Major Mod Announcement: Welcoming the New Mods!

A Warm Welcome to the New Mod Team!

We would first like to thank all our players for being so supportive and vocal about keeping this game open. Thank you for all the feedback on the original post concerning various aspects of the game that could be improved upon as well as discussing what is generally liked/disliked. It has provided a great platform for us to build off of in terms of bettering the game's pacing and overall feel.

Thank you to everyone who applied as a mod! You all were valuable candidates that had a lot of thoughtful ideas as well as experience to bring to the table. We selected three people to help us mod this game! Please give a warm welcome to Lauren, Simcha, and Ami!

This means that the game will continue to run as a regular game. We will not be converting it into a sandbox or shutting down!

Below is a list of contacts that you can use to reach each mod as well as what that mod oversees. Please feel free to reach out to any of us! We will be keeping in contact with one another consistently so if you can't reach one, you can most likely hope to reach another:

Welcome to the New Deerington!

With new mods and a widespread discussion on the game itself, we have come to a few decisions about the overall structure of the game. We will be working over the next couple of days to put together a more cohesive game for us all to enjoy.

The Pacing of Game Events: The biggest critique we gathered from the feedback of the game was the pacing of the game itself via the events. We fully understand and agree that some of the events have been rather staggering in their size and detail. We are going to spread our larger events out over every other month or potentially more depending on the events themselves.

Ultimately, larger events will be spaced out accordingly so people may enjoy them without feeling rushed into newer, equally large events. Horror will continue to hold a presence throughout all events as this game's setting is primarily horror, but we will do our best to provide more options for calmer interactions among characters.

The upcoming October event is going to be a very large event because you don't have a horror game only to go small during October, let's be real. For this reason, the events in August and September will be on a smaller scale to balance out the weight of October's event as well as help lead up to the October event in general.Get ready for a real monster mash! We hope you've got your pumpkins at hand and are ready to die from fright fun!

Horror AC No Longer Required: We decided that we will no longer have horror ac be a requirement every other month. You can have either all horror AC, regular AC, or mixed AC and it'll count regardless of the month. You can still collect horror points as it goes along with the main premise of the game as well as providing incentive for players to utilize the various horror elements within the game. The rewards remain the same.

The Application: We are simplifying the application a little bit to improve the ease of new applicants! While it is still detail oriented, the new application will be more coherent overall. The new application will go into effect in the September application cycle.

A Game Timeline: Simcha has created an extremely handy Timeline for the game so that players, both old and new, can carefully follow the major events of the game. This will provide an easy way to remember what has been going on without having to dig through major event posts for all the critical details.

Character/Player-Made Locations Page: Since this game provides an interactive platform in which characters/players can create new settings, we will be creating a character/player-made locations page that will be up and running in the next couple of days. Future location requests/constructions will be made on that page!

This page will feature both locations players have requested as well as character-run businesses so that the game as a whole may be able to look through all available locations in Deerington.

Removal of Some Pages: We decided that there were some pages that weren't fully necessary for the game. The Phenomena page will be taken down as most of the phenomena will now be covered in the game's timeline that Simcha will be managing. We also decided to remove the Event Suggestions and instead connect it to the Feedback/Suggestions page for if people ever feel like the game has grown stale or could do with a bit more variety.

Advertisement: This game had been created without the intention to advertise as it had primarily gotten started purely through word of mouth. Lauren has suggested advertising the game to garner more interest and she will be providing advertisement in the future to hopefully bring more people into the game!

Monthly TDMS: To encourage new members as well as provide a nice sampling of what the game is like, we will now be holding monthly TDMS as opposed to every other month. Simcha and Milk will be simultaneously working on the Test Drive Memes. You can expect the next Test Drive Meme to be at the beginning of September!

As always, please feel free to leave back any feedback regarding these changes! Thank you again to our entire playerbase for being a respectful and receptive group as well as understanding.
