the ghost after he cuts through it to pin it? That's just me spitballing, I'm down for any kind of team up/Fern supporting Rei by following her directions plans!

The scroll remaining behind to pin a ghost, or hamper maybe an arm or something would absolutely work, yes. So that can be a thing.

Ruby's going to be attending Murder Prom 2021! Odds are she'll be willing to try and and fight the Prom Queen but she doesn't really have anything that can affect her. She'll be bringing her giant scythe around doesn't have any problem either wrecking up the school to try and help save people or running into trouble herself.

She's willing to coordinate in any to help take her down as well.

I would 100% be down! Ruby will fret and worry over Ange getting hurt for sure. But she could definitely use the heroic moment to get back into the swing of things after the hound stuff.

Just don't plan on causing any trouble before it breaks out. Winter will be glad to help out in the fight as well, because really how difficult can a ghost be to fight?

Yes I'd love for a good chance for these two to catch up and work together. I've had your event top level pinned but have been a little swamped. This would be a great chance for them to meet up.

Jack Harkness / Torchwood

Signing Jack Harkness up as a chaperone! He might not be expecting the bloodbath, but he's willing to throw down with a ghost.

Fern will be attending prom with Varian!

Prom Queen is super rude interrupting everyone's fun. Fern is, luckily, able to cut up intangible creatures, so he'll be able to assist in defending people and halting the Queen. I'd love for a character to protect him too, since he can still get torn up or knocked out OR for him to team up with another character to do a cool ghost fighting combo or somethin. Not planning a death for this, but I'm also interested in him helping destroy the crown.

YO I JUST REALIZED if anyone wants to get in on some ghost cutting action Fern can make and loan your character a grass sword! Probably just don't hang onto them for very long because they are extremely cursed.

Rei will be signing up as a chaperone, just convinced by the compulsion to come and make sure that the teens here get to have one nice night. Which, unfortunately, won't go as well as she's hoping sadly.

She'll probably be a very relaxed about the actual chaperone duties, so...spike the punch, go make out in a dark corner, she doesn't care. This is horror town and so long as you're not hurting anyone, have fun. But once the fireworks start going off she's going to transform and help defend people and get them out of the building as quick as she can. I've signed her up to fight the Prom Queen because she's got a lot of knowledge of ghosts and powers that specifically help her deal with them so it seems like a good fit.

I'd be down for either Ruby pestering Rei at the party or a team up when things go south. She can either run distraction against the queen or help get people out of the building!

Varian | Tangled

Varian will be attending prom with Fern. He's also still got his 2nd death amnesia so he'll be much more personable than normal- he might even MINGLE instead of just wallflowering like he usually does.

Varian does have iron and salt on him because amnesia or not, he never leaves the house without SOME basic alchemy supplies. Vengeful ghosts are a thing in his universe, but they're usually solved by helping them deal with their unfinished business, so he'd suggest seeing what the Queen wants first. Once it's clear what she wants is for everyone to die, he'll be a good support for trying to corral her at least while other people deal with the crown. Shame this can't be fixed with a jaunty Disney tune, jeez, Queen.

luna lovegood | harry potter

Luna will be attending the prom with Peter Graham. u////u

Considering it's my plot, I'll be having Luna take a backseat and she won't be dealing with the Prom Queen. Instead, she'll be focusing on rescuing and protecting Sleepers from the supernatural attacks, as she'll have her wand on her. She'll mostly be focused on keeping Peter safe but this is open for others too! I'm totally interested in doing both successful and unsuccessful attempts at helping people, if anyone is looking to kill their character with this plot!

There'll also absolutely be space to get up to some teen shenanigans with her before things kick off too!

I'm not looking to kill Luna in this, but absolutely fine with getting her injured!

Peter Graham | Hereditary

Seeing as it's his Senior Year, Peter will be attending prom with the witchy Luna Lovegood! Some cute times with friends / classmates / teachers would be nice, considering school days are winding down..... Before shit hits the fan and he'll be running in terror and hiding from the Prom Queen! Peter knows all the best hiding spots in the high school: good places to cry, have panic attacks, and sleep in. He's got you if you need somewhere safe to hole up in.

I won't be getting him killed here, but non-fatal injuries would be very fun to work with. I'm definitely down for him being rescued or having a hand in helping save someone else along the way.

Gar Logan / Beast Boy

So Gar Logan / Beast Boy here does not actually go to school here, but he'll still show up after being compelled by the flyers. He'll be somewhere between a party crasher and the youngest chaperone. So he'll be available for general prom mingling and dancing, and then when everything hits the fan, his dance card will be open to attempted rescues!

Gar will be utilizing his ability to turn into various animals to try and help others. I'm open to successful and unsuccessful attempts at rescuing others, as well as for Gar getting injured. I'm only not aiming to kill Gar here. Anything else is fair game!

(Scorpia as a chaperone is also tempting, but I think it's best to limit myself to one character for this!)

David Alleyne | Marvel Comics

So, David doesn't go here, but come on, compulsions are fun. Especially when you never really got to have your own prom. He's more of a chaperone, caught up in this from the college being asked for more help.

He's definitely up to dancing before things go bad.

David also knows all of the magic required for dealing with ghosts back home, but he can't perform it. He might be a good person to pull into taking down the Prom Queen, or at least stalling her with normal anti-ghost measures while more able people deal with everything else. So, thoughts?

RICHIE will be attending prom with Eddie! this is basically his dream. if anyone who’s not in the Know asks he’ll say something pithy about wanting to leave the house, but like it’ll probably be very obvious he’s On A Date. once shit goes to hell, he’ll be.....hiding under a table, basically, because he has no special abilities that can do shit against ghosts! fun.

JOYCE is coming and serving as chaperone! the most chill chaperone, but she will be watching the fruit punch once it’s spiked to make sure nobody passes out from it. she’ll be trying to evacuate people once the ghost shows up, not actively working on overthrowing her!
