TEXTS FROM LAST NIGHT

[He slips back onto the couch and holds open his arms, offering himself as a pillow.]

You're much stronger than I am. That's part of the reason I like you so much.

[ Much better. Xingchen flushes shyly but follows, settling back against Xue Yang. He shakes his head, gaze lowering but there's a pleased little smile on his lips. ]

I don't think I'm that strong. I do what I feel I must.

[He tucks his arms around him, being careful not to restrain him. This is a choice and with every choice, there should be the freedom to back out. But it feels good to hold Xingchen...to know he's in one piece.]

Most men don't manage the bare minimum. You give everyone all you have.

[ He notices the looseness of the embrace, but appreciates it's there anyway. It's...warm. Far warmer than he'd have thought from Xue Yang. ]

So do you.

[He eventually cradles Xingchen's head against his shoulder. He just wants to feel him. Xue Yang reminds himself that this isn't a spirit; this is the man he has sought for so long. At this moment, he could die happy.]

I'm not the best student if I'm not interested in something.

[ Xingchen stays put, comfortable draped over Xue Yang like a blanket. The words have him grin a little. ]

It can be difficult to remain attentive when you're not interested in what is being taught. But usually it is still important to learn.

When you are interested though, when you say you're going to do something...You do it. Not everyone can say the same, though it is difficult for me to understand why.

[He can't help chuckling and, on instinct, he kisses the top of Xingchen's head. His love for the man can't be contained!]

You're too good to understand laziness, Daozhang. I think I would've been more interested in everything if my Golden Core wasn't so pathetic. Being lazy wasn't an option; I had to figure out different methods to accomplish what everyone else was doing.

[ He flushes at that kiss! And the words have him duck his head shyly again before he shakes his head - there's still a smile on his face.

But then he peers at Xue Yang, a bit concerned. ]

Your Core? Was it just never fully formed? Do you know why?

[He loves that smile and he wants to be the cause of more of those happy expressions! Xiao Xingchen definitely needs more praises. Well, actually, he deserves more praises. A lot more.

But the next topic is sobering and he winces.]

Maybe I started learning too late? The Jin couldn't do much for me.

[ He squeezes Xue Yang's waist a little in silent apology. ]

Maybe I could help? I would like to try.

[The offer is touching and Xue Yang embraces him tighter.]

Being around you and Daozhang Zichen is good for me. If I can get stronger through...going about things the right way...then I will.

[ He smiles at the answer and snuggles closer. ]

Then you will. If you become unsure about something, please tell me.

[A rush of warmth follows that snuggling and he feels his muscles relax.]

Please guide me. You're the only teacher who would have my full attention and dedication!

[ It's comfortable, in a way he's never experienced before Deerington. He finds he's reluctant to end it! ]

[ And he has a feeling he'll be learning a few more things himself. Such as...affection like this. ]

[Why end it? Everyone needs a nice place to cuddle for a few minutes or more~ Xue Yang is happy to be his Daozhang's pillow!]

Are you sure you have enough patience for me?

[ He decides to stay put until they need to move. He's comfortable! And Xue Yang doesn't seem to mind, so... ]

Yes. I chased you for months. That took patience.

[He laughs suddenly, openly, snuggling Xingchen against his chest in his giddy amusement.]

I'll make it up to you! If you still want me in a cell, I'll go without a fuss~

[ He can't help suddenly giggling at the bright laughter and close snuggling, pressing into warm arms. ]

I don't. Not right now - you're being very good to me and Zichen.

[His breath catches in his throat and he cocks his head to hear Xingchen's laughter better. What a pretty sound!]

Think of me as your guard-dog! I'll bite anyone who tries to hurt either of you~

[ He rarely has reason to laugh, even less so in Deerington. But maybe that can change? Xingchen smiles and shakes his head. ]

Then we're safe.

[They need to make the most of every good thing they have...or receive. Deerington is that sort of place. Xue Yang lays a hand over Xingchen's chest and grins.]

You're so handsome. A-Lan is too. I'm sure I'll have plenty of rivals soon enough~

[ He flushes and shakes his head in denial. ]

No I'm not. You're teasing me.

I am not! [He replies huffily, smirking to himself.] Though maybe I should tease you. Then you won't think any suitors are being serious.

Now you're not making sense! [ But he's laughing a little, not able to help himself. Why does Xue Yang have to be so cute?! ]

Jealousy is confusing me! [Though...not really. He knows what he wants and how to keep others far, far away. Yet he also knows he needs to be better than that. For his Daozhangs.

Also he was born cute, excuse you.]
